Hey wow,

I started a new thread and didn't post anything. Sorry!

I'm up and about. I did a few minutes of exercise and then headed out to the horses to feed them. This is going to be difficult the next month. I will definitely have to figure out a routine.

I went to my GYN doc yesterday. She was pleased that I was down 7 pounds from last year. She didn't say "only" but that is what I said in my head. Considering that a lot of women over 40 start gaining a few pounds each year, I'm happy to be down again. I was not pleased that she said the Am Heart Assoc is now saying that it takes 90 minutes of exercise a day to lose weight. Which is probably why I don't lose faster. But still, it is hard to find 90 minutes throughout the day when I am already so busy with stuff. Something to work towards though.

WW WI is tonight and I'm not looking forward to it. I certainly have not worked the plan the way I should have. I've got to get DH back focused with me. Its not all his fault but he doesn't help when he cooks late and makes too much food.

Time for work. Let's make this a good OP day!

Talking

Good Morning Ladies!

Well, another day is here. Certainly better than the alternative, huh?

I'm just not sleeping well and it's starting to get to me. I go to bed about 10:30 or 11 and lay awake with all sorts of weirdness going thru my head. Redecorating my house, new clothes I need to get made, when archery practice will get started, etc. etc. It would be one thing if I laid awake thinking about important stuff, but this even bores me! I'm getting tired of being tired all the time, too!

I am wearing a new dress today. Not "new" new, but back-of-the-closet new. It's a dress with a vest that goes over it the same lenght as the dress. I bought it on sale years ago and promptly lost a button off the vest and couldn't wear it without the vest because I thought it was too tight in the hips and because it really was too tight in the sleeves. It fits now! Even in the sleeves! That makes me feel really good because it means that losing weight has taken some off my arms and I hate my arms, they're just huge! Still need to change the buttons on the vest, but the dress looks just fine without it. I've gotten several compliments today! What a nice way to start the day!

Well, DS goes to my friends tonight for the Wed., Thurs., baby-sitting day so it's home alone with hubby tonight. I might see if he want's to go to the Y tonight, rather than tomorrow - which is his birthday. I need all the workouts I can get this week. I'm taking a work friend out to lunch today and she wants chinese. Then this weekend DH wants to go to Outback Steakhouse for his birthday dinner. (We'll do it on the weekend so we can get there early and not have an hour's wait.) I just LOVE Alice Springs Chicken, but according to Dotti's it's 16 points! And I know DH wants us all to split a Chocolate Thunder! Ah well, it's only one day. Maybe I'll be really, really good the rest of the week and maybe not eat hardly anything else that day! Fruit and toast for a 2 pt. breakfast or something!

Terri: If it takes 90 minutes to lose weight, I guess I haven't lost any! That has to be dependant on what person is doing the exercise and the losing. I just hope that doesn't become true in the future for me. I'm going to be lucky to get to the Y for an hour every other day.

Thin: Got the book. I'm not even thru the first chapter yet, but it looks really cute. Thanks!

Well Ladies, time to get to work! Have a happy, healty, OP day! And say a little prayer that I pick the right things at Yen Ching!

Good morning ladies! Thought I would pop in for a minute. Hope everyone is doing well today! I have stayed OP, and am feeling good about it. Had a nigtmarish experience putting up blinds last night, but I didn't run to the food for comfort! I just yelled and screamed and threw a tantrum, although I was home alone and the only "folks" who witnesses it were the fur babies, who I later apologized immensely to, as I frightened them into hiding. They've never seen their mama have a meltdown like I had last night. We bought those Levelor 2" slatted Faux Wood Blinds two weeks ago, and hubby hasn't been in the mood to help hang them, so I decided to do it myself. Wrong choice! It's really hard to hang a 54" blind by yourself. I thought I had everything measured right - long story short, after I took all the other mini-blinds down, and had all of the brackets up where I had measured, the middle 54" one wouldn't fit by 1/8". I already had the counter-sinks in and everything. I was crushed and thoroughly PO'd at hubby for not helping me. I had to take the right bracket out, leaving big holes where the counter-sinks were, and since I didn't have the room to resink them, I had to just use screws. Well, the screws were cheap and three of them actually broke off in my wall. This is when the meltdown happened. I called my best buddy up the street, my Ms. Fix-It, and she came to my rescue. We did the only thing we could, using different screws, and I am hoping and praying the right side holds. Well, that was my night - hope everyone else's went better!!

Terri - You're right. Most people gain an average of 7-10 pounds a year after 40. You lost that 7 pounds so HURRAY for you!!!

Take care ladies, and will catch up later.

I just wanted to stick a quick commercial in here. There were a couple of gals that wanted wanted to do a Dr. Phil Book Study. We have gotten so many new folks since last year when it was done last that a NEW Book Study has been started. I just thought I would mention it here in case you happened to miss the thread. The study has just started this week so you will be getting in on the ground floor if this is something that interests you.

We've been sweating here in KC for weeks - recently in the triple digits. The cool air and rain is a MUCH needed reprieve. I'll send good thought for the Rain Gods to come your way and keep my fingers crossed you get some of this wonderful moisture!!

They're coming Judy, hang on. It's been raining most of the day here. Just don't hold your breath for any cool breezes. It rained like crazy here Sunday and was blowing afterwards, but all HOT air.

Hello ladies! How everything going for all you lovelies?

My day was pretty uneventful. I only had one little bitty job to do for lunch and I pretty much did nothing the rest of the day other than a couple of loads of laundry. I had mega amounts of shirts to hang up. I'll tell you, with Honey and two grown sons all wearing shirts to work and different shirts when they come home, I've definitely got alot of laundry.

I searched for a bit for the two boxes of hair color that I bought the other day only to be disappointed that I didn't find them. So "Rooty" is still visiting this old head. Maybe tomorrow I'll be more lucky.

Judy: How was your dinner out with friends? Where did you end up? I think eating out is alot more fun when you don't do it all the time. With us, it's kind of "where are we going to eat?" like every night. It gets very old.

BarbG: I'm glad that your mother is going to live the rest of her life to its fullest. It sounds like nothing is going to keep her down. I'm praying that you all will have alot of extra time together.

JoeAnne: I'm happy to hear you are finally ditching that stressful job of yours. I don't know how you handle raising kids, working AND going to school. You've got my respect.

Michelle: OMG, look what the chickies dragged in! Good to see you, girl! Sounds like the folks being around is keeping you extra busy. Sure would like to "see" more of you. Maybe when you find a job with better hours, of course you've always liked to keep extra busy with Andrew, work and school too. I don't know how you gals do it.

Ruth: You're right, having workmen in and around your house for days at a time can really take it's toll. I don't usually have workmen, per se, it's usually Honey and #1 Son getting into all kinds of projects around here.

Lilion: I love that you are shopping for new clothes at the back of your closet. I can't believe the number of "good buys" I've found in smaller sizes over the years that are STILL in the back of my closet WITH tags. One of these days I hope to shop at the same place you do, cuz honey, there's alot of good stuff there! Glad you got the book. I hope you enjoy it.

Catherine: Ok, apparently I wasn't the only one that didn't get that your guy was coming down to meet you. So fess up. How was it? I'm guessing you liked him? What's the scoop?

Kim: Good for you on the loss. I don't blame you one bit for taking the full 1.6, you deserve every last ounce. How did your couple of nights being a bachelorette go? Did you do something fun? Ok, I see you've come in since I started this to write about your evening. OMG, don't you just love MEN! If they can't be around to play Mr. Fix-it, what are they good for? Geez.

Terri: I noticed you started the thread and then didn't post and thought "what the h---, she knows better than that!" I'm glad you came back and corrected that. I'm sorry, but I think your GYN is out to lunch on "it takes 90 minutes of exercise a day to lose weight." It would seem to me that if you are not doing anything and then you add any type of activity you should lose something as long as you're curbing your eating habits to go along with it. Now I can see where if you're really active already that you'd have to UP your activity to see any results, but I just don't believe, as a blanket statement, that you can't lose weight without 90 minutes of exercise. Besides, wouldn't that be pretty discouraging to say to someone? I would think that a Dr. would be happy to get their patients increasing their activity by "something" rather than discouraging them by telling them they have to do more than any normal person would. But what do I know? I'm just shootin' my mouth off again. Sorry.* Congrats on the 7 pounds. I'm sure my GYN visit on Thursday will not have that kind of good news.

Mary: I'm glad you like the new DIL and that they are happy. Too bad about the job situation down there. That must be rough and very frustrating. I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Did you say he was in jail for stalking or is that my imagination? Too bad the little guy won't get to see his daddy. I hope you'll make yourself a regular here again now that this thread is up and running.

Well girls, I think I'm all caught up. I hope you all have a cooler day today. Honey says they predict in the 70's here and if that's the case, this girl will be a happy camper. See ya later. Love ya bunches!

Just a quick jump in to say I maintained at my weigh-in yesterday. Considering the disastrous few weeks I have had, up until the last week, that's a good result. Really stressed out still and fed up with everything but hanging in there as usual,

Woohoo!

Its a beautiful morning! Cool, cool, cool. Come on September! I hate to wish my life away but I hate July and August heat and humidity.

I'm tired this morning. I have an aunt in town from Florida so I went over to another aunt's house to visit with them. They do this every time but I could not get away until 11:30 pm and then had a 25 minute drive. It was a good visit and she had not been here in town for several years. Sure would like to stay home on the couch this morning. Will need more

I went to WW WI before I took off last night. I was down 1 pound. Probably cause I changed from jean shorts to leggings. Anyway it was down. Gee, it would have been a nice loss if I'd worked the plan like I should have. I've over the starving to death feelings and ready to settle into the program. Just got to keep the good groceries in the house. It really has helped to have my own breakfast and lunch stuff. Been saving money too.

Tonight will be a trail ride with one of the 11 yo girls from the barn. She just wants to ride horses and her dad wants her to trail ride; not do the "lessons" and do shows. But Val the trainer traps them into paying and doing the shows as Val gets more money (another reason to move). When I heard that, I asked her to ride Tanyah while I ride Ginger so that I get both of the girls out and exercising. She loves it. She was disappointed when I wussed out last week because it was 101 degrees! We'll go have a good ride tonight even though it rained all day yesterday. And I won't charge her!

Cheri, the barn manager, and I exchanged a few emails yesterday as she just didn't understand why we were upset and why I was avoiding her. Gee, maybe the nasty letter you wrote me, ya think? Anyway, I finally said, friendship and business doesn't mix well most of the time so let's try to salvage the friendship. I like her and only care about her as a friend; definitely not that limp **** husband of hers. DH and I talked about really, it is better for us from the standpoint that they want the kids all over the place which makes it hard for us as adults without kids to do what we want. And its a age difference thing too. So that has removed a whole lot of stress from my mind.

Lilion - on keep getting into those smaller clothes. Doesn't it feel great to keep pulling stuff out that you couldn't wear and now can? It is such a victory. I've been doing a lot of that this year and will be glad to finally pass those clothes on to goodwill after saving for many years.

Thin - I've been thinking about the 90 mins a day thing. My doc did think it was a bit of a challenge too but that is the AHA recommendations. I do agree that to go from nothing to 90 is too much and that people can lose without exercise or even 20 minutes a day. But for some people, like me, who have been active for several years, it does require more and more. Which is part of why the weight is so slow in coming off me.

Doxie - I would have had a meltdown too with those blinds. Hope they stay up. Enjoy the weather today in KC!!!!

Mary - Great to see your post. Sorry about your DH losing his job. That is so very hard for their self-esteem. That is great that your son got a great girl!! Keep coming back!

Catherine - Hey, I'm with the others and missed the whole thing about the beau coming to visit. Inquiring minds need to know!

Michelle - Great to see you popping back in! You're busy as ever. Great that you got your folks moved down there. Enjoy!!

Joe Anne - That is going to be a relief for you to get out of that stressful job. Yikes, sorry to hear about your son being in jail. How much school do you have left to do?

Barb.G - How are you doing this week?

Leanne - Maintains are good. Now just get to working at it a little bit even if it comes off a half pound at a time. You can get it together!

Okay, I better go see why DH isn't up and he should be. Plus I should be getting dressed myself.

Have a great OP day and get out and do some exercise while its cool!
