Talking Tuesday Chat - February 10th

Good Morning Everyone,

And welcome aboard Skjolden !

I'm home again today DD woke up all thru the night and at 5:30 this morning was crying and saying her teeth hurt (we are waiting for her molers to come in) so besides the cold, this could also be whats going on in that little body of hers. I just can't go into work today w/her feeling like this.

Hey anyone got any Valentines plans ? do you go out, celebrate at home, do you bake, or cook dinner, what do you usually do ?

This year like every year, we don't really do anything. Just exchange cards but since the wee one is starting to pick up on things, I bought a box of barbie cards for her to give out w/her scribbles on (to her cousins aunts and gma), she had a ball doing it. Friday we are going out to eat w/some friends and family, so that will be a nice treat.

I need to get my christmas decorations in my front yard put away, normally they are down but w/all the snow and freezing weather, they are kinda frozen in the ground lol. This weekend for sure.

Besides I can't wait to decorate for Easter (WARM WEATHER OOOOH JOY). can't wait can't wait !!!!

Speaking of Easter, I think I did mention this but lent is next week, 25th. So for lent and this is going to be a killer, I am NOT going to cheat on my diet, thats 40 days y'all.......DEEP BREATH~~ BREATH BREATH

Watcha all going to do ? Its a cool thing Lent.

Okay I've blabbed enough

TTYL, Love Leenie

Good grief! Is Lent really next week? No wonder Pastor was babbling about services! I'd better remind DH to phone the Elder of the Month about Communion!
Oh Leenie, I feel so sorry for the bambino. She must hurt so much. I believe the old wives tale that teething lowers the child's immune system and they get a cold and/or a fever!
I went to the cardiologist yesterday and he took me off of the blood thinner and doesn't feel that he has to see me until Spring of 2005. My EKG was perfect.
It was a sad day though. Our elderly neighbor died Sunday morning in a nursing home. She no longer could be in her home. I guess her wish has come true and she is with her beloved Gilbert. My GD14 is crushed. She used to walk over and bring the mail in for the neighbor and visit every day. I would have loved to hear the conversations between a 14 year old and a woman in her 80's. My GS6 is sad cause he doesn't have any OLD grandma's anymore.
Nohting else new here. Going upstairs and do some sewing!

Leens that is so funny about your decorations. I guess I don't know what it is like to have frozen stuff in my yard. Most of my stuff just floats away with all of the rain we get.

We are going to a wedding on Saturday. One of our massage therapists is getting married. The we have to run over to my grandparents house. They hare having a get together for 3 poeple in the family that have b-day's this month. It is going to be a long day and unfourtunatley none of it will be spent just the 2 of us.

Tip so good to hear that your EKG came out great. I would have loved the hear what your neighbor used to talk about too. I love to hear stories about peoples lives. I always seem to learn something.

Well, no escape is going to happen for me. I tried my hardest to figure things out last night but it just wont work. The small amount we would have left over after would not really cover alot of groceries and if any unexpected thing happened we could not cover it. I just don't want to live like that. It isn't fair to either Joe or myself. As much as I hate it here I have to stick it out. I just need to work on ways to make my attitude better while I am here. Any suggestions?

Good Morning Chickadees!

It is raining cats and dogs in Louisiana again today, with no end in sight. But it's not very cold this morning. Suppose to cool off tonight I think.

Leenie - you said "watch the diet soda, you might wanna run out and get some thats made with splenda, diet rite, and I think Crush now has splenda, gotta check it out. Regular diet soda can play w/your body and have an effect on weight loss. I hope you don't get mad at me for making comments, its just that I want this so bad to work for you and any of my mistakes I would happily pass on to others so they don't do the same.

If your really craving sweets, a little sf jello won't hurt, plus you can make whipped cream w/the divinci syrups. That helps. So does glugging down some splenda soda. Do you like coleslaw ? I have a great recipe and ITS SWEET!!! CRUNCH and good, if you want."

Leenie! of course I don't mind you making comments. I need your help! Is it the aspartame in caff free diet coke that they think may affect weight loss? I can get the diet rite w/splenda. Do they have caff free diet rite? I try to keep my diet coke to one glass a day, but still. I am gonna make some sf jello today. I wasn't sure if it was ok on induction, but I figure it's better then blowing it. And yes! I love coleslaw and would love the recipe.

I hope your little one gets to feeling better today. I know she's enjoying being home with her mommie!

Tippy! a perfect EKG! YOU GO GIRL! You should celebrate! It is so good to see you! sorry to hear about your neighbor.

Kemp - I'm sorry you can't work things out to quit work and go to school full time. As hard as it is I know you can do it. I will give some thought to "any suggestions" on how to help have a better attitude. That's a hard one isn't it, bec as we all know "life is 10% circumstances and 90% attitude".

I've got paperwork to do and I need to see about mawmaw at noon. The hardest part of my day today, will be baking her chocolate chip cookies and not eating one. But I'm gonna get them baking and then put them in a container and go put them in the car, so they will be out of sight. I will not have a cookie! I will not have a cookie!

later gaters,
cathy

Tippy YEAH !!! I'm so glad you got a healthy clean bill of health, boy if that ain't worth celebrating (KFC and some cheese cake ) <--- just kidding

Kem, looks like your not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I think once you have that in your focus its gonna make your job alot easier to stand. How soon until your done with school ?

Cathy, Yes its the nutrasweet/aspartame that is a no no. I don't know if its caff free, but I didn't care I drank it anyway, and I think one glass isn't going to hurt. They say jello isn't alowed on induction but I think everyone who's done atkins needed just a little (I buy the pre made ones in those little cups, the portion control is all figured out) I do remember making it and me and hubby eating a ton of jello just b/c we are such sweetacholics and it didn't effect our weight loss one bit.

Coleslaw
I buy the bags already shredded but when your on induction, your not supposed to have carrots and the bags have carrots. So, here's the recipe w/just plain cabbage.

Approx 8 Cups of shredded cabbage (1/2 of a big head should do it)
10 pks splenda
1 teaspoon celery salt
3 Table Spoons Heavy Cream or Light Cream
3 Table Spoons Water
1 Table Spoon of Vinegar (white) if you like more just add it, I'm not a vinegar person.
Mayo (full fat, we use helmans) 1 - 2 cups depending, you'll be able to tell when your mixing it in

Add all ingredience as listed above, for the mayo, just keep adding in until creamy but not thick, if that makes sense.

Refrigerate over night, you really need to do this so all the flavors mix. The next day just mix again, if you need more mayo add, but most likely you will not.

We live on this stuff, I eat about 1/2 cup a day, no more b/c of calories (mayo) I don't know how many calories it has so I just follow what FitDay has for Coleslaw.

Its wonderful when you want something crunchy and sweet at dinner, which I always do. I love apple sauce w/chicken and this coleslaw as a subsitute does the trick.

Hope you like it as much as we do.

I am thinking of making a cheese cake recipe soon, like this weekend. Don't forget Cathy, you can have atkins cheese cake on induction but be aware, calories are high mmmmmmmmm !!!!! lol

I'm starting to drool.... lol

Default Hello Ladies

I woke up early this morning and ate breakfast. While doing so I started bawling.Today is the one year anniversary of my poppop's passing.I am still dealing with the loss alot. But after I ate breakfast I exercised. It made me feel better for the time being but now I am sitting here just thinking about him.I miss him so much.I was the only grandchild he got to see get married.I am the eldest granddaughter and I was very close to him.I know he up there watching over me but there are times I wish he was here to help watch over me.

Last night at our meeting; we got a new leader. She is a spunky 4'11" italian woman named Mona.I really liked her and the meeting this week.I got my first BRAVO star. The last couple of meetings I went to were alittle dull.Mona added some spirit to this one.We actually had a topic we talked about.

Dh told me he is so proud of me today. He said because I am really busting arse.He said even though I am not to motivated sometimes; I push myself to get motivated. He said he can't wait for spring to get here.

Mom told me last night she was proud of me also and the way I am sticking to exercising.

Well I hope yall are doing great.

*hugs*

Default Hi everyone

I always seem to have to wait for everyone to go to bed to get a chance at the computer. Just wanted to say "thank you" for the welcome, Leenie, and sorry about the baby's teeth. When a baby is in pain it's a 24/7 ordeal for the Mom, too.
Tippy - yeah to be off of blood thinner! Are you going to take an 81mg aspirin daily now?
Lynnie - sorry about your grandpa. I lost my Mom last summer and I think about her every day. Sometimes I still reach for the phone to call her. One of the things that helps is that I have two sisters (well, also have two brothers who are dear people but somehow it's not the same) that I can spend time with. Another thing that helps is just talking to her in my head. Who knows, maybe she can hear?

Hi Skjolden,

Sorry about your Mom, I am so blessed to still have mine around and I know this every day, especially now that she is pushing 80, its like a constant reminder in my face when I see her, and I tell her all the time how much I love her because when I lost my dad in 1984, I realized just then never to take anyone for granted. BTW, I do believe your Mom can hear you so keep talking.

Its so nice to see you, and don't worry about being the last poster, I read them all the next day anyway. But with 6 kids, I can understand why you get to post so late lol.

See you tomorrow ? well actually its today LOL...
