Default Some really interesting weight loss research videos

So I have lost 85 pounds since July 1st (and 76 pounds on the IP Diet since July 30th) -- so I am one of the success stories! Yay for me. That being said, I have seen a few videos in the past 6 months that I found really interesting. Just thought I would share. This first video was the one that "reached me" for some reason back at the end of June 2013, and motivated me to start dieting (again) -- at that point I weighed 335 pounds. This first video also plays right into the "wheelhouse" of the IP diet ... glucose and insulin resistance. The second video, I just watched today, and I found interesting for an "alternative" point of view and how "health" is not always about your weight, but more about adopting 4 key "healthy" habits. Some good info to keep in mind as some start maintenance phases and lifelong lifestyle changes.

Video #1 Is the obesity crisis hiding a bigger problem?

As a young surgeon, Peter Attia felt contempt for a patient with diabetes. She was overweight, he thought, and thus responsible for the fact that she needed a foot amputation. But years later, Attia received an unpleasant medical surprise that led him to wonder: is our understanding of diabetes right? Could the precursors to diabetes cause obesity, and not the other way around? A look at how assumptions may be leading us to wage the wrong medical war. Both a surgeon and a self-experimenter, Peter Attia hopes to ease the diabetes epidemic by challenging what we think we know and improving the scientific rigor in nutrition and obesity research.

Video #2 Why Dieting Doesn't Usually Work

In the US, 80% of girls have been on a diet by the time they're 10 years old. In this honest, raw talk, neuroscientist Sandra Aamodt uses her personal story to frame an important lesson about how our brains manage our bodies, as she explores the science behind why dieting not only doesn't work, but is likely to do more harm than good. She suggests ideas for how to live a less diet-obsessed life, intuitively. Sandra Aamodt explores the neuroscience of everyday life, examining new research and its impact on our understanding of ourselves

Happy dieting out there and may you all find peace and happiness in your lives and with your bodies!
