Hi,
Hope everyone is doing ok. Lolow that is a great suggestion, I'll have to look there myself the next time I want a book.
We had a pretty nice day, the weather was in the upper 70's and the humidity was fairly low. We went and saw Fairenheit 9/11. It sure did have a lot to say. I wish I could have heard more of it, but DH likes to do a running commentary through the movies, so I probably only heard 1/2 of it. I think it's really worth seeing. For some reason, he thinks he needs to repeat things to me for emphisis, and I miss the next part. Men
I got busy reading the 8 min in the morning book today, so I'll start it tomorrow morning. I think I'll do the stationary bike in the evening, just to stretch out my legs. I give up trying to do things that are too hard on my joints. My ankle is just getting worse and I decided not to push it anymore. I'm not 25 anymore, man, I'm getting close to 50, I can't believe it, but I sure do feel it. So, I decided to try to just maintain what I can and do what I can to get myself in the best shape possible by the time the big 50 does roll around.
Take care, Nikki
It's raining here this morning, so what else is new. We did have a decent weekend with only a few scattered showers thereabouts.
We have managed to get one corner of the laundry/storage room cleaned out. DH says we have accomplished a lot, but to look at the the whole mess, it looks like we haven't done a thing.
I got the results of my cholesterol test last week. It has really gone up. I really haven't been very good in the eating dept., eating way..way too many fried foods. So, I'm going to have to re-think a few things to start getting it lower. Somersizing brought it down in the first place, but don't know if I can do the food combining again.
Lolow38, WELCOME!!! That's a good idea about the books. You could save a lot of money that way. I'll have to give it a try. Are you doing 8 Minutes in the Morning? Does it really work? Any input would be helpful.
nikki, sorry that your ankle is really bothering you. Does the Gazelle bother it? I'm still reading 8 Minutes in the Morning, and tested my middle range of hand held weights to use. The heaviest set I have are 3 lbs, but they are too easy for me. I'll have to go to Walmart to see about a heavier set, maybe 4 or 5 lb. Will you also be following his WOE? DH was telling one of his internet buddies, who is computer savvy, about the virus that attacked our computer. He told DH that it probably came in one of the numerous pop up ads that appear. He also said to take the computer to a computer repair shop and they possibly can install our old browser back in. They would have to delete everything from the disc and start with day 1. We would lose everything, all our photos that are stored, etc. He has tried transferring the photos onto to a disc, but everytime he tries he gets a message saying that the disc is corrupted. So, DH doesn't know what he's going to do. With Godzilla, we can't even get to our photos, or at least DH hasn't found a way yet. I hope that your ankle will be better soon.
lynn, did they open up the locks and did you get flooded? I'm thinking about you.
ANNE, hope you had a good weekend and that you're not getting the rain we're getting today. This summer really has been the pits. We're supposed to start warming up by tomorrow with high humidity, and chance of thunder showers in the evening.
Hi,
I've been wondering about Lynn too. I just hope it's the computer that is giving you trouble and that your not flooded. Computer problems are frustrating, but flooding would be devistating to say the least. I'm thinking about you and hoping for the best. Just hope your busy with puppies and family, take care.
Anne, how are things with you? Think about you alot too.
Aleka, how long do you have before you have to move? When you get all done, you'll be able to set up a brand new house with only the things that you love and really want to have. I've been working on that for the past year, throwing out or giving away stuff that is just clutter anyway. It would be a major project if I only had a month or so to do it in. You've had to do it 2 times now, with the cottage and the house. I've been afraid I'll have to take my computer to a tech to get it professionally cleaned. We can't afford much, I have no idea even where to take it. It's working ok, but it's slow, like dial up at times. I can now use my old browser too. Are all of your pictures digital? I haven't got any on the computer, since we don't have a digital camera. That would really be hard if you lose your pictures. Maybe the computer guy you take it to can figure out how to save the pictures for you.
Can you make a back up disc from your McAfee security center? I've seen that they have a way to do it, but I've never done it, since I have nothing but recipes stored in my Word program. I guess, I should probably make a copy of that, cause I'm getting quite a collection now.
My ankle just seems to be getting worse. There is little cartiledge left in there, so it's hard to walk. I'm so angry and sad about it. I can still use the gazelle and my stationary bike, so that's what I'm planning on doing. I love to go for walks in the woods, but I've decided to limit that. I only have so much walking time left, I better use it for things like going places I need to go. I hate crutches and I don't want to have to go back to them anytime soon. They are so uncomfortable under your armpits and it's hard to get around with them. Anyway, thanks for the concern, I appreciate it. I've got lot's of things I'm thankful for and I know that there are so many other people that are worse off than I am. I feel ashamed of myself for even bringing it up when I see others that are worse off than I am.
I think I will try to follow Jorge's woe. So far, it's not too complicated and I like that. Basically, eat less, use more vegetables and a smaller plate. I can do that. I've gained 9 lbs this past month eating all the wrong things. Oh, Aleka, I looked up that books series (can't remember the author right now, it's the 1-10 series) and I noticed she's from NH. How neat. She has lots of great reviews on Amazon. I better run and quit writing a book myself, Nikki
Aleka,
Here are two stories you should read about Mozilla. I bet you got your browser installed after the new security patch was instituted, but if not, there is a link in the story here http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...pcworld/116848
where you can get a patch.
Here is also another story about Mozilla you should check out, it talks about why and who needs the patch http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...=6&u=/nf/25807
Nikki
nikki, thank you for the links. I will print the stories so DH & I can read them later. 9 lbs. isn't a bad gain. It will come off. I did lose 5 lbs. of vacation weight, but I've stayed the same ever since. Yes, Janet Evanovich is from Hanover, NH. I read the 10th one in 2 days. I would've finished it in one day, but my eyes just wouldn't take it. I started it Sat. afternoon after we had enough of throwing, and stayed up really late trying to finish it. I only had 2 chapters left to go. We do have some digital photos and some old black & white photos that DH printed out. Luckily we won't be moving until Sept. so we do have a couple of months to clean things out. We want to get enough stuff out of here so that it will look more presentable when we put the house on the market.
Hi All: Well I am still here. The weather has continued to be awful. There is no wind to blow the storm away. On sunday the same storm circled us 3x. By the afternoon we were an island. Thank God our deck is high we were able to get the dogs out on the deck. The ground is so saturated that the rain is sitting on top. We also have freguent power outages so have not been on the computer. We sprung a leak around on of the windows and have to get someone to come in today and fix it. I shouldn't complain so much we are so much luckier than the people in Peterborough. My heart goes out to them. The dogs are doing really well. DD is definately taking the male. That makes me very happy.as they will treat him the way I would and I get to see him grow up. He is so cute and is the smartest of them all. I love Janet Evanovich also and didn't realize her new one was out. I am leaving on Thursday to visit with Mom and baby-sit my GS. I will stay until Sunday. On Friday my DB and new girlfriend are hosting a party and want all her family and his to be there. Could this mean an engagement???? I hope so, I really like her. Well hope you are all well it is clouding over and getting dark so must run and get the dogs sorted. Talk to you soon
It finally has stopped raining and we ended up having a great day. This is supposed to last until Sunday.
lynn, you really are having a bad time of it with all the rain you've been having. Has it stopped yet? Thankfully you got the dogs to safety with all the water you have. I am thinking about you and hope that the water recedes quickly and that everything will be ok. Glad that your DD will be taking one of the puppies. I know I would have a hard time letting them go. Have a nice visit with your mother and a good time at the party.
I won't be posting for a few days. DH is taking our computer into the shop tomorrow so that they can install our old style browser and also install some sort of firewall so that this won't happen again, hopefully. They said last year they fixed 40 of this type of virus, and this year they've seen over 400 computers with this virus. What took the cake, was this morning we lost the connection to our printer and no matter what DH did, he couldn't reconnect it again. Hopefully we'll have the computer back by Monday or Tuesday.
Hi,
Lynn, man your having a hard time of it. I sure hope that storm blows away soon. Hope your visit is a good one and that the water recedes soon.
Aleka, that is a good idea. If I had the money, I'd get this one to the shop asap. We are having major car problems. We have 3 cars, the cadillac has not run right for about 6 months, so it just sits in the driveway. Then the truck started to act up last month, so we've both been driving DH's convertible. Now, something is wrong with it. I'm not sure what it is, but I bet it will cost a lot. DH puts things like regular matenaince off for ever. That converible is a '92 and it's never had a tune up. I told DH we have to get them all going in the next few months, no matter what. We haven't got the money for any of them, so I guess we will have to cut back on some things, like food and going out. Since I've been gaining weight the last month or so, cutting back on food will probably be good for me .
Anne, I sure hope everything is ok with you, I think about all you guys alot and care how you are. Talk to you all in a few days, Nikki
Hi Guys: Arrived here in Burlington and when I left guess what !!!! Surprise surprise it was raining. I am so glad to be away from it for a while. It is very hot and humid here and very poor air quality, on that note Anne how is your dad coping. Another one of the dogs is promised to a really nice couple and the best part is his father is a friend of DH's ( golfing buddy) so I will be able to see it grow up. Also she is going to talk to her mother who was looking for a friend for her dog. I told her and DD to think of names and get back to me so I can start calling them by names. God Nikki what a nuisence to have the cars not working. Sharing a car is so hard to get used to. good luck!!!! Aleka hope they get your computer fixed. Well must go and phone DH and hear how he is surviving dog sitting. Bye for now.
