Good morning

With the recent advent of other "chatty" threads (rather than single-topic focused) such as monthly beginner threads, the daily chat has shrunk

I took the date off of it for now.

I'd also like to let folks know that the best way to truly join a COMMUNITY and to get all the assistance from the people who have done the diet longer, it might be best to not have newcomers band together in a thread, but to jump on and get support in the bigger community.

Numerous long-time dieters have expressed their concern about this growing trend. We first saw it show up in August. When newcomers band together it can kind of be like the blind leading the blind, especially for the ones who only go to that one thread. Please consider consolidating with the entire community and getting support from/giving support to EVERYONE through ONE spot for daily chats. There IS strength in numbers.

When I came to 3fc-IP it was a strong and supportive place where the people who had been around we're easily able to help the newcomers. Lots of people have told me there are just too many threads for that now. What you are missing when you start a monthly "starters" thread is support from long-timers. A few might hop in but you miss out on support from many more.

I agree...the number of new threads is little overwhelming. Unfortunately this suggestion will probably not be read by some who are starting new threads because they don't read the daily chat

Here's hoping everyone finds the support/info they need!

For newcomers: in the stickies, it says to do a search and determine if the topic already exists before starting a thread. If you ask in the daily chat, someone who has been here a while will also know. I've found MANY existing threads others were unable to locate.

There is SO MUCH info available if we take a moment to look for it.

Duplicate threads cause confusion and single threads create community. In January, I hope we can consolidate to ONE challenge thread.

Hi Lisa and Suzie! I am here to chat on the daily thread! So I finally had a meltdown last night...a sobbing I don't want to be on this diet anymore meltdown. I started originally in August, then had emergency surgery Sept. 20th, and was off plan, then Oct. 5th I restarted phase 1. I have lost over 30lbs since I started, but I think just with the holidays (and some holiday stall even thought I tried so hard to stay OP for the thanksgiving week) I think I was just having dieters fatigue. I woke up today feeling better, but sometimes the length of time of how restrictive this diet it, is hard for me to comprehend. How have others dealt with it? I think it doesn't help that I also just started a new BC and I am dealing with some thyroid issues (which my doctor doesn't want to medicate me for, just wants me to take supplements). I also am struggling with body image issues. I obviously know I am smaller (my clothes are huge) and I was feeling great for a while, but now I am back to feeling fat. Has this sudden feeling of frustration happened to anyone else? Until now I was so positive, when I was sick I couldn't wait to get back OP and feeling good.

Good morning!

Lisa: I agree on the numerous chat threads broken down by start date. When I first started IP I was given so much information and support by people who had been OP for longer - I have no idea how I would have done this without all that support and answers for even my stupidest questions. I'd hate for anyone to miss out on being able to draw on the wealth of knowledge and experience that is available on here.

I just want to hug you! I was feeling a lot the same yesterday - just tired and grumpy and sick of everything - I just wanted to cry.

You have a lot going on - recovering from surgery, new BC, thyroid issues, that's enough to overwhelm anyone! Good for you for continuing IP when a lot of others would have given up!

I don't know the exact science and I'm sure someone will explain better than I can - but women store hormones in their fat and as you lose fat the hormones get released and it can really whack you out for awhile. Combine that with a new BC and it sounds like you may have the mother of all PMS!

So... be nice to yourself. Take a nice hot bath with bubbles; take a long walk; do something you love; put on some really nice smelling lotion - just generally treat yourself with kindness, things will improve.

Remember why you're on this journey - the results are so worth it and you will do great!

This week when I weigh in I hope to pass my half way mark. I know this downside of the mountain will take longer than the first half but I also know that once I get to my goal, I will be moving into different phases. Whenever I get down about the restrictions, I remind myself that I put myself here by the way I ate. I also remind myself that P1 is actually a pretty short time period compared to my entire life. So instead of looking at the glass half empty and saying 'I'll be so restricted for SO LONG' look at it and say, 'If I get it right now, I'll be done more quickly and on with the rest of my LIFE'. That's right. Phase 1 will not last forever. P4 will allow you the flexibility you crave, but you just have to make sacrifices to get there! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I can't believe how "dead" the forums seem to be lately! I used to have to check back several times a day to keep up with everything, and now I feel as though if I left for a week I wouldn't miss many posts. Maybe everyone has the winter blues and is spending extra time in bed in the am instead of hopping onto the forum for a quick hello.

Well unofficialy I'm down 45lbs but I won't change my ticker until my weigh in day. I couldn't help getting on the scale this am. I've felt so bloated and full of gas lately, last night I took a gas-x for some relief. My poor sweetie I know I had trumpet butt all night (lol I know TMI) I feel so much better this morning.

I agree with the numerous threads it seems like every time someone has a question they start a new thread. I disagree with the idea that the "start date" thread are creating a community on their own. For me it was a place to talk with folks in a similar place in the diet. Our "Augusters" thread seems to have died down quite a bit. Anyway just my opinion.

I don't think I'm going to hit the 60lb lost mark by the end of the month. Maybe 50. But I release that I made that 60lb goal with my coach and realize now that may have been a bit ambitious. I'm okay with that. I will meet my goal.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I've been having a melt down too. I'm tired of the veggies I eat and the soups are making me want to vomit. I have forced myself the past few days to eat the IP packet for lunch. I feel like giving up but my husband is encouraging me to stay OP and my sister is too. I have thyroid issues too and a high level of insulin resistance in my body so I'm not losing as fast as I would like. My doctor is even more strict then what the plan calls for and say to not have shrimp or other seafood, no garlic or onions and to keep my meals as bland as possible. That's not working for me. I have always had spice and flavor in my food andhaving the same thing for a week straight is getting boring for me. I will be talking with my doctor to lay me have a variety of foods for the week. I need to find something that works for me.

These coaches are driving me nuts! Shrimp is clearly listed on the P1 sheet for approved dinner proteins. Garlic (as a seasoning) and onions (raw) are also allowed. Spice up your food however you want so you can get back into the groove!

Hi all, a newbie here. I am on my third day. Woke with a headache. Wanted to save my restricted for tonight but I just ate it. I got TOM today and I really have food cravings.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself today, too. I love cooking, love holiday cooking in particular. I always make trays of cookies and other goodies. Trying to stay positive though and I keep telling myself its not about the food this year.

Is there a phase 1 recipe book to buy anywhere? Maybe if I had something like that it would be easier.

We are getting snow dumped on us here in Minnesota today. Time to get the skis and snow shoes out
