Question Checking things out...

to figure out where I belong for sure.

I am doing more of a modified Atkins. Getting ready to read Dana Carpenter's book as I have her cookbooks and like them. I originally joined the Atkins group but I don't follow to the letter so... I would be curious which programs everyone is doing and how they are working for them.

I know that I have to be held accountable for my food choices by weighing in and reporting in to a group who can encourage and yet kick my sorry butt when I get to feeling sorry for myself cuz I can't eat like thin chicks. Who says thin is healthy anyway?

As soon as I get over this stinking flu I will be going back to the gym as I like working out there.

A little about myself: I have two sons married, three granddaughters, one grandson, and new granddaughter due in April. Eight cats, six dogs, one rat, five fish, almost all rescue animals. My husband and I own an Italian restaurant and work a lot when not caring for our four-legged children. I have about 100-110 lbs. to lose and need desperately to get control over my eating habits. I have lost from 264 down to 257 since January 2nd. I have fibromyalgia which is helped by lc eating too.

Hoping to hear from some of you with a little direction as to which group might be the best fit. I will continue to read the threads to see also.

Bunnababy,

Welcome! We follow all sorts of different low carb plans, here. I follow the Whole Food Eating Plan. Others follow Atkins, South Beach, Carb Addicts, or some other plan. It's a wonderful community of women who are here to support each other. Feel free to post anytime. You'll get inspiration and advice, as well as some great new friends.

I'm trying to stick to South Beach, but there are times I slide more into Atkins. This is especially true with the cheeses. I love hot pepper cheese, but I haven't been able to find a low fat version, so I indulge in 1 ounce each day. I also sometimes was a chicken thigh or leg piece which is a no-no on SB (too much fat). I find that I'm losing, happy, and healthy, so I'm ok with doing my own thing.

HI, I am new to the low carb way of life. Been there for 3 days. But I am going to make it this time... I am on the carb addicts program. It is low carb two meals a day with a reward meal that allows for any food in moderation. It is very flexable. Glad to answer any guestions I can.
I am 44 we have 5 kids, 3 grandkids, and 2 more on there way. one flying squirrel.
Welcome..

Hi Bunnababy,

Way to go with the weight you've already lost, that's just fabulous, 7 lbs in 3 weeks! And with the extra challenge of working very close to large amounts of pasta, kill me now, I'm not even good to go into a bakery section at the grocery store, God bless you! As for the forums, floating around till you find somewhere that suits you is a great idea, this forum is quite active as is the atkins one, the 100lb club is too so there's lots to pick from. I'm an atkins groupie (or more like a roadie half the time, it feels like i'm never home) and it has been a complete life saver not just for the weight but for the blood sugar and the chronic fatigue too. Wow that's alot of good stuff, no wonder I love atkins so much.

And 4 dogs holy, I think I hear Ruth around here somewhere....

Hope to see you around posting

Hi, Bunnababy. I see you found your way into this part of The Coop. MamaJ has been on CAD for a while. I'm sure she will pop in with some advice when she gets a chance.
