Default No need to borrow trouble...

For I have plenty of my own.

This year has been so hard. It's been one mess after another it seems. Some of you may have read my thread about losing my dog, who was 9, of cancer. He was my best friend, and all I had through my husband's many deployments. Now just days ago I lost my Gram. Back in June it was my FIL. In addition to those losses, I had a car accident and some new health issues this year.

I am up to my eyeballs and really just need some good stuff to happen.

As far as weight loss goes, for months my theme song would have been something like "eye of the tiger" as I had kept it all together and was doing well. Right now, it's probably something more like Ozzy's "Crazy train." (I definitely feel like I've "gone off the rails" in my diet.)

The good news is that I finally got home from my Gram's funeral and despite my horrible diet of late, I am only up 4lbs. Could be WAY worse. Frankly I was shocked as I expected to be in the 170s again after all the junk I've eaten. The bad news is that I'm not entirely sure I've got "the eye of the tiger" back either, so to speak. I was so excited to hit 159.9, and now I'm back to 164.

I'm incredibly exhausted, overwhelmed and in desperate need of GOOD things to happen in my life, and no more BAD things.

Oh Maui, that has got to be soooo tough. I'm so sorry for your losses and hope you can just take one day at a time to re-focus back on your health and getting back to that "eye of the tiger" mentality. You can do it! *hugs*

The flip side of loss and hard times is it helps us appreciate who we do have and the good times so much more.

I know this shouldn't have to happen to remind me what I am grateful for, but every time I see a blind individual even if I think I am having a bad day, it puts things in perspective. Treasure the memories and honor them by living well and happy.

I am so sorry for your losses this year. I know it's hard to lose so much in so short a time. My husband lost both his parents in a three month span recently and it was devastating.

Good things will come back around. Just focus on your mental well being and I bet you'll get that tiger mentality back!

Thanks all. I'm trying, one foot in front of the other. Its hard though, so hard some days. I don't mean this to sound horrible, having lost two human family members...but I struggle with the loss of my dog the most. He was my day in day out best friend. The house is empty without him.

MauiKai,

I am so sorry to hear about all of your losses. Please, continue to take care of yourself, and not just in weight loss.

It doesn't sound horrible at all. If there's one thing I've learned it's that grief doesn't follow "logical" patterns.

I know what you mean about losing your dog. One of my dogs is my heart and soul. But of course it's all painful stuff. Good for you for not gaining more! There is so much we can't control. For many of us, our weight is not one of those things.

I'm so sorry for your losses, and I totally understand your grief over your dog. Try not to be so hard on yourself over the diet. It's okay if you don't have the "eye of the tiger" right now. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, and the added pressure from a diet might be too much.
