Thumbs down

Hi All...

I was skimming through the forums and felt I had to post here! I dunno if it is just me or what but I have been in a slump lately... I was doing so good...lost 50 pounds, exercising, eating right, then I got the stupid flu/cold and couldn't exercise, and everything else sorta went to pot too. Now I just dont have the motivation to get back into the program. This is very unlike me... I am usually gung ho, happy go lucky, positive attitude. Maybe it's this cold weather...I hate it when it drops below 80° here. (yea I'm a wimp! LOL).

I saw yesterdays thread where you girls were talking about arthritis and stuff...just wanted to pop in here that I have it too. I actually have 3 different forms. Osteo, RH, and AS. (anklosing spondylitis). I have been on Celebrex since 2000. What a miracle drug it has been for me!! I probably would of been in a wheelchair by now if it wasn't for Celebrex. The only drawback was that it took about a month to fully kick in, and you must take it with FOOD. I tried taking it one time with just tea. Learned my lesson really fast!!
I was also on the injectible methotrexate shots (chemo drug) for 3 years. Hence why we live in Arizona now. The combo of that and the humidity in Oregon was just about making me an invalid. I managed to wean off of the metho when I moved here, but not without causing liver damage. Stupid arthritis!! I just thank GOD though that I am able to live again because it could of been worse. But there are those days, especially when you have a flare-up, when you want to scream. Fortunately, the warmer it gets here, the less flare-ups I get.
Anyhow, didn't mean to babble on. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. If you need an "arthritis sister", ya got one.

Default Good morning!

HI everyone!

Just a quick hello......had a great long weekend. We had family day on Monday.

Friday night I went to Jesus Christ Superstar with my husband and daughter. It is was good to see.

We had fun celebrating my 6 year old as well. She had 15 friends over during the day Saturday and in the evening the family......so it was wonderful.

Hope all is well.

Have a great day.

Liz

Anybody hear about the Passion of Christ Movie with Mel Gibson?

Good Afternoon Chickadees! I've been at my doctor's office all morning for a follow up on my thyroid and stuff. He mentioned several things, but said that I sound like I have low testosterone and talked about doing some blood work to check that??? said that low testosterone causes low or no sex drive, brain fog, inability to lose weight, etc. I have never thought about my testosterone levels??? does anybody know anything about testosterone therapy or know anybody that has had that??? I told him I wanted to do a bunch of reading on it before we went that route? By his scale my weight was the same today as it was the middle of October when I saw him. Which basically means all I have done is lose the 2 lbs I gained over Christmas. But my temp was up to 98.0 this morning, and was only 97.0 back in October. He was pleased about that. I told him I do feel better, we just don't know if I feel "better" enough yet! The 3 things I've notice is less hair loss, temp is up a little and I don't seem to be walking around in such a thick fog these days. Still foggy - just not so thick.

Leenie - is that why you said you have a day off today? bec the boss is gone today? I sure hope your dd is feeling better? did she just throw up bec she was coughing so hard? do you run around with extra clothes in your car? I did when mine were little.

Noodles - hey! we talked a couple of times in the chatroom. Jump in anytime you want and join us!

Hey Liz I know you love your family time! and you should! that's great! oh yes! I have heard lots and lots about Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ. Poor Mel Gibson has really been scrutinized for making this movie - that kind of stuff makes no sense to me - but I guess all the controversy will make people run go see it. I have no idea how I will be able to sit thru 2 hours of watching Jesus being beat and crucified, but I feel I need to see it. Also, as a personal conviction, me and dh do not watch R rated movies, and a lot of pg-13 movies don't make it too far with us either , so it will be very strange that we will be going to see an R rated movie about Jesus, but I know that the violence must be just too gruesome to rate it any other way. are you gonna see it? I heard someone speaking this morning that saw it, and he said there were no words to describe the movie, and that all he could say about it was that he "always knew that Jesus loved him, but he never realized how much, until he saw this movie".

Hey April tell us about your appointment when you get back, if that is not too personal. I get carried away with my questions sometimes

Where is the rest of our gang today?

I need to do some work and eat my lunch.
will be back later,
hugs,
cathy

Hi again ladies

Cathy....I went to see the counsellor this morning.....am feeling better these days....for the last 9 days....I increased the Celexa to 40 mg 3 1/2 weeks ago...the counsellor said....with the strong family history of depression.....I probably need 40 mg....plus the light box twice a day. So I don't see her for another month.
Last time I was there she mentioned....she wanted me to do volunteer work....have never done any since the kids were in kindergarten.....it is just not my thing....my DH said if I did volunteer work & didn't really want to....it would just be another stressor in my life.
She didn't bring it up....I didn't bring it up either.
I do know because we don't have any family here except DS3 & his GF.....that I do have to get out with friends....I do that....usually 3 times a week.

I am doing well with my eating program today...later will go on the treadmill.

Leenie....when you are doing Atkins....what percentage of of your food you eat in a day is for carbohydrates?....when you enter the food into FitDay....just curious.
About 3 or 4 years ago....I was doing this eating program with a dietician.....it was lower carbohydrates......there were 4 starchy foods on it...like bread, potatoes...in that group.

Noodles.....I have osteoarthritis in a lot of other areas....besides the joints at the top of the legs. I have it in all my ribs since I was 30....lumbar & sacral spine....right knee....the 2nd metatarsal of my left foot....called Fryeburgs disease....an arthritic condition....the bone of the 2nd metatarsal is dead....pieces of it chip away....plus my neck....I guess that is a lot of places.

Liz.....I have heard of that movie.....The Passion of Christ....DH & I saw the Prime Time last night with Mel Gibson....the movie is supposed to be real powerful.....do you think it will come to our movie theatres?

Cathy....maybe I need testoserone also.

I had better go & have lunch....I think maybe I have been writing a book here.

April

HI just a quick hello

........before I start though I was wondering if the moderator could do anything about the fact that I did not get any of the 3fc notifications that someone posted? Do you know what I mean? I haven't changed any of my options.

I think that Mel Gibson appeared unstable in his interview with Diane Sawyer last night. I won't be going to the movie. I do not go to movie's about vietnam or the holocaust either. I don't need to see it to believe it happened...nor am I interested in sitting and watching 2 hours of "passion".....aka violence.....everyone is talking about it though so was wondering what everyone else's thought's were on the subject...it is ok by the way to have differing opinions about things..have a good conversation where people don't necessarily agree.....other wise everything is always safe and terribly boring.

Just a thought. And yes April the movie will be coming to Canada.

Bye for now!

Hey Lynnie BRAVO on the exercise WTG !!

April my carb intake is about 5% (or under 20 gms a day).

Kem I love ebay, when I was decorating my daughters room b/4 she was born, I wanted to do raggedy ann, well at that time there was NOTHING out there w/raggedy ann on it so I went on Ebay and got all sorts of old vintage stuff, it was great !!! 1 year after she was born, raggedy ann stuff hit the market like you wouldn't belive. They have all sorts of stuff now OY TO LATE !!!! I remember searching for a crib blanket and they wanted $279.00, now you can get a blanket for $40.00. Good thing I didn't go for it or I'd a be kicking my arse royally.

Cathy & Liz, I am looking forward to seeing The Passion, I know its going to be violent and I'll probably cry during the whole movie but I'm like you Cathy, I feel I need to see it and I feel I need to support Mel and his efforts for bringing this movie to our attention. I would think it would be hard to attract today's movie goers if there wasn't something in it like violence or sex. But lets face it, when Christ was crucified it was no picnic, it had to be so brutal, beyond our wildest imaginations. Sigh ~

Liz, PM Suzanne and tell her you are having problems, she can set you strait on whats happening.... Im clueless when it comes to that stuff.

Well gang, talk to you tomorrow

Joanne, watcha up to ???

Lynnie - wow you are the exercise queen! Somebody hand her a crown! wow! that is a lot of exercise! I am sooooooo impressed and so proud of you! did you ever think you would be exercising this much or be so addicted to it! YOU GO GIRL!

Hey Liz - yea its ok for all of us to talk about these things and like you said we don't all have to agree about everything. I love a good conversation, especially if I know that nobody will get mad at me. ;-) I saw last night's interview and thought Mel Gibson looked so figidity and even nervous. I've never seen him like that. But I know that man has been attacked left and right so maybe it has just taken a toll on him, or maybe there were other forces at work against him. I am like you tho, I don't see movies on the wars or the holocaust. I have found that I am a very sensitive person and my sweet little spirit just cannot take someone being mistreated, much less the kind of violence in those shows. Like I said, I have no idea how I will make it thru this movie - I even thought about just buying a ticket in order to support Mel Gibson in his efforts - but I just think I need to see it. I have been doing some reading about the movie and I'm hearing that it is changing lives and that even the people who were in the movie and worked on the movie had life changing experiences.

Hey I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but did anybody get to see "Radio" yet? it was very good and well worth seeing!

Let's all keep talking about......anything that ya'll want to talk about. ok?

hugs,
cathy
