Default The Weekend - November 12th and 13th

Good morning, Beachers. Coffee tastes good on this beautiful fall morning even if the temperature is 19ēC! Another beautiful sunrise. I guess this means I can stop trying to bring in the rest of my plants since Jack Frost probably succeeded in knocking them off last night! It seems I just can't let summer go.

Spent most of yesterday thinking of Remembrance/Veterans Day - the ceremony at out Ottawa War Memorial moves me to tears. And then I learned of Leonard Cohen's death so it was a very, very sad day around here. I gave myself a boot in the butt late afternoon and did get a bunch of sheets and blankets to take to the thrift store. Today I will do the same with warm winter clothes since it's going to be very cold soon and the street folks are needy.

Time for another coffee and then I'll decide what to do today. I feel the need to make a hearty soup of some kind, maybe pea or bean if I can find my concentrated stock in the freezer. Jennifer, I do have Karen who likes to cook and we should work out a plan for meals - maybe once a week and alternate the weeks.

Enjoy the start to the weekend and stay save if you are near any of the chaos. Chill out, America!

Good morning,

It is chilly this morning, glad I don't need to go anywhere first thing in the morning or I would be scraping the car. We are only getting up to 50 today so the cold is definitely coming. Today I need to go return a pair of winter boots I ordered (too loose in the ankles, I need support) and DD2 wants to do a bit of shopping. DH wants to put up Christmas lights, not sure I am in the mood. Last night eating was not good, had pizza and some cookies that were in the house, scale is up today so that is my motivation for getting back to eating correctly.

Ruth sorry to hear about your Granddaughter's boyfriend, so sad to hear. Soup sounds wonderful today.

Jekel sounds like they are going to keep you busy with work.

Bea great to hear from you and glad you are staying op

Debbie to have to work this weekend?

Beth is the house you are prepping to sale your childhood house, that would be difficult.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning!

Another busy day here. I had walked down the block to scope out the construction so I could take my mom down to breakfast with her friends. And the crews all started showing up. They are working today. The weather is so nice. They all congregated in front of my moms they are putting in the waterline today. So I had to tell her it was not a good day to get out. Kirk and I are going to a friends birthday party today and need to leave in the next hour. Stop at the post office on the way to mail a set of cutting boards to Great Britain. It's always something. I guess the dogs should go to daycare so I don't have to worry about them.

Ruth, so sorry to hear about your granddaughters boyfriend. Take care today.

Rose, I wouldn't feel like putting Christmas lights up now, either. Usually it's cold and snowy when we do that. LOL good thing to get your boots exchanged before they don't have this right size anymore.

everyone else! I'd better get a smoothie made. I don't think I have to work tomorrow but it's always subject to change.

Good morning everyone.

Pearlrose my scale is up too and its all my own doing. I saw a picture of my friend Pamela from the Polar Plunge yesterday and will admit got a little jealous. She looks incredible!!! Time for me to get into gear and lave the excuses behind. May willl be here soon enough. My mom hangs her Christmas lights early too so they don't get stuck doing it on a cold day. I did see a house with their tree lit already (way too early IMHO)

DEbbie how is your mom feeling? Has she healed from her fall? Maybe its best she stayed put yesterday. Hope you and Kirk had fun at the party.

Beth I remember getting my childhood home ready for sale. It was tough going through decades of memories and stuff!!!! My mom and I worked out butts off getting it ready. The home was bought when my mom was 9 in 1953. Roughly 50 years of memories in one tiny house. I was very sad to see it go and its hard for me to drive by it. It doesn't look loved anymore.

Ruth I hope the temps warm up by you. I finally pulled my zinnias last week and need to cut back my Montauk daisies as they are looking pretty glum. I hope your grand daughter will be OK it is so hard losing someone you love at any age.

Well in just a few minutes I need to get motivated. Today's the big wind chime sale lol. I actually skipped my smoothie for eggs and turkey baco with a half of a spelt English muffin. So yummy and a great way to warm up on a brisk morning.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Good morning!

Jennifer, I wish I could join you at the Winchime sale! It would be right down my alley. My mom is doing much better. This continual construction thing just has her really sad. We were going to take her to breakfast yesterday then the equipment moved in right in front of her house. The good news is they are moving along quite rapidly with this nice weather. Our new sewer lines are in and water lines should come next week. And I think they will clean up our side of the street and we might be able to park in front of the house. That might be wishful thinking. LOL

The party was great yesterday but it was a go. There were stairs everywhere, lots of people and it was quite nippy. Today we are back to digging out the flowerbeds. It's already 43° so perfect weather. I have a big pot of ox tail and barley soup on the stove. I seem to be motivated to get some meals in the freezer right now. I'm not sure why. LOL

Have a great day everyone! I will enjoy my Sunday at the restaurant. I know this too shall pass.

Good morning, Beachers. Another bright day is unfolding. One advantage to winter is that I can see the sunrise from my SE kitchen windows as it wanders south. A lovely clear but coldish morning but it's supposed to warm up a bit later.

Debbie, you must be sooo fed up with the roadwork. However, it sounds like you are in the homestretch. I'd love to be digging flowerbeds today but our earth is frozen.

Beth, it's hard to get rid of physical memories. I still have the wee chest my Dad made for me for dolls'clothes and am trying to figure out how to "re-purpose" it.

Rose, reading back I realize your DD missed the exam this time. When can she take it again? She must be really discouraged.

Jennifer, I love windchimes and have some on my front porch. Millie, who has aspirations of being a cat, leaps up at them from the porch rail. She likes to live dangerously. Your breakfast sounds good. Somehow I've just never got enthused about smoothies.

A busy week ahead with with an event every day for a week. I'll spare you the details.

Hope your Sunday is sunny in all ways.

Good morning,

It is a chilly morning but we should get up to 50 today so I will take it. Yesterday was busy running around, got some great deals for DD2 and we went and got her measured for a bar she wanted something more than a sports bar we have been buying. Got the cutest little Christmas dress for my great niece who we will be seeing for Thanksgiving in Atlanta. Did manage to do a grocery run and get the house cleaned as well, did not put up the lights. DH and I went out and watched that new movie "Arrived" it was really good. The scale is starting to come down since I got 1 day of back on wagon, always takes me a few days of eating clean to get the scale back down for 1 day of back sliding, I should remember that.

Ruth you have anything on the agenda today? DD1 can retake sometime in December, I am having her make an appt with her doctor so he can give her something for her stress test taking, normally not an advocate but if he could give her 2 pills one to test to make sure it doesn't make her too sleepy and one for day of the test.

Beth I have moved so many times in my lifetime due to the military that never really put in roots into a house but when I visit Florida I still go by our old house when I make it to my old town. I still have a few things from my childhood that I have brought with me wherever I have gone.

Jekel I think I would like the windchime sale as well, love to hear them. I agree with you now is the time to get ready for May, I am actually trying to get ready for December since we are going skiing again and I want to be able to ski this year.

Debbie glad to hear that your mom is getting better, hopefully you will be able to take her out soon. Sounds like the birthday party was busy.

We have an issue at work so might need to go in waiting to see. Have a great day everyone

Hey chicks. I'm back home and trying to conquer the weekend niggles. I've been to the grocery store and made some muffins but need to do some laundry. I also want to do a few outside things like store the bird bath and the wind chimes. We have sun and warmish today but the weather can turn any time now.

To those who asked, yes, it is my childhood home being emptied and sold. Mom and Dad are in an assisted living retirement place. We are making good progress finding places to donate and clearing out trash and recyclables. The house will probably not be sold until spring.

Pearlrose, hope you don't have to go to work today!

Debbie, I'm making beef stew this afternoon. Yum!

Jennifer, have fun at the sale.

Ruth, the daytime highs look good this week but there will be scraping on a few mornings.

Have a good day, chicks.
