Default tuesday chat 6/22/04

good afternoon, all. i haven't been on in quite awhile. dd and i returned from our month-long visit with supersized in the states last wednesday night. we were able to paint the entire interior minus one small room of her home. super is gonna try to come here to visit with us in the fall. we can hardly wait. i don't have a clue as to what is going on with everyone, as i have not even been popping in to lurk. i hope all of you are doing well. have a great day everyone!

Good MORNING fullfig: that will never stop crackin me up. It's the little things I guess. Glad you had a nice visit with supersize. You painted almost her entire house? WOW, and I am hesitating painting a bedroom! Good to see you.

Had planned on exercising last night but didn't I just can't seem to get off my big old butt lately. This is the first week that I don't have much going on and I just wanted to go home and work in my sewing room....I started back working on a crazy quilt that has needed my attention for quite some time now. It felt good to get some work done on that but still I know I really should have exercised. Maybe tonight...........

Well, off to start working.

Hi Fullfig--welcome back. Glad you had a great visit!!

Well, the dog is now in a kennel in the back of DH truck waiting for me to go take it to the pound. The DD's are crying and begging me to keep her. So far I'm remaining strong...but the thing is SOO cute!!! Especially when it looks up at you with those sad puppy brown eyes!! She's "puppy" sized compared to our lab...which topped the scale yesterday at 90+ pounds!! So I'll be stepping up my plan a little in looking for another puppy (pug, shitzu or another smaller sized dog). I've got pictures of the dog w/the girls (they wanted them), I'll try and remember to post one of the dog tomorrow or the next day

Hi Jane. What's a crazy quilt?? I've made the girls blankets, but I've never tried making anything bigger. The idea boggles me. I have a hard enough time doing the twin sizes. How do you manage??

A crazy quilt is traditionally done in satins and black velvet. I decided to do it all in satin....working with the velvet is a

You just sew random pieces of fabric in a kind of "crazy" pattern....well no pattern actually....just keep sewing them together until the block is finished size. Then you embellish each square with embroidery, ribbons, buttons whatever you like. Since I just got my new embroidery machine I will be doing mostly that on the quilt.

Maybe if I finish it some day I will post pictures.

As for time....I don't have enough...and I don't have kids....I don't know how you all do it.

That crazy quilt sounds SOO cool!! I've always wanted to make a patchwork quilt, but couldn't figure out how to do it in queen size w/out it bunching up on the bottom (my mistakes with the twins do that ). I usually sit on the living room floor, have the DH keep the corners straight while I use my knee to operate the foot pedal It's funny actually to see that. And now that I've lost weight bending in contortions to do stuff like that should be easier

Bunched up at the bottom?????? Do you mean because of all the fabric?

I tend to make smaller quilts myself.....mostly wall quilts. I don't have the patience to make a larger quilt. This is the first one for me......and last night I discovered that I only had 10 blocks done and was going to need at least 30!

Good morning!

You all sound like a bunch of domestic goddesses today!

Fullfig - good to see you back! Tell your sister I miss her!

Jane - Up and at 'em! Exercise makes you feel good and keeps that positive energy swirling around you.

Brenda - You think your dog is big? I went to my brother's on Sunday and I saw his chocolate lab for the first time in almost a year. That dog is HUGE! My brother told me he weighs about 135 now. Can you believe it? The thing weighs more than me! Wa-hooo! Anyway, they got a second, smaller dog. She's a cross between a rat terrier and a pug and is one of the cutest things I've ever seen in my life.

I had a long day yesterday so I didn't really post much. I think the universe was working against me. I overslept, then raced into work and when I got there I realized that I left my laptop at home. At lunchtime, I decided that a low carb pizza from Winco sounded good, but as I was leaving to run out there, a co-worker stopped me with a bunch of questions. When I finally left, I had 30 minutes to drive out there, get the pizza (you have to wait around 5 minutes for it) and get back. So I get there and guess what? They don't make them anymore! Argh! So now I'm hungry and I only have 15 minutes to get something to eat and make the 10 minute drive back to work so I'm not late for my 1:00 meeting. So what do I do? McDonald's chicken nugget mighty kid's meal. Double argh!

Anyway, it's Tuesday and I got to work on time and even got sleep last night, so maybe the universe will work WITH me today

Have a great day everyone!

Hey StarPrincess: Good to see you today. Sounds like you had a stressful day. Hope today is better. A Rat Terrier and a Pug and you think it is the cutest thing?????? I bet it is even considering it's heritage!

Fullfig: So good to see you around! I'm glad you had a nice visit with supersized. I'm looking forward to seeing her around again, too.

Jane: I agree with you -- I don't see how people with kids manage! I am busy and still don't get everything I need to get done with just myself.

Brenda: You are strong! I could never give a dog away to the pound. I'm a sucker for cute dogs.

Well, weigh-in last night went fabulously! I lost 2.75 pounds! That gets me to my lowest weight on this weight-loss journey. Hopefully, next week I can keep this up for a third loss in a row.

Exercise has been pretty non-existent lately. I just feel too busy to exercise. I know I should make it a priority, but I just feel overwhelmed. I'm working on a big project for work and trying to move in less than a week. I figure I should at least get some exercise carrying boxes and loads of other crap down the stairs!

Well, I'd better get back to work. I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Take care,
Jina

Good Morning all!

Well, I didnt get out of bed again once again this morning. I think my DD is out to get me.. another night of crying! Im not quite sure what the problem is. She says it is too hot.. but sheesh!

Another busy day ahead. The kids and I are leaving to go to a friends hous in about an hour. The middle child is in my son's class at school and the mom is my Girl Scout Leader Mentor. Her computer wont connect to th internet, so I am going to find out why! The kids are going to play on the slip and slide while we are there!

Eating is going well! I am going to have to post my Lamb chop Recipe that I made last night! OMG it was good! Even the kids liked it.. and the marinade was made with Myers dark Rum! (the recipe called for Gin but I didnt have any in the house... my grandmother said rum was good for everything...And it was true in this case!)

My induction headache is gone... but TOM is on the way.. SIGH...

FULFIG - I missed you! You and Supersized need to post again!

Jane - I love crazy quilts! I have never made one, but The store I teach crochet at has classes in making them. I want to take a class once the kids are back in school! Of course, I need to get my machine fixed first!

Brenda - Good for you being so strong (so far) with the dog! My black Lab/german shepard mix is 7 months old and weighs already 70 pounds or so! The vet thinks she has great dane in her....

Star - What a day you had! I know today will be better for you! I love pugs! If we ever get another dog, I really want one of those!!

Jina - Again.. I have to tell you GREAT JOB! You will have a good weigh in this next week too!

. I am going to go read more posts then Leave for our computer/play date! I'll be back later!

Hugs to all!

Karen-glad the headache is gone but sorry DD isn't sleeping well. Does she have a fan in her room?

Jina- How do you manage to lose weight w/out exercising? I want your secret!!!!! Congrats on the poundage lost!!

Star- Hope your day is going better. Pugs are the cutest dogs. We've been talking about getting another (small though) dog. It's a toss up between a pug or a mini wiener dog (schnauzer? no. that's not what it's called either. what are those long wiener dog things called?). Now it's just deciding and then finding one we want

Jane- Yup, bunched up from all the material. I tend to "gob" stuff together if I'm not careful. I made the girls blankets for Christmas this last year. Might do it again this year. I haven't gone so far as to make matching curtains. Maybe instead of a blanket I'll make them the matching curtains

Well, after being late to work by 1/2 hour the dog is now at the pound. Actually, our vet clinic here in town is our pound. And I've talked to them before, unless the dog is vicious or aggressive (and sometimes not even on that case) they don't put them down. So the dog is in good hands. I'm HOPING the owner comes to claim her!! I'm going to be hunting for another dog soon!! The oldest DD is SO sad and upset Not much I can do about it as the dog really SHOULD be with it's owners if it has some!!
Well, I'm off to get DH's truck fixed. You all have a great day!!
