Hey...I am srill around...congrats on your school acceptance. I am going back to school this fall and its going to be great the second time around. I have been kinda involuntarily out of "weight loss" commission due to some icky medical reasons but I try to read and post when I can, but I have mostly been hanging out on the other threads like 6 week challenge.

Thanks for checking on all the "old" chicks! It's good to be thought of! I am still lurking around from time to time and I am silently cheering for everyone. This group has changed so much in the past year and I really haven't had time to get to know all the new faces. My life has been such a roller coaster lately, but things are going great now.
Just to catch anyone up who wants to know.....DH and I spent many years attempting to become pregnant with no success. We both has some fertility issues and didn't make a good reproductive pair. We have retired from the treatments are are in the midst of adopting a baby from Guatemala. We've spent the past 6 weeks getting all kinds of paperwork together and doing our homestudy. If all goes well we'll have a little son our daughter home within the next year.
On Feb 1st my mother passed away suddenly. I continue to mourn her yet attempt to celebrate her at the same time. I have some rough patches here and there.
Food and Exercise have been ho-hum. I have definately gained back some of the nearly 50 pounds I had lost. It was a battle of emotions. I continue to struggle, but am making small steps back to the healthy lifestyle I had begun to lead. I need to be fit and healthy not only for me, but for my soon to be baby!
I've been filling my time outside of work with adoption paperwork, starting to get the house in order and playing an on-line game, Everquest, with my DH and some friends. We spent a fun-filled week in Vegas at the beginning of June and celebrated my 35th B-day as well as our 11th anniversary.
Well, that's my update for all the chicks!!! Who's next to catch up with us?

Barb I'm so excited to hear about your impending son or daughter. Wow it must be so exciting to be preparing the house and getting all the paperwork done!! I'm so pleased for you!
I have missed you and a lot of the other regulars who were on the board when I joined! I guess I don't fit into the old-timers group coz I hadn't been here long enough, but I don't fit into the newcomers either! LOL Sounds like me all over.

I am taking a break from posting for the summer. I am not even reading now. Today I had 20 minutes to kill while I download some pics and someone emailed me and told me of this thread so I thought I would reply to you.
I miss many of our old timers too... and even those in between like Leanne... (love ya Leanne)
If I lose weight this summer I MAY come back in the winter and start up an OLD HENS thread. LOL If I don't lose weight this summer I won't. I just need a smaller group to belong to. The original group just got toooooo BIG for me to keep up. I like feeling like a part of a family... and I lost that feeling.
I am really happy that there are sooo many newcomers supporting each other. That makes me happy. But unless I can say I have lost SOMETHING I just won't be back. I have lost 35-40 lbs and KEEPING IT OFF !!!! But I need to lose MORE this summer or I feel like a fraud posting after so many years.
BarbPA - Nice to meet you! I'm Lori and new here - we have 4 adopted children. Twin girls from India and 2 little boys adopted from Calif. Adoption is an awesome miracle and I hope the time goes by quickly for you and your little miracle will be home! I'm sorry about your mom!
I'm still around but only checking in occassionally to read. I too felt like the group had gotten so big that it had lost the family feeling for me. I felt like I'd post and no one would respond so why was I talking to myself? I think its great that new folks come and find support but the group had lost that personal connection for me. I have been so busy this summer with my job, helping DH start his business, and working our horses.
I haven't accomplished much on the weight front other than to hold my own. I'm not sure how given we haven't been eating the best but maybe all my other activity is burning the calories.
I hope life slows down here soon and I can get back at my health goals.
I've been reading but like a quite a few of the oldies I like a smaller group. I just can't keep up with the threads so unless someone's post really catches my eye I tend not to respond.
I'm holding my own. Praying this heat breaks so I can get on with my life rather than just going to work or vegitating hoping the heat melts some of this fat off.

AGEOLDIE/Barb.gchecking in. I have had a million ups and downs this year in my personal life. To make a long story very short, I had to leave working in our family business and get a job that actually gave me a paycheck!!! I just this week started back working for the group of Rheumatologist that I worked for before. It's sorta a strange feeling afterbeing gone for over 4 years slipping back in to the same old routine. But at least I didn't have to learn everything completely new. (I may be too old for that!!)
So not only did I not have the time to post, I didn't have the emotional reserve to put into anything, even taking care of myself and watching my weight and trying to eat healthy!!!
But I have my first week under my belt, and I plan to start back to the health club before work Monday morning and health eating again. Can't promise I'll hang around here too often, but I will check in every now and then.

I guess you can tell I am not much into posting either I guess there is too many rifts in my life right now. I mean with the family and especially work. Can I blame the weather? Since the monsoons started I've been so swollen, and I just can't get rid of it
Anyway, I just wanted to thank ya'll for letting us know how your doing, I wish and pray for good things for you. Stop on by when you can, email or snail mail me if you want or can because I need you guys
So nice for you to think of all of us. I guess I pretty much have to echo everyone else's sentiments. I am thrilled there are a lot of new people around that are finding support, but I truly miss our old family. I have tried, numerous times in fact, to come back and stay back... but it's just so hard when you feel like you don't know anyone.
Things are still really busy, but I am happy to report I am now down 79.4 lbs!! I weigh less than I have in a really long time and I am moving onward and downward.
I'd like to come back and visit with you guys though because you are the ones that started me out on this weight loss journey.
