Cool I'm back!!!.. I think!..

Howdy from Texas to all my old & new friends here!.. I first started here way back in March 2009 & have visited off & on several times over the years... I love it here, such nice people, but life keeps getting in the way & I lose track of this forum... I hope to make it a long, long visit this time...

Just thinking, the only Way of Eating (WOE) that has ever really worked for me was IP, my version with protein shakes instead of actual IP products… first time I did it in 2010, I followed all the rules & ate plenty of veggies… plus, I exercised like crazy… any time I did it after that, I cheated too much, didn’t eat enough veggies, & didn’t exercise… the first time was the only time it worked, I lost over 70 lbs in about 6 months... it was also the only time I didn’t get constipated… all the other tries I quit because I was so plugged up… I know, TMI!..

Anyway, I think I’ll try it again & this time I’ll try like crazy to do it right…

Hugs...

Welcome back, Aunt Sheshie, You're always welcome back on 3FC.

You've been part of the 3FC IP tradition for years. Hope you find the support you need now.

Does anybody know why avocados are on the no-no list for Phase 1?.. maybe it's the fat content?.. 1/2 avocado has 14.7 g. fat, but 13.4 g. of that is monounsaturated fat, the good kind... or maybe it's the carbs?.. 8.5 g. carbs, but 6.7 g. of that is fiber, leaving 1.8 g. net carbs... so, yeah, all that, plus 2 g. protein & a whole slew of vitamins & minerals, adds up to 160 calories... I thought we weren't supposed to be counting calories on this WOE...

So, since I can't conclude from the above info that half of an avocado would throw me out of ketosis or otherwise sabotage this WOE, I'm gonna keep them in my diet... good thing too, I do love me some guacamole...

Tomorrow I'm having lunch with some old friends at a restaurant I know nothing about... we've had these plans for a month or more, well before I decided to go back to IP... I've looked at the menu online & I'm not convinced I can stick to IP protocol 100%... so, I'll just do the best I can... I know I could just order a salad, but phooey on that!.. this is a special occasion, not gonna try to act "holier than thou" while my friends are ordering all sorts of yummy stuff!.. I'm not in ketosis yet, anyway, so I'll just expect it to take a few days longer than I had hoped...

Hugs...

Yikes!!!.. most of the year has come & gone since I last showed my face around here... I apologize, to y'all & to myself... it was a busy summer, spent a lot of it taking my 97 year old mom all over the place... in May we went to South Dakota, a two-day drive from Texas, to see Mount Rushmore & some of the other sights & fun places around there... thoroughly loved it!!!.. then, two trips to Colorado... so, it's taken me a while to recover & get my mind back on track... but now with the holidays looming, I think I'll just try to do the best I can with a semi-IP plan, & then dive back in headfirst after the first of the year...

Novak!!!.. great to see you!.. folks, Novak is a great source of info & advice... pay attention to her!..

Sometimes it takes a little motivation to stick with a diet, & I have that need big time... my goal for 2026 is to lose at least 40 lbs by November... planning to go on a Caribbean cruise with some friends I haven't seen in a few years... I want to shock & surprise them with my new self...

Part of my weight loss routine involves ramping up on exercise... I just recently got a walking pad (a small version of a treadmill), an early Christmas present to myself... I'm also doing some light weightlifting & am about to start kettlebell swings... at 76 years old, I'm not as strong & peppy as I was when I did IP 15 years ago, but I'm giving it a good try... I'd also like to do yoga again, so maybe I'll take that up after New Year's...

I hope everybody is staying warm & safe, now that winter is close upon us...

Hugs...

My recent bloodwork shows that my A1c is a little high, so I'm gonna switch over to an anti-inflammatory diet, namely the Mediterranean diet... lots of fruits & veggies, legumes, whole grains, fish & seafood, & very little red meat... doesn't sound very much like Ideal Protein, does it?.. it has to be done... I've become much more concerned with my health than my appearance... of course, I'll still be trying to lose weight, that's part of the remedy for prediabetes, but mostly I'm gonna concentrate more on getting the systemic inflammation under control, if not eliminated completely... so, so long to the IP forum for now... y'all take care...
