Default Bacon

It's been 15 days that I've been doing weight watchers, and I'm finding that things I thought I wouldn't be able to eat are somewhat okay =)

I truly love bacon...it's the fairy dust of the food world lol! I thought I wouldn't be able to eat it hardly at all, because hey, all that fat, all that grease, can't be good for you. I was happily surprised, however, that WalMart sells their pre-cooked Great Valu brand bacon, and 3 strips are only 2 points! Granted, it's not the thick cut, center section of bacon I really enjoy, but it satisfied my bacon craving without destroying my points for the day (cooked it with two eggs and a pinch of shredded cheddar for a delicious 7pt breakfast)

What other foods suprise you in their point value?

I think I've been more surprised that I can eat pretty much any where and anything as long as I stay within my points. That has been awesome. I'm usually pretty busy - I work full time, long hours, and go to school full time - so I eat on the go a lot. I can swing by Taco Bell etc and I know what are smarter choices and what aren't. That's pretty awesome and it's worked well for me so far.

Mm, bacon. Every Sunday, we have a big breakfast at our house. No matter what else we make, I always have bacon. And I eat as much as I want, using my weekly points if need be, because that's the great thing about this plan, you can eat anything. (I think I had 8 pieces last weekend, yikes!).

I don't have bacon every day, but I look forward to it every week and that helps keep me on plan.

I do find myself looking online at the nutrition facts for a lot of fast food places, just so I can make good choices if I do need to eat on the go =) Same for if we have dinner plans at a restaurant, I try and look at the menu ahead of time so I know what to expect and can make a healthier choice when I get there.

This "diet" is so much more flexible than I originally thought...I actually don't consider a diet as much as I consider it a lifestyle change. Yea tracking points can be annoying sometimes, and I'm still trying to find an easier way to calculate the points for recipes (right now I go through the nutrition labels on everything, get the points for all the servings, and add them up, then divide that by the number of servings for the whole dish...I keep a notepad on my kitchen table so I can keep track of all the notes lol!), but overall I am super happy that I am not cutting out as much as what I thought I would have to, and I'm still losing a respectable amount of weight ^_^

My breakfast right now is kinda slim....usually a banana and yogurt (2pts), or sometimes just the banana by itself. I'd like to eat a few more calories for that first meal, and thought about adjusting it to make 2 scrambled eggs with a pinch of cheese and 3 strips of bacon. When I added it together, it came to about 7 pts for breakfast, which is still small enough that I don't feel like I'm spending all my points early in the day, but gives me more sustenance so that I'm not quite so hungry so soon after eating.

Buffinlovin have you tried Greek yogurt? The nonfat ones come out to be either 3 or 4 points (depending on the brand - I think all Chobani's are 4) and they are much more filling than a regular yogurt.

I actually haven't been eating breakfast the past few days (I know, bad). But I find I am more able to control my eating habits in the morning than at night, so I like to leave a little wiggle room for those late night splurges.

Speaking of which, last night I had some ice cream, which was only 3 points a serving! That surprised me a lot.

I actually do eat the Dannon Light n Fit Greek yogurt, and I was surprised when it was only 2 pts! They are filling, but I still find myself craving something *more* soon after. The Banana helps, but I think I'm craving something salty after the sweet banana and tangy yogurt, and I'm trying to think of a few breakfast ideas that I can interchange without using too many points so early on.

I always keep the Weight Watchers ice cream sticks in my freezer! I love the Dulce de Leche and the tripe chocolate versions! OMG yummmm!! They are only 3 pts, also, and especially now that it's summer, it's nice to have a sweet cold treat at the end of the day. I'm also contemplating freezing melon, and letting that thaw a little during the day...I love melon thats really really cold, and I imagine that would also make a nice sweet treat, too!!
