NASCAR, I had those same thoughts yesterday as I watched the news. This is a sad time for NASCAR fans. He was a great racer and will be missed by many.

Yes, this is very sad and tragic, and to think that it happened during the final laps of the 500 is really terrible. After no one was injured in the other accident, Dale was killed in one that didn't even look that bad. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Even though I'm not a NASCAR fan, this is still very upsetting.

It's very sad. I know lots of people that are big fans of his. My thoughts go out to family and friends and NASCAR Women.

Very seldom do I venture out from posting on my "regular" thread, and I'm also one of those who doesn't really follow NASCAR racing. However, you don't have to be a diehard fan to know what a great driver and man Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was. He was very respected and loved, and will be greatly missed. My heart ached for his son who probably didn't even know what had happened until after the race was over. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. As I heard the news, I immediately thought of NASCAR woman. You are also in my thoughts.

I'm very much a NASCAR fan while I would have never ever in my life really been a "Dale" fan I always respected him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the NASCAR racing community.

To All,
Although i am not a Nascar fan my husband is and was crying last night as well as my brother was. You see, We are from New york near the city and there are not many Nascar fans here. I watched the races with him and Dale was a respected person in the Nascar community, that at least I know. He will be greatly missed and Nascar will never be the same!

To NASCAR Woman,
I was looking for the message board where I saw you posts to send my sympathy to you, his family, fans and fellow racers.

I am a huge NASCAR fan and have been to several races. We (my husband and I) had a love/hate relationship with Dale. We didn't always approve of his aggressive racing style however we respected him for only Dale could get away with the things he did!

We loved to listen to him on the race scanners as he was VERY verbal and colorful.
I was wishing that they would finish 1-2-3 and how great that would be.
Unfortunatly the Lord felt differently. It really hurts for such tragedy to happen at the last turn of the last lap with a half of a mile to go. We are not supposed to ask why -- just to trust God.
He will be greatly missed and Racing has been changed forever as of 5:16 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2001.

NASCAR WOMAN,
If you are out there how are you doing? We miss you.
I hear Tony Stewart is doing better. Have you heard anything?
I watched the memorial yesterday. It was so sad.

Pick up a copy of USA Today as they have a poster and many articles in tribute to his life and career.

Kel

Ps - she doesn't get over here much because she posts at Dotti's so much!

We watched the race and the memorial. My husband is a big racing fan and racing hopeful (working on one in the garage now). We were hit hard even though we didn't know Dale personally. He had a presence that will be missed and can never be replaced. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

I posted a link to this thread and advised NASCAR about it and here is what she posted, "I don't go to 3FC anymore

Wish them well for me but after the last time, I don't go to 3FC's any longer.

I just saw an update that his lapbelt was broken. NASCAR is looking into it further as they don't know when it happened, before or during the accident. It is just so sad. Can't watch the Memorial service yet. One of the papers today said "he will always have the checkered flag in heaven".
We shouldn't cry for him for he is in a better place. It is so hard to lose someone in the prime of their life.

Kelly_S,
What happened the last time with NASCAR.
Her and I had a thread and I wondered why she wasn't posting. Could you send me a PM?
Thanks,
Terri

I didn't want to come back here, but Dale deserves this tribute.

I Still Can't Believe He's Gone. Dale We Miss You

When they roll off on Sunday, it will still be impossible to believe he is dead. The following is a poem, it doesn’t rhyme, it doesn’t flow as I would want it to. It is simply an expression of grief. Dale will never be replaced, he will always be missed; but we must go on, cause he woulda wanted it that way.

He died, doing what he loved.
Doing the one thing he knew.
Doing the thing he lived and breathed.
He talked about it, he planned for it……….
He knew, somewhere in the very depths of his soul, that this day would come.
The day the world would say good bye to the Intimidator.
I learned today, when your time is up, your time is up.
52 years, never before, has a harness failed.

Dale’s did.

His time was up.
God wanted him home.
Dale believed.
Dale is home.

Jr. is sad, but speaks of selfish pity.
As do we all.

We will miss Big E, the Intimidator.
The Black #3 ~ never to race again.

We want him here,
But God wanted him home,
Dale, we all feel so alone…………………….

Dale, you ARE loved. You are missed. All of us selfish people wanting you here, we miss you.

Teresa, my thoughts are with you; you are a strong woman, an admired woman. Dale Jr., win it for your Daddy this weekend. We are pulling for you.

Dale, go rest high on that mountain......you work on earth is done. You are now, an angel amoung us. Watch over your NASCAR brethren. They need you.

My words are weak, you are the best. There will never be another Intimidator. Enjoy your time with YOUR daddy and with Neil. Know that you are missed.
