Default Congrats to Kim Thursday

Hey all,

Anyhoo, I ate dinner out last night... Didn't do badly, maybe should have reduced the portion slightly, but otherwise did well I think... Next time I'll try and eat a little less... Tweaking is a good thing and I keep doing that

Kim: Congrats I am so happy for you!!

Cheers!

Ali

Ali - where has everyone disappeared to? Maybe it's just you and me (although if Kim hops on then we would be doubled because she counts as 2!!!) I hope you enjoyed your dinner. I ended up not eating dinner because I was in too much of a rush and then going out for a couple of beer after volleyball. I have no potluck tonight so hopefully I can make up for those couple of unplanned beer - I did manage to avoid the nachos that were ordered by the rest of the table YAY ME! And I'll get in another hike today at lunch. The weather's been weird lately. Very muggy and not sunny so it's like walking in a light sauna. OK - off to do something productive - come out and play people!!!

CONGRATULATIONS KIM!! I am so happy for you. Will you come back now that you don't have to hang out on getting preg sites? WE have lots of moms here you know.

Well, basically the move itself (ie: packing, moving and unpacking) was fine. But the day of the move was from ****...for starters, the sale of our condo went to **** in a hand basket, as I think I told you (buyers waived the condition of financing but really never had financing and didnt' bother to try to get it until 2 weeks before closing). But then the day before our move, the lawyer says that MCAP, our lender with whom we have a current mortgage, requires documentation that I have paid off my car (Feb 2003) b/c their docs say I should have a loan, but my credit rating is too good and doesn't show the loan...riiiiight.....so, I call Royal Bank loan centre in Vancouver. Of course, they won't fax over a letter b/c you ahve to pay $5, and I have no account with them. They won't take credit card. They said they'll mail it, but that is all. They said they'd call calgary to see if they would accept a fax, and if so I can pick it up there on Monday - which is way past closing. (By the way, if MCAP Wants to be very thorough, I have no problem with that, but we signed the agreement and had fianancing in place on March 3 - there is no excuse for asking for this the day of our closing - so please dont' get your mortgage through them - they SUCK and the kicker is that we have an existing mortgage through them and have never defaulted or missed a payment)

So, I call my broker, he says he doesnt' know why this is happening as they never mentioned it before, and he'd call them Friday morning.

Come Friday at 9am we realize we are out of boxes, so we took some to the house (we had the keys) to empty and then go back. While there, I phone the bank to see what is up with the letter. They know nothing. I call Vancouver and they give me the same run around. I escalate to management. I am on the phone for 90 minutes with them, and in the meantime, my broker calls on the cell to say that he needs verification of where our $ is coming from for the downpayment. We had the cash, so we were paying upfront, not bridge finanancing. ANyway, they wanted this b/c they think we are up to no good, as we couldn't have POSSIBLY paid off the car and had $ to spare...JERKS!! Anyway, we have no computer and don't have time to go to our banks to get printouts, so we gave our broker all our online info to download for us and fax. I am STILL on the phone with Royal bank. He then calls back and says - we don't need the letter with all the banking info, which proves we weren't paying a loan and had $. And I had JUST got them to agree to give me a letter. (another kicker is that when I did pick up the letter in Calgary, the teller wouldn't let me pay the $5 which was the reason those jerks wouldn't help me in the first place. I am soooo boycotting Royal Bank too).

Well, it's now 12:30 and the movers are coming at 1pm and DF went back to the condo to finish packing. I am in TEARS at this point. Then the lawyer phones to say that she wants proof we are on the tax installment program (which is none of thier concern) and I have packed my letter of confirmation. I try to call the City, they won't fax anything until Monday. I freak out and escalate and after 30 min and some crying they agree to fax to my office. I then have to coordinate my co-worker to get the fax and send to the lawyer. The lawyer also informs me that I will have to pay more legal fees because of the jerks buying the condo who had no financing - we have done the documents TWICE. I am so hearing the small claims court calling.

Anyhoooo...that is how it went. I heard on Teusday that our purchase closed and we did sign an amendment for the sale of the condo with new owners....

WORST move EVER. Oh, and we STILL don't have a mailbox key, which is unacceptable.

Happily, the house is fantastic and we even go the microwave, which wasn't in the agreement. So, that's bonus. Cuz I swear if something went wrong I'd change my name and leave the country.

Well, that's a novel and I have to run but I'll BBL

Belle: I am so sorry for all the hassles you are going through. It's okay to be ticked and hey don't be scared of small claims court, that's what they are there for. Hugs! At least you have moved... I boycotted Royal Bank years ago after they treated me badly (they wouldn't give me a bank card, I switched banks)... Eek no mail box key?? Call Canada Post ASAP!!!

KT: I haven't exercised yet and this may be the first day this month I haven't oh well, I have been really good as of late. Yah for saying no to the nachos.

Speaking of which, I have to send in a health questionnaire for my mortgage insurance since I was honest and said my parents had health problems... Here's the problem, my BMI is 26 right now, which is 1 above the normal weight cut-off... It ticks me off... my normal weight is about 150 which gives me a five lb leeway. I have some fat, but I am sure it's less than 25%.... I am scared they won't give me insurance due to this... Should I write and mention that I am taking care of myself, my health is good and that I exercise regularly and that I am a size 8 right now?

Cheers!

Ali

Ali, my insurers weighed me themselves and I have a bmi of like 34 or something and I got coverage. No worries.

Belle: thanks, I guess I got needlessly upset then... I guess I don't like the whole BMI thing...

You take care!

Hey gals! Thanks for the congrats. I'm pretty much floating on air these days! Of course, I think morning sickness really started today. I've been queasy for several hours and I'm trying to work through it. Bleh.

Belle: What a time you're having! I hope it all works out. My DH and I have been house hunting since December and have had bad luck. We've put four offers on houses but been outbid. It really stinks. Now we think we need to lower how much we want to spend because I really want to quit working after the baby comes, or at least go part time.

Ali and Belle: You have to disclose your weight for insurance? Really?

Hi KT and everyone else out there!

Holey Moley Belle! What a hard time to go through. I'm glad you got through it and will be able to settle down into your new house. How does your dog like it at the new place? And - I agree with Ali - small claims court all the way - no WAY you should have to pay double the lawyers fees when it's their fault - and throw in an extra couple of hundred for "pain and suffering."

Kim - it's rough to be outbid but I'm sure when your "perfect" house will come along it will be yours immediately and you'll be glad you were outbid on all the other houses.

Ali - I think the BMI is unreliable and they would probably just look at overall health and you're totally fine - Is your brother out yet?
