Default Just Chat - Tuesday, November 11

I'm late starting this today as I got lost out there in Journal World! My BGL was way too low this morning so I'm a bit dazed.

Re recipes: PLEASE post them in the recipe section instead of in the middle of a thread! Then it will go in under your name and you'll get credit (or blame) for it! I'll go and fish the existing ones out and paste them in the recipe forum when I get some time. Thanks to Jennifer, the cauliflower one is already there. Sflake, just send the recipes to me and I can post them. I'll PM my email if you don't have it already.

This morning I'll do some outside work as we are going back to crappy weather for the rest of the week. This afternoon, I'll toddle off to town for a few unexciting items. It sure feels better to know that H. has the Lifeline when I leave him alone although there have been a few false alarms. Yesterday he was napping on the couch and Lucy lay down on his chest and off it went! They are coming to adjust it this afternoon.

Catch everyone later.

Hey, the first one in here should start the Just Chat Thread, eh?

Sounds like you could use a hug, Ruthie.
I'll try to get up before you tomorrow and start the thread.

It's Rememberance Day. I've been awake on and off all night with terrible neck pain (stress?), and I'm hoping we're not going to the Y this morning.

On a good note, my DD got 24.5 out of 25 on her science quiz last week! (a subject she's barely passing at the moment) AND she's decided to have my DH teach her to play drums, and is very excited about it. (I tell ya, it's really something to see my daughter excited about something.)

Have a good day, all...

Ruthie I will send them tonight when I get home from work. For some odd reason some people can open the attachment with no problem while others can't. enjoy your day!

I am a bit sad today as my older cat of 15, Bailey has gone blind. Vet says it's just old age. Actually pets adapt better than people do, but it is still sad to know that the old gal is getting up there and her time my be near.

Happy Veterans, Remembrance Day everyone!!!

Morning,

Today is a good day to remember.

Remember loved ones here and departed.
Remember why you decided to take on this journey.

Remember to take time for yourself.
Remember to slow down and breathe.

Remember that this too will pass.
Remember to forgive yourself.

Remember to smile and be happy.
Remember that I care.

Off to take a much needed bath, wash my hair, eat, go to mom's, cook, read and then go to play cards and eat out.

Have NO idea what is on the menu, BUT it will be OP for me.

I made a pork soup in the crockpot yesterday. Mom LOVED it.

Yep you are right, I have lost some weight. Started this program at 168.5 and am now 147.5. My highest weight was 190!!

Remember that today is a NEW day.

Hugs, Marcie

Bailey,

Your mom loves you. She will not abandon you.
She will continue to care for you, feed you and teach you how to "see" in your new world.

Bailey, you are blessed. You have love in your life and a home that is warm and full of caring people.

This will be hard for you and your mom, but together you will learn to adapt.

She really loves you, Bailey.

I know,
Marcie

Yup, I sure need a hug this morning. My post was sort of testy. Sorry!

Sflake, your cat will adapt quickly. I had Libby The Poor Blind Dog for two more years after she lost her sight. She was just amazing. Getting another dog, Hershey, really helped her and she had a good life right to the end. Lovely post, Marcie.

Yay to Miss M, Ellis. Stay home today and skip the Y. (Frannie is away another few days and Sil is not as tough as she is!)

I still am not off my butt! Get going, Ruthie!

No need to apologize, Ruth. You are ALWAYS up, even when you're down. You're entitled to show some emotion. Once in a while.

Show some emotion? OK. Here goes!
DARN IT ALL ANYHOW!
It's raining and I'm stuck indoors.
How was that?
I feel better now.

Good Morning.....
sflake, sorry about bailey, my friend kid me they say that if I cut off hand, they would call me, but if the animals get sick, don't have me around! So I understand. Ruth and Marcie are right, just love her, help her and she will adapt....she is getting up there, but you still may could get another 3-5 years from her...blindness is not terminal (but I know what you mean).

For the first time last week I went seriously Off Plan and I am still feeling the consequences. I had pizza and some a few pieces of candy and I am can't shake the bloat monster, and this time I can say that the momentary gratification wasn't great, it didn't do it for me, and it is not worth this physical debt.

My new business is bringing so much opportunity and challenges, and I am very sad that my guy is not doing this with me, it was something we were doing together and now each day I take steps forward, it just reminds me that he is not here...but it is still great and as soon as the website is done (I hate the first incarnation but now I know more of what I want) I will share it with you all.

This month is my birthday, and I am turning 41, and it is harder than 40, it is my first holiday without my dad, and my friends grandmother who just passed two weeks after my dad...I met her 5 days after my grandmother passsed, which is Decmeber 12th, (it will be 5 years next month and I still miss her terribly) she raised me. This is not the most joyous holiday season for me, but I am determined to do my best to celebrate them and remind myself and the sad feelings are good, it keeps them close to me.

OK, I am done....thanks for the ear......you are all in my thoughts and boy Ruth, if I lived closer to you, I would be there in a snap to help out....I think that I just may go over to the beach site and look at the pictures of your house, it calms me! speaking of that...

ellis...what happened to your pics there? I loved your pics too!!!

Dear friends.....It sounds like so many of us need hugs today,

so here goes and more to

you all.

Ruth, I'm so sorry you don't feel up to par. I know the crappy
weather doesn't help either! You are a wonderful strong woman.

Ellis, hope your neck feels better soon, hon! Do you really think it's stress related? Just take it easy today, and apply the heat pad .

Sflake, my heart goes out to you with your little kitty. I know you will care for her, and give her lots of love. I remember when my old dog got ill. I would hold him and rock him every day when I got home from work.

Rowan, I know how you feel about missing loved ones at this time of year. Six years ago this month I lost both of my parents. My dad went first, on Nov. 1 and my mom passed exactly 3 weeks to the day that he did, on Nov. 22. I was devasted, and still miss them every single day. November is a sad month for me, also. I am sending you special warm today.

Marcie, I am so proud of you on your weight loss. You are doing a great job!

Have a good day, everyone,
~Sharon

P.S. I forgot to tell everyone. I worked outside yesterday cleaning up my yard for Winter, and woke up so sore I can't hardly walk!!!! I'm going to lunch with a group of women from the church. Don't know what will be offered, but I will stay OP.

A busy bunch this a.m. And can you believe it, I'm actually here berfore nightfall. Things are calming down a bit.

Ellis: You need a wonderful massage to fix up your neck. Works wonders. Yes- what happened to your pictures. I never did get to see them, as I just joined the bingo beauties recently.

Sflake: Sorry about your kitty, but I agree with the others, she'll adapt, and I imagine that she will stay close to you for a while.

Ruth: Hope your day improves as it goes along. Rainy day blues are no fun.

Rowan: As much as your miss your family who have gone on to a better place, I'm reasonably certain that they would not want you to mourn too long. As you say, you have your pleasant memories to keep them close to you always.

Marcie: Lovely words for us today.

It is hard to address everyone, but love to read all the posts.

Have a great rest of the day. Lizzie

For all of us in honor of Veterans Day and Remembrance Day. This was sent to me and I thought it worth sharing. Lizzie

(Attributed to a Marine Corps chaplain, Father Denis
Edward O'Brian)

Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a
missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye.
Others may carry the evidence inside them, a pin holding a
bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg - or perhaps
another sort of inner steel: the soul's alloy forged in the
refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have
kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell
a vet just by looking. What is a vet?

A vet is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi
Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored
personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel.

A vet is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden
planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a
hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of
exquisite bravery near the 38th Parallel.

A vet is the nurse who fought against futility and went to
sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.

A vet is the POW who went away one person and came back
another - or didn't come back at all.

A vet is the drill instructor who has never seen combat -
but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy,
no-account punks and gang members into marines, airmen,
sailors, soldiers and coast guardsmen, and teaching them
to watch each other's backs.

A vet is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins on his
ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.

A vet is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons
and medals pass him by.

A vet is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The
Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National
Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the
anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them
on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep.

A vet is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket
- palsied now and aggravatingly slow - who helped liberate
a **** death camp and who wishes all day long that his
wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares
come.

A vet is an ordinary and yet extraordinary human being, a
person who offered some of his life's most vital years in
the service of his country, and who sacrificed his
ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

A vet is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the
darkness, and he is nothing more that the finest, greatest
testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever
known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our
country, just lean over and say, "Thank You." That's all
most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than
any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words that mean a lot, "THANK YOU."
