Default Couscous is it a starch?

Is couscous considered a starch? I really like it and would like to have it at lunch but if it's a starch I can't have my potato with dinner. Just wondering if someone can help me out. Thanks!

No it is not a starch. You can have it for lunch and a potato for dinner. Or couscous lunch and dinner.

Couscous is considered a core food. I questioned this too since it is technically pasta but I was told that most people don't eat this in excess so they don't have the restriction like they do on the pasta.

Thanks you guys! Helps me out a lot. I was hoping I could have it whenever I wanted since I really like it, that should help my diet out considerably!!

Hi Jill!! Yes couscous is not limited in any way. I had some for lunch today and it was filling! I had a problem at first eating couscous because my head knows it's a type of pasta so I wanted to put it in the pasta category even though Core doesn't... so recently I just said, the heck with it, lol... eat it like they say because obviously they put no restrictions on it for a reason, lol. So now I am starting to eat it in addition to my one starch a day.

Default Couscous excuse pants loose caboose?

I bought some couscous. Uhm, now what do I do with it? How do I eat it? I don't cook. If I can't nuke it in the microwave, eat it raw (out of the can) or in dire situations, cook it on the hot plate, I don't eat it. Any suggestions? Eat it like a pasta with spaghetti sauce? Put it in soups? Anything else? Hope my strange sense of humor didn't put anyone off. Just being silly.

Default Couscous

You can nuke this. Follow the directions on the package for water, oil, etc. and then nuke it. I like the instant kind cause you just boil the water, then stir it in and take it away from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then I mix a variety of cooked veggies, chopped uncooked tomatoes and some diced chicken in. Put this on top of a salad and top with some FF italian dressing. DELICIOUS. Really filling too.
