I checked my waist this morning and instead of getting poptarts in the machine (I get snackie in crappy weather) I opted for the low fat animal crackers!
Also having my first coffee in at least 2 weeks and it doesn't taste as good as it used too.
I've been breaking the addiction first coffee then diet coke now diet snapple
I've been watching my calories and keeping the daily total betwee 12 and 1500
Dh had his surgery last week and his Mom decided he wasn't going to my cousins wedding. . .he ofcourse decided he was and she told me I had my priorities in the wrong place was irresponsible yadda yadda yadda I told her he was a grown man and I respected his decisions so we're not speaking at the moment and I want an apology.
Cin your grandaughter was born the year i graduated highschool that kinda freaks me out.

one day turns to two, a piece of pizza turns to a doughnut, turns to a small ice-cream...and before you know it, BOOM! you can't wear your shorts!

I'm back to exercising in the AM routine, mostly cardio and intervals with 5-10lb. dumbells....made through 1/2 hour today, good elevation of my HR and a good sweat...I SO want my size 10s to fit me........

even more importantly, a good exercise session greatly improves my mental outlook for the day.......I wouldn't skip my meds, why do I skip exercise?

Hi, ladies,

TC and Liz, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have been reading here most days, just not posting. I have been very busy focusing on the job-hunt. I am going to a career center and it is helping. It helps just to be around other people who are looking for work, and getting some practical advice helps, too. I also realize my back got more hurt than I realized at first from my car wreck. I guess it is pretty common to not feel so bad at first and then you realize you got hurt more than you thought. But I am getting help for it, so it is o.k.

I gained half a pound this week, darn it---a little too much stress eating, I think. but I thought I would lose a little, so it was disappointing. But I will just try harder this week. WW is definitely working for me. I just wish it was going faster. I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Default Life happens & Miracles do too!

hey gang!

I didn't get a chance to get on here yesterday. Life has been crazy.

Monday night my oldest son was hit head on by an 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler lost control and ended up totally in my son's lane and hit him head on. He is basically ok just really banged up, but we spent the entire night in the ER. Of course, his truck his totalled, but it was a miracle that it wasn't worse then it was! There were 2 other head on collisions that night in our city (it was rainy and wet) and there were fatalities in both of them, and they were just cars and pickups - not 18 wheelers. So we truly understand how bad it could have been!

Yesterday was wild (2 hours of sleep) and today I am taking him to see his doctor who will thoroughly check him out.

I had something typed up that I posted at our family website that I will post parts of here in case any of you would like to read the details.

We are fine & feel very blessed!

hugs,
cathy

Default Details about the accident

Let me start by saying that Cody is ok, but he was hit head on by an 18 wheeler last night around 6:30. Miraculously he was able to walk out of the truck. We spent 7 hours in the emergency room at the hospital monday night because there were so many accidents. Bad night! He has a knot on the back of his head, his left wrist is sore, his right knee has a cut and lots of bumps and scraps on my both legs below his knees, bumps on his arms and he bit his tongue. His main injuries are from his seat belt. His chest is bruised where the seat belt was, and across his stomach, where the seat belt goes across, is a solid bruise and looks like a huge blood blister. And of course, he is sore from head to toe.

Ed and Cody had gone to pick up Cody’s truck from the shop where they had fixed the A/C. They were driving home going north on Hwy 171. Ed was in his truck and Cody was behind him in his truck. It was raining and the roads were really slick!

Ed said an 18 wheeler was traveling south and as best we understand it a car was slowing down in front of the 18 wheeler to turn right onto a road. The truck driver must have slammed on his brakes and turned his wheel to the left to miss the vehicle he was traveling behind and when he did he lost control of the truck and started swerving in and out. Ed could see coming towards him and was able to pull over to the right and out of the way of the 18 wheeler who was totally into their lane.

Cody said that when Ed moved over all he saw was this 18 wheeler coming head on for him. He said he slammed on his brakes and pulled his wheel to the right to try to go towards the shoulder and miss the truck but nothing happened. Sounds like everything locked up and that the Lord intervened. The truck hit him head on. Had he of pulled his truck to the right, the 18 wheeler would have hit him at the door and probably crushed him.

As it was the truck is totaled. The engine is smashed to bits. But Cody got out of the truck and walked to the ambulance when they got there!

Of course, Christian (my youngest son) came up on the accident coming home from the Civic Center with the band all day and saw Cody’s truck and the 18 wheeler and the ambulance and figured the worst. It did look bad!!!

In the ER, after waiting 5 hours I had to insist that they do a cat scan of his head to make sure he didn’t have any head trauma. The doctor checked him out and was mainly concerned about internal injuries because of the bruising to his stomach and the impact he must have taken, but suggested I take him home and bring him back if he started throwing up or got worse. LOL He wanted him on pain meds (which he is not gonna take) and said he would be very sore yesterday and probably worse today. He was right about that! The ER doc felt that he was “probably ok”, but would do a cat scan to make me feel better. I told him I didn’t need him to make me feel better, I wanted to be sure he didn’t have any head trauma because of the knot on the back of his head, and because his head was jerked forwards and back and something busted his windshield. Have no idea if it was his head or not, but I wanted him checked out and I didn’t wait 5 hours for them to tell me he was “probably ok” and just bring him back if he gets worse.

We waited an hour for them to do the cat scan, and an hour for them to read it, which thankfully, they say was ok, and got home at 4:00 am Tuesday morning.

There were several bad accidents that night, and a couple of fatalities.

We had to wait so long because of all the accidents and just as they were getting ready to take Cody the second fatal accident came in. I understand that, no problem, but I was not satisfied with the ER doc at all. The Radiologist was great! But I will never go back to our ER again!!!! It was pitiful.

Everybody that came in asked Cody “you were hit head on by an 18 wheeler???” and he would say “I sure was” and every one of them said “man you are lucky!” and every time Cody said “no man I’m blessed, God saved me”.

And I’m telling you - there is no doubt about that!

Thumbs up Cathy....

God is GOOD..ALL the time!!!

I'll be praying that Cody recovers quickly...and you too!

Hi everyone..I'm still here (as you can see) Been battling depression . I'm still on Lexapro, but there are a lot of external factors which I'm dealing with. Plus I'm working Step Four in Overeaters Anonymous ("made a searching and fearless moral inventory") which is bringing up a lot of old junk , but I know it will be to my benefit in the long run.

Leenie: Any news on your BIL?

Kierie: Are you getting that bike? I checked the link-it looks great

Liz: How are you doing

Kathy: Good luck with your job search. Hope you hear some good news soon!

Marble: How 'bout some more info on that date?

FatBat: Congrats on your loss!

CIN: I just turned 55-and you know what they say about "the sands of time" Everything is "going South"!

Enjoy your day!

oooh Joanne..... it went quite well actually, ....and he even called the next day I have a feeling I will be seeing him again.... It's rather refreshing to meet someone nice and feel that their main objective is NOT to get my clothes off as fast as possible.....not that I'm a prude, but I prefer to take my time and dip my toes in the water first before diving off the cliff

Cool

It is on days like this when stretchy waists make a differerence!
Wow Cathy-- that does put somethings in perspective. God is Good.
Yeah MMarie-- good job
Leenie, how are things at your end?
Dori-- how did that interview go? Fingers are crossed.
Liz thanks for sharing your experience. It never goes away does it? Loss of a dream hurts so much. I guess we do the 12 step and just take it one day at a time....or some days minute to minute.

I have started kntting another baby blanket for my grandson due in July. Keeping my hands busy seems to help my brain stop thinking of the "what ifs." I know it is stupid to keep thinking of all the things the docs could have done that might have saved Dominic......and they still might not have made any difference. Just read a book--The Hopeful Heart by John R. Claypool. It was quite short and he deals with learning to hope again after loss. He says take the 'what ifs' out of your vocbulary and replace them with "next time." So, here I go looking forward.

Good morning ladies.

Cathy - Sorry to hear about Cody, but glad that he is okay.

TC - I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

FatBat - Congrats on your loss.

My waist is okay. Pants on it held on with a belt. I tried to go down a size but that didn't work. I didn't make it to weigh in yesterday so I don't know how I'm doing. I did weigh this morning at home in my birthday suit and I was 156.5. Not to shabby. With clothes I'm sure I'll go up to 158.5 or so. I didn't get the job. Apparentally I'm not a candidate because of one student. Tomorrow I have a interview for a life skills position at the middle school. We'll see what happens. I'll keep you gals posted.
