Thumbs up Sugar Addiction - NO MORE CRAVINGS!!!!

I'm so excited. I realized this weekend that it had been several weeks since I last craved a Coke (my biggest addiction). As recently as 2 weeks after starting SBD, I still wanted a Coca-Cola so badly that tears would come to my eyes every time I thought about it. I would get the shakes, and I would think sabotaging thoughts. (e.g., "Being thin isn't worth giving up my Coke, is it?")

But now, 38 days after my last Coke...

I don't crave it any more! When I want a treat, I can happily have a Diet Cherry Coke. I have always HATED the taste of EVERY diet drink - in fact of anything with artificial sweeteners, but I've reached a point where I look forward to it.

I had to share such a wonderful non-scale victory. I never thought I'd reach a place where I wouldn't want Coke all the time. I want to offer hope to anyone else who is battling sugar addiction. It is hard to break, and anyone who tells you differently obviously hasn't been there. I still don't eat as many carbs as Phase II allows...I think I'm a little afraid of those cravings. However, I'm easing myself in. I do allow myself treats, such as cupcakes at my son's birthday, but the next meal, I'm right back on track, and I feel great.

Thanks to all on this board! I don't post much, but I get so much from reading about everyone's journeys.

Sometimes I treat myself to a caffeine free diet coke but I don't have such an urge for sweet foods anymore. Must have stable blood sugars by now!

Yes...I know EXACTLY what you mean...I am also a sugar junkie. People laugh at that term but it is very real, it can hook you and put you on an emotional roller coaster...I have to avoid it completely. I haven't really touched bread, fruit, or sugar since I started. I know one bite will send me over the edge.

What about chocolate? that's my downfall. I can resist pepsi and chips and stuff but i have a haaard time with chocolate. We've been getting Asher's sugar free products and Russel Stover's products. It's good too because I can't eat too many without the unfortunate side effects... so it keeps portion control good.
My hubby and I used to eat so much candy it's a wonder we were ever awake, or able to move. *L* It's a bit better now, but if i don't get my daily dosage there's trouble!

I wonder if this will ever go away....
