Default Challenge chat week 5

Good morning everyone!

Woke up to a brisk morning today it is supposed to drop down to 12 C this afternoon and -1C overnight - Brrrrr!

Well I seem to have dropped another pound according to what the scale said this morning. I am pretty happy - this morning I am wearing a new skirt to work and it is a medium instead of my usual large - yippee!

Yay Mauvais! (Does that rhyme? I don't know French.)

Well, my attitude sucks recently. Since I gained two pounds last week, it's been like I've responded with a big F-Y! to my body. I've been eating junk, and a lot of it. At least I'm still posting here; that tends to make me more optimistic.

Good morning all....Woke up today feeling good. I created my journal for the next 61 days and am committed to writing in it daily and I will also start the exercise tomorrow. I will begin with the WATP 2 mile and work my way back up to the 4 mile dvd. Feeling like I am starting all over again and it actually feels good to be motivated again.

ellis – from last week’s tread: I never got to say I was sorry when your dad died. I hope you’re all doing OK.
It looks as if you’re using the right anti-depressants too; as you see when you go off them.
And I just wanted to say that even if you’re feeling “surfacey” right now; your grieving will stay with you and change with you – and continuously feel different. Take care of yourself, ellis – I’m sending good thoughts your way!

Default Back in the saddle

Well, my first week back in the saddle still felt like I was not OP (tho I don't really have a P per se).

Of the five I gained at last Monday's weigh in, I lost two. So I was pleasantly surprised and grateful for not having a totally discouraging weigh in. Plus my period came along to say "howdy."

Will be back walking this evening, with vigor.

Book Alert: New book from the library with some awfully yummy stuff. If I can find something not too terribly decadent (!) I'll post in the fab food section and let you know. The book is by Joyce White and is called "Soul Food: Recipes and Reflections from African-American Churches." It's definitely one I want to find at Half Price Books so that I can have my own copy. Mmmm. Sauteed Garlic Greens....

Do y'all ever have one of those days when you are inexplicably HUNGRY? I've been having one today, all day. I woke up hungry, stayed hungry all through my classes (even though I had a good breakfast), I was satisifed for about an hour after lunch, and I'm still hungry despite the fact that I've been snacking all afternoon. What's up with that? Oh well, we're having burritos tonight, so hopefully that puts a stop to all this ridiculous hunger.

Yesterday I was one hundred percent completely OP and feeling very proud of myself. According to the scale I am up one pound...but considering the weekend I am ok with that. I have to admit the journal really helps keep me focused and motivated. I would hate to have to write something in there that I have done wrong.

I have been OP for 1 Week, I have eaten right, taken my vitamins religously(miracle)... but am up- > retaining fluid= due to TOM. I just feel bloated and swollen this AM. I have faith though. Grats on everyones losses and keep up the good work.

Tiki – yes; we all should keep posting when we’re having trouble keeping OP. It's a really good thing to do, I think. Something about keeping connected perhaps…

Megan – congratulation on getting back in the saddle! You go girl!

Hannah – oh yes, I too have those hungry days! What works best for me is to eat more from the morning on; to keep myself feeling full and satiated, and not deprived. Nothing triggers my overeating like the feeling of deprivation (which helps explain why dieting is so difficult! ) If I eat enough early in the day (more breakfast, more lunch, more midmorning snack, etc) – the hunger usually goes away later in the day. I’m talking about eating the same foods as I normally do, but more of it. And cutting back the next day if possible.

As for me – I’m having some old head-stuff going on. I have been a yoyo-dieter for as long as I can remember, so I’m pretty good at losing weight (*and* at gaining weight) – but not so good at maintaining.
I’m on my second month of weight maintenance (after my most recent weight loss), and I’m having problems keeping my motivation up; I feel bored, stuck, nothing happens, etc. There’s definitely more drama and action in the weight loss period, not so much in maintaining!
