Default Weekly TG chat - week of May 31 thru June 6

Where the heck is everyone?? I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend! My son and DIL came up and spent the weekend with us ... we had some storms - bonfires - and went to the casinos!

Oh I do hope you all start posting here again! I really would hate to have to close The Thin Group - we've been together for such a long time! Well, I'll keep the doors unlocked and the coffee on in the meantime. Hope to see ya all real soon!

Love, CJ

Default Guess What????

Can you believe this. I finally made it back. My life has been so crazy, I haven't even had a moment to stop and pay a visit to 3FC. How is everyone doing?

I have pretty well stayed at the same increased weight since the last time that I was here. I find it very depressing, but am hoping that things will change. I was at the doctor a couple of weeks ago for a pre-op medical. Sure enough, he weighed me - I had even been avoinding him since my weight had gone up, but couldn't do it any longer. He gave me the usual hassle about my weight and suggested that I cut carbs and sugar out of the diet.

I don't have problems cutting carbs - I can take or leave them - with the exception of pasta. He made a deal with me to cut out pasta for a month, along with sugar, and see what happens. I was explaining this to hubby when I went home and he was telling me that a few of his staff are on the South Beach Diet. I immediately went to the Web to check it out, then bought all the books, and decided to give it a try. I didn't want anything that was no carb/no sugar but high fat. I started 2 weeks ago and have lost 10.25 pounds in the last 2 weeks. AND it is food that I enjoy eating.

I have to see the doctor again in 1 1/2 months, so am hoping to be down a few pounds, at least.

I lost a lot of weight with WW, but I was finding at the end that I was starving, on top of not really liking the food that I was eating. That, combined with some medication that I was taking at the time contributed to a complete lack of discipline and an excuse for weight gain. I am back on track now (hopefully), and am disciplining myself to doing the weight loss again.

I have been browsing through the threads, but don't see anyone posting. Here's my post....anyone else up to the challenge.

Just popped in to check for any posts and to say hello and look who came in the door! Peggy!! I am so glad to see you! Yes, our group is down at the moment with only a handfull of us left, but ... I have a lot of hope that we will survive! I won't give up, even if I have to post and talk to myself every day! I have been doing lo-carb and I have to say I have been feeling much better since I cut out breads, sweets ... but I do indulge occassionally. Good job on the 10 lbs already lost ... I do hope you continue to post with us ... have missed you.

I talked with Sharon today ... she has been extremely busy working and is having a lot of problems of late with her brother .. he is not well and she is taking care of him ... she may post in a few days so I will let her explain .. she is very stressed out right now. She says to say hello to everyone!

Slyvia??? Where are you girlfriend?? Is Geno teething again?? I hope you are not just "lurking" ... lol

Well ... got my garden planted today ... now I hope everything grows.

Talk to ya all later ...

Love, CJ

Hello Ladies!

Just popping in for a quick hello. Sorry for not posting, I've been quite the busy woman. My beautiful 9 month old Nico is WALKING!! Yes, he is all over the place and climbing on everything. He has even tried to climb out of his crib! This isn't supposed to happen at 9 months right? I've been watching what I eat and lord know that I'm getting my exercise. What is he going to be like when he turns two? Lord help me!

CJ-I'm glad you left the door open, you never know who will pop in! We won't let this group die out!

Peggy- Welcome back!

Gotta run, Nico is trying to climb the coffe table!

Love-
Sylvia

Good morning everyone - coffee's on!

This is going to be a quickie as I'm really feeling rotten! My allergies are really bad right now and I have such a nasty sore throat from the draining! I'm drinking lots and lots of hot green tea.

Slyvia: Well ... you've got your hands full now that's for sure! But look at all the calories you are burning! lol

Peggy: Don't be a stranger now .. please post with us often!

Sharon: Thinking of you girlfriend! Post soon.

Had a huge hole in the wall of our kitchen yesterday .. hubby is putting in a new window .. it looks really nice. Today have to finish my laundry and put a few things together for us as we are going downstate for a week to clear out some more of the house - and to see grandkids too of course!

Slowly getting myself back to faithfully following lo-carb again - with no "cheating" ...

Well ... I'll check back later to see if anyone posts ... I'll keep the door open!
Have a great day!

Love, CJ

Howdy!

Like always, I'm just "popping" in for a quick hello. I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Today I went to the zoo with my sister and niece. We walked around for 3 hours...that burned a few calories. Nico wasn't happy because I wouldn't let him out of the stroller to walk around. Good thing, the gorillas were having fun flinging their pooh (can I say that?) at people. We had walked by when I saw the gorilla going towards the crowd and then I saw the pooh flying. Pretty funny...I know, I have a sick sense of humor

I am sure getting a lot of exercise now that Nico is walking. He doesn't want to be held, he just wants to walk. My parents are out of the country (again) so I will be watching my niece again. Yup, I will be doing a lot of running especially watching a walking 9 month old and a running 14 month old. I'll keep all of you posted(hopefully )

CJ- I'm sure your house looks nice. Thank for keeping the door open...you never know who will pop in!

Well ladies, I'm off to bed!

Have a great day!

Sylvia

Good morning all - this will be just a quickie for me also. We are downstate now for a week ... going to pack up some more stuff from the house! I'm really dragging here as I am still struggling with this darn sinus infection!

Slyvia - too funny about the gorillas! But, reminds me of the monkey my parents had when I was a very small child (yes, I said monkey). Josie was it's name and she sure was awnry! She would do the same thing with the pooh whenever the gasman or electric man would come into the yard to read the meters - she would throw her pooh at them! My brother sicked the monkey on my sister one day and ever since then it would go after my sister every time it saw her - so of course, my parents got rid of Josie. I actually have an old newspaper article about this monkey ... a friend of my father's brought him back with him from the Pacific when he was discahrged. Josie (the monkey) actually was presented to Joe E. Brown when he was in the Philipines. When he left the islands he left the monkey with the Serviceman's Center and from there she moved to Okinawa with the troops and was scheduled to go along for the occupation of Tokyo but higher authority intervened. Then my father's friend acquired her and smuggled her into the States on his return from duty.

Hey Peggy - don't dissappear on us now ... Hope to hear from you soon.

Sharon: Thinking of you - hope to see you post with us soon too!

Sherry: Hope all is going well for you .. miss you!

OK ... talk to everyone later .. have a great day

Love, CJ

Hey! I'm still here...

Had a busy weekend...we are trying to finish yard work. It has been a late start this year. Partly procrastination and partly because we have been too busy to get anything done.

Hubby is teaching a bunch of courses this spring (part-time), so somes home from work and spends 3 or 4 hours on the computer every night. The courses are on-line, so he doesn't actually have classes, just computer classes. He spent 3 hours marking papers yesterday afternoon and just got 5 papers, out of 21 finished.

I was also away for a bit - nother grandchild. Bouncing baby boy 9lb. 15 oz. Our daughter had a C Section, so I went to Saskatchewan to give her a hand for a while.

Next week, I am booked for surgery...seems ominous, but just have to get the wisdom teeth out. Go ahead and laugh... Everyone else is. Anyway, I am planning on being sick and having people wait on me around the house.

Nice to hear from you, CJ and Sylvia. Where is everyone else? Seems to be much, much too quiet here. Maybe we should start some rumours...see how fast everyone gets back here.

Have a great day...talk to y'all later.

Just poppin in while Nico sleeps. He's teething again so this quiet time may be short lived.

I was going to take Nico for a walk around the Bay trails that overlook the San Francisco Bay but with wind gusts of 50 miles an hour that idea was thrown out the window. I did take him for a nice walk to the grocery store and park. He really likes the kiddie swings so I got some more exercise pushing him. I'm going to go down and ride the stationary bike after I post this. So I am trying to exercise. Now I just have to work on the eating...

CJ- Your monkey story cracks me up. I can just imagine the gas and electric man trying to out run flying monkey pooh! I wish I had a monkey when I was growing up! It sure would make show and tell at school fun!

Sweet Tooth- CONGRATS ON THE NEW GRANDSON!!! Good thing your daughter had a csection...9lb. 15 oz that would hurt! Good luck on your surgery next week....I had my wisdom teeth taken out and everyone laughed as well. They apologized to me when it was there turn.

Judy- I hope you come back and post!

Sharon- We miss you woman!

Sherry- Yooohooo! Come out, come out wherever you are!

Hello to all of you lovely lurkers We know you are out there....we can hear you breathing!

I'm off to do some exercise!

Have a great day!

Peggy: Congrats on the new grandchild! 9lb 15 oz .. whooee - that smarts! lol .... About your wisdom teeth .. I'm not laughing .. just glad it's not me! Hope all goes well and you get that special attention while recovering.

Slyvia: I don't think walking in 50mph winds is a good idea either. You are definately getting in a lot of exercising .. good luck on the food - I know you can do it! Me? I'm doing ok on the food - it's the exercising I have to work on.

Well ... I'm off now to start the new weekly thread for this week. See you ALL there! All you L-U-R-K-E-R-S ... follow me!

Love, CJ
