Good Morning all..Well...I lost 2 lbs and I am not complaining!!!
Hello to all the newbies in the group and the "longtermers"
Have a great day...off to get things done before anyone else wakes up!!
RR
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. DH and I actually got to have a date night last night and it was SO nice. We got to go to the movies and out to dinner. I *love* my baby boy to death, but it was nice to have dinner without screaming and throwing stuff on the floor.
Karen, what a special treat for you! My in-laws came and spent a week with our kids early this summer and my DH and I got to spend a week out of town. It was so awesome not having to base our restaraunt choices on whether or not they served chicken tenders! The funny thing was that it took the entire first day of our vacation before we had anything to talk about. I guess it had been so long since we'd gotten to focus that much on ourselves that we were at a loss for words. Luckily, we found our "old" selves after that and a fabulous time together.
I've been enjoying a fairly quiet week as my oldest son is at Disney World with my parents. It is amazing the difference one less kid can make. I think it has to do with having an odd number - when three try to play somebody has to be the third wheel and that can create tension which leads to arguing. Plus, since I'm left with the younger two I think they are just enjoying getting to be their own leaders for a while - no big brother directing their play. I don't think they've argued all week. I have to admit though, I'm starting to miss the bickering!
I had a good week in terms of diet and exercise and I am down 1.5 pounds. Unfortunately, that only gets me right back where I started since last week I inexplicably gained weight. It wasn't TOM, I hadn't been off plan - it just happened. I've resolved myself to the idea that sometimes our bodies do whatever they want to regardless of our efforts. We just have to keep plodding along when that happens. Hopefully, next week I'll get to see a new number on the scale (c'mon 147!).
Here's to the beginning of a successful week for us all!
Just a quick check in from me while I enjoy my morning
Had a wonderful day with the in-laws yesterday. I haven't seen them in 4 years, so it was good to get caught up face to face, rather than over the phone or on the net.
RoadRunner and Jawsmon ~ congrats on being losers My WI day is monday, so hopefully i will have some good results, although it has been a bit stalled lately, so even if i maintain i will be happy.
RoadRunner ~ I do use my flex points occasionally. Usually I save them for unexpected outings or special events. I have been really bad at tracking my points for the past few weeks and really must get back to it. Once the company is gone and things get back to a regular schedule it will be easier.
Karen ~ sounds like you had a wonderful evening out with hubby. We don't have kids, but I still enjoy a date night.. when we are home we tend to do our own thing in seperate parts of the house.. so date night is a good chance to just focus on doing something together.
Lisa ~ I bet you are so looking forward to your time off from school. I am on 2 months off from school right now as well, but work is still keeping me busy. The first weekend was weird, as it was the first time in 10 months that I didn't spend it with my nose in my books. Now I am starting to enjoy it.. and before I know it it will be over !
Wow, here is another week already! Where does the time go?
RR - Congrats on your success!! Keep up the good work!
Karen, congrats on the "date" we all deserve a treat now and then especially the romantic kind.
I feel for you Jaws - I know the feeling. I have been stuck at 242 since July 2. I have been exercising more, eating the same. Although I did start the old monthly thing on Friday so next week I should be down that last 2 lbs to get me to 240 - next stop 235.
Just got DH off to work - he is on the road from Sun - Tues. Goes to LA and back.
We are having a pump problem so we have to conserve water this week - yeah! no laundry or dishes - it can just pile up!
Since my scale hasnt moved since July 2, I thought I should redo my measurents since I know I look smaller.
July 2 -242 lbs
Chest-50", Waist-41", Butt-51.25",thigh-28.25", Bicep-14", Calf-16"
July 24 - 242 lbs
Chest-48.5", Waist-41", Butt-49.75",thigh-27.5", Bicep-13", Calf-16.5"
Not sure how my calf got bigger - must have been all the hiking.
So now I feel better since the inches are coming off even if the scale doesnt move.
I would like to see my chest (with out bra around fullest part which include back flab) down to about 43", 38 at ribs (dont want to lose the D-cup, but I could live with a C.)
Would like my waist to be no more than 30, 28 would be awesome!
Obviously my butt should be bigger than my waist but not as big as my chest so lets say 38 at the fullest part - or less.
And my thighs need to not touch so lets shoot for 18"
Karen- I'm so envious of your date night. Haven't had one of those in such a long time. DH and I are thinking about going on a boat cruise on the Rhine river. Its a 4 hour cruise at night and the castles are all lit up. I have a sitter for the older two, but I don't want to leave DS#2 with anyone since he's only 11 weeks and I'm BFing.
Teri- that's so nice that you get along with your IL's so well. I'm going to spend 2 weeks with mine when we move. I'm so glad we have a good relationship or else it would be pure ****.
AjandPj- congrats on the inches lost. I do my measurements every month. The website I use is http://www.mybodycomp.com/
Well, unfortunately, I gained 4lbs this week. I went to the gym 3x this week but my eating and snacking was horrendous!!! I think it has to do with the stress of moving back to the states. I'm vowing to start fresh tomorrow. I did the same thing yesterday and still ate a hamburger royal with fries from mcdonalds today. I have to get back on the wagon. Its so much harder to stay motivated this time. Plus, we're going to be staying in a hotel for 2 weeks before we leave and of course fast food is going to be the meal of choice. I just have to make "wise" choices.
RR- thinks for the minivan input. I swore I wasn't going to drive one until I was at least 35 but here I am. I know its going to be so much more convenient with the 3 kids than the SUV, but it doesn't make it anymore easier.
Well I'm down 1lb. I was really hoping it would be more, but I will take that 1lb loss over a gain any day.I am so ready for my surgeries (breast reduction, skin removal and so on). I have 48 lbs to go until we can get the ball rolling.
Well my first set of bills are coming in (being on my own again, and living off post and back in texas to boot). My electric bill was almost $200!! I decided to start washing all my dishes by hand and hang the clothes out to dry (I have a rack I got while living in Germany so I do not have to hang up a line). I already keep the air set at 78 and we sweat like pigs during the day. I just don't know what else to do to make it lower. I do use fans to try to keep the house cooler. I keep the blinds and curtains closed aswell.
I am still looking for a job, no luck as of yet. I did find a nice daycare for my daughter once I get one. They were very nice to me and said they would keep a slot open for her so I would have one less thing to wory about. Thats about it for me, hope everyone has an awsome week!
And good luck with the job hunt - what kind of job are you looking for?
As for the lite bill, sounds like you have central air - which means forced air - which means is has a great big motor that really sucks juice. Which sucks - literally and figuratively. LOL
The only suggestion I can make is to let the house get cold at night by leaving everything open - of course it depends where you live if that is safe to do or not. And if it actually cools off at night or not.
Then turn on the ac early before the house gets hot - it will use less energy keeping the house cool that trying to cool it down after it is hot. I would set it at 75 - and keep a wet towel around my neck.
Also, if you wait until evening to do laundry - even the wash - it wont heat up the house so much and dont use the oven - micro or eat salads.
Hello all! Tiffany, I can understand all that you are trying to do. Living in Texas must be tough on the electric. I have only been in TX once. It was Aug. and we went to Houston and then on to Beaumont. That was tourcher (sp?) As for the heat. It is 11:15pm here and still the temps is 86, with heat index of 95. (AGH!) I am not cut out for this. I cant imagine this without air.
PJ Those are good ideas if you can do them.
Well try and stay cool this week if it is possible.
Hi everyone
wow this is great the board has gone mad! welcome to everyone and a big CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who lost weight, lost inches or just kept on trying - which is everyone
Hey Karen - I went on a lunch dat with my DH yesterday - it is nice, isn't it? Almost illicit
Hang in there Tiffy. You are doing really well and we are all supporting you.
Not much news here in Oz, just trying to keep up with my training and stay off the red wine LOL
Everyone have a good day
Good Morning all!!!
I really dont like Mondays...it is soo hard to wake up...
Kaylee has started "screaming and talking" in her sleep from about 3am until the alarm goes off at 4.She was screaming "dog mommy" and I can pat her and she goes right to sleep...SHe gets frantic screaming for "mommy" until I let her lay on top of me and talk to her and then she calms down...Anyone else experiencing or have experienced this with a 2y/o????
I have to say..living in the south is extremely hot and humid..I think I can sweat at 4:30am walking to my car...I think October is my favorite month--not hot or cold..perfect weather...
Hello to all...off to work!!!
RR
RR, No, haven't had that problem...yet. Peter does wake up at night sometimes, but no "night terror" type situations.
Tiff, Congrats on the loss! I hear ya' on trying to make the bills lower. We tried all sorts of stuff when we lived in our last apartment. Thankfully we were on the ground floor of a house and it stayed pretty cool. I read an article in Dollar Stretcher once that said it's not worth turning the heat down unless it's by at least 10°. I wonder if the same is true for A/C? PJ made some great suggestions though. Oh, I also read an article there about dishwashers, and I think they said you really don't use less hand washing...especially if it's a newer, more energy efficient model. Good idea hanging the clothes out. I love the smell of sheets that have hung on the line...still waiting for DH to hang my line up!
