Smile New to SBD

Hello everyone,
I am just starting the SBD today and i am looking for any helpful suggestions on starting it. I am severly overweight and my dr suggested this because i refuse to have any weight loss surgery, i feel if i can put this weight on i can definitely be responsible for taking it off.

Good afternoon meemee, and welcome to the beach!

Have you read the book yet? That's one of the most important steps. The other is to make sure you check in here daily, and read a bunch of the new and old threads to help you out. South beach diet really can work, but it does help a LOT to have support and advice, and the chicks here are great at it.

Stop by daily on the menu thread as well, and we'll help you evaluate it, especially if you're having trouble. The key is to plan, plan, plan...to help you stay on plan!

Welcome!

Always have your book handy for reference until you get the hang of it, plan ahead and come here. I find the daily check in super helpful for keeping me on track over the long haul. I never used the menu plans but rather structured meals around foods that I enjoyed and fit into my daily routine. During P1 I was often hungry and I gave myself permission to have an extra snack when that happened, usually diced chicken. Beans and dairy help with constipation/headache issues during P1, too. A totally clean P1 rid me of all my sugar cravings and then it was up to me to keep that processed sugar out of my diet which has made losing weight so much easier. I had a lot to lose and set my 1st goal as the number which crossed me over from obese to overweight. It's been a great 1st achievement.

I have to lose 35 lbs. My cousin came in to visit last week and looked great, she told me she did South Beach...so here I am. Im gonna try it!
