Default Combining Weight Loss with Resistance Training: What’s Your Approach?

Hi everyone,

I am curious to hear how others here have successfully combined resistance training with their weight loss efforts. While cardio workouts are often the go-to for burning fat, I’ve found that incorporating weight and resistance training into my routine has made a significant difference in boosting my metabolism and enhancing fat loss. Over the past few months, I’ve been focusing on full-body strength training, including exercises like squats, deadlifts, and overhead presses. These have not only helped me build muscle but also kept my body burning calories long after the workout ends.

My goal has been to lose weight while preserving muscle mass, and resistance training has definitely played a major role in achieving this balance. I’ve noticed that my body composition has shifted, even though the scale hasn’t dropped dramatically. The muscle gain seems to help with overall fat loss, and my body feels tighter and more toned.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tried a similar approach. What exercises have you found most effective for combining weight loss with muscle growth? Do you follow a specific diet to support this? Any tips on keeping resistance training varied and motivating while still aiming for weight loss? Let’s share https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/wei...e-training-80/Java our experiences and advice!

Thank you !

Same approach works great, compound lifts, progressive overload, and moderate calorie deficit. Prioritize protein, keep steps/cardio moderate, and rotate exercises or rep ranges to stay motivated while preserving muscle during fat loss.

Muscle definitely gives you that toned look. To keep things fresh, I try to switch up my accessory exercises every month while keeping the main lifts (squats, deadlifts) the same. I bought a bunch of cute new workout clothes online to motivate myself to go to the gym, but they arrived in the wrong sizes! I was so frustrated trying to find a light in the box customer service phone number to get an exchange. Anyway, I highly recommend prioritizing protein in your diet, it really helps with muscle recovery.
