I love Sunday mornings...

Not much going on today. I didn't get to the store yesterday, so I am on my way now. Other than that, I asked DH to go with me to pick out paint for our bathroom. I got a lot done yesterday...not everything, but got our office filing done and some cleaning, and all the laundry. That's what our weekends are for!

I tried to get Protein Power Life Plan from the library but it was out. Got a Suzanne somers book for the recipes instead. Not that I ever end up using them, but I thought it might give me ideas. I defrosted shrimp and instead of shrimp salad, I marinated them and grilled them on skewers last night. With pesto green beans and saffron rice(for DH, I just had a little it was great.

hi Linda, your gardening persistence wows me. How do you weed for 5 hours. (literally) I would be aching. Do you kneel on a mat? Or stand with a cultivating tool? Keeping this yard without help is becoming a real chore for me, I feel like it's always hanging over my head. I had a lawn service in my last house that kept the beds weeded, and I only planted and pruned. Now we are trying to save the $ and do it our selves, but I'm not going to make it. I think I have to rip out everying and plant pachysandra everywhere and be done with it!

Hi Ruth, Leens, everyone else- have a wonderful, relaxing, calm Sunday! Do something fun!

Finally it's NOT raining! Actually yesterday's deluge made for a very relaxing day on the homefront.

I am not going to Church this morning and don't feel a bit guilty! Our minister is on holidays (he leaves Sept 1) and the lay reader who will be taking the single Parish service has to be the worst speaker I've ever known. I know I'll just be irritated if I go! I think I'll sit on the back deck with a coffee and worship Nature instead.

***sigh*** Happy Sunday!

May you enjoy your Sunday any way you wish: relaxing (inside or out) or busy.

Dottie, I wasn't weeding the entire time. Much of the time I was cutting back vines and perennials that were overgrown and/or finished blooming. For weeding, I generally use my Garden Claw. I find it's the easiest on my back. I can't go on my knees anymore because I'd never be able to get up again. LOL. I just bend over and pull out the weeds I've loosened with the Garden Claw.
Today I didn't do much at all. I had to go with hubby to pick up the new dishwasher for our rental property and there was nobody working on the loading dock. This meant that while Peter waited, I had to trek up a hill and into the store to find the salesman and get him to send someone down to help us load the dishwasher. Oh my, was I ever puffing, hot and sweaty after that little jaunt. It pretty well ruined me for the day. This makes me very ashamed that I am so terribly out of shape.
I got my Protein Power Life Plan book at a book sale in the supermarket. It's very full of information, most of which you probably already know, and it doesn't have a lot of recipes. You'd probably be better off with the Suzanne Sommers book. I wasted over $5 today on a new low carb magazine. Most of the recipes have more than 20 gr per serving. What a rip-off! Serves me right for not checking into it more carefully before buying.

morning everyone,

hope you don't mind a new face around here, but i've been lurking for a few weeks and thought the least i could do was pop in and say hi. I've been following low carb for 3 weeks now and thought i could use a little support. I added exercise this week (i wanted to see how much energy i had after eating low carb). anyways, gotta go to work, hope to add more later.

welcome Sheila, glad to have you- we're always eager for new faces!

I'ts Monday morning and I'm getting ready to leave for work. Another hot and humid day here. I'm tired because we were up too late(for a 'school nite") By the time DH got the lawn mowed (his only chore for the whole weekend) it was almost 8, then dinner, clean-up; went to bed but couldn't sleep for a while.

Today won't be bad. I thought I would have to drive down to DE for one of MIL dr. appts, but she says she can drive herself, and it's only 6 miles away from home. that's better than me driving 200 miles down and 200 miles back in one day! So I'm glad to be home.

Linda, I think you're right...the Suzanne Somers books all seem to have a lot of recipes, I like that. I'll let you know if I try any. I read these books, but hardly ever try anything new! Have you seen her new book? "The sexy years" They had it in the library. No recipes, it's about hormonal balances and aging. Sexy? I won't look like Suxanne somers no matter what hormones I take!
And thanks for the weeding answer- I can't kneel either, and just loosen stuff with the claw, and bend. But bending isn't so hot either! I have a sore shoulder and did some one handed, but now my back hurts! Well, I guess it's exercise!

eating OK, made turkey meatballs in spicy sauce for dinner last night. Bought some watermelon for desert, it tasted great. I should limit fruit, but the summer fruit is my favorite. I also bought a honeydew melon. The tomatoes are nice now, and green beans.

ok enough chatter, time to get moving
have agood one,
dottie

Well I am still on island time. For a few more days anyway. We went snorkeling for sand dollars yesterday and among the 70 or more live ones we found, you can't keep them, we found 9 white ones to take home along with 8 conch shells. The people down here make a raw salad out of it. There are tons of starfish just off shore and tha water is so clear you cna see them. We played with them this morning in the surf and took aome pictures. I hope I can post this one...

to all my chick friends and a welcome to our new one

*sigh* Wow, L, those are amazing pictures! Sounds (and looks) like you all are having a fabo time!

Tomorrow is the mad dash to get final details all tied up (I stayed at work until w a y after 5 today doing that there) and take Melis food shopping so she has stuff she wants here at home. Then finish washing (grumbling at kids cuz they keep wearing their fav stuff and I have to washing it AGAIN) and pack. We will leave early on Wednesday.

Got a TOM surprise this morning. Don't really need that right now with everything I gotta do (I'm wiped out and just want to crawl in bed) BUT I guess it is better than having to deal with it all on vacation, right? Besides, this will mean that my eating will be better and I will feel like doing beach walks - that is a GOOD thing.

I hope I find some great shells - probably nothing as exotic at L's, tho.

Everyone have a wonderful couple of weeks - I may be able to check in from San Diego but I'm not making any promises cuz I'll be on 'beach time'! lol

good tuesday morning all-

L, the little man has gotten big! very handsome too. glad it's fun, and i'll be the food is good. I like eating in the caribean or Fl, lots of fish and fruit and salad. Well, ice cream too, but you know what I mean. enjoy your last days!

kel- sounds like a big push then you're THERE! I hope you have a great time as well, you deserve a nice break. and walking on the beach will be a welcome change from office and home! Keep in touch if you can/

it will be busy day today, a couple of meetings and 2 lunch thingies. A patient pizza party lunch that I am supposed to show my face at. And a going away lunch for coworker. I like the patients better than the coworker, but the going away party was $20 for food and gift, so I want my fancy wrap samdwich. then I'll leave before the speeches and love-fest begins. can't really stomach that.

still hot and uncomfortable here, humid and the air is just yucky feeling. Work has AC so I never complain about being there in the summer!

eating was good yesterday. trying for 2 days in a row. I wouldn't take bets though!

have a good one!
dottie

hey, Sheila, how you doing? how was your day yesterday? what plan are you on? talk to you later...

Welcome, Sheila.
Geez, beach time sounds great to me. Lovely pics L144S, both of the amazing starfish and your not-so-little man.
Rain again here this morning so I had to cancel Sarah's first day back. She has decided to overcome her fear of the big outdoors, thank God!
I finally got that two pounds off and am back at 200. ONEderland next - for the third time in a year. I keep bobbing up into the 200's like a cork float! Journalling is helping as is my personal FitDay software. it's nice to record stuff without going online.
Happy Tuesday, LC Chickies.
