Default Help!! Last minute Christmas gift on a budget!!

Hi everyone. Last night I was so excited because I had all of my Christmas gifts bought. This morning, I spoke to my out of town best friend and realized that I completely forgot to finish her gift up.

She's a make up junkie and urbandecay had a crazy sale on half naked men lipglosses. But that was only $3. So I feel like that isn't enough. She asked me if I liked something, but we never set a price.

I am on the last of the money from fall student loans so I am kinda feeling streched. For most I am baking little goodies, but that's like my boyfriends family or my stepmom's family. I don't want to do that to her. Besides she's dieting and I don't want to tempt her in anyway. I know I'd be pissed if she gave me a box of cookies, she knows they are my weakness.... ugh. Sweets are my downfall.

Her home has a traditional "countryish" feel(as in not contemporary/modern). She loves watermelon. And it needs to be easily transportable, because she lives 6 hours away. It could be crafty or take time, because I have the next 3 weeks off and we aren't exchanging for Christmas until the 27th or probably New Years.

Any ideas are welcome. I want to start obsessing through Pintrest but I have to do last minute shopping for my mom too. UGH!! She didn't tell me what she wanted until last night. and going to get my free Brow shaping at the Benefit Bar with my birthday buddy! Cause it's my birthday tomorrow!!!

People who are looking to having children, I highly recommend not having them in the week before/after Christmas. And don't get married in the week before/after Christmas. It makes for one stressed person!

Some watermelon flavoured body spray? Or some kind of box or bag in a watermelon shape? A grow your own watermelon kit? And buy it online and get it sent straight to her house. I did that and it was so quick and stress free! Good luck!

The watermelon kit would be really fun, can it grow in a pot? They live in an apartment without green space, also it's in Illinois so it's kinda cold.

I don't know about the pot, I didn't know they didn't have green space! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unwins-Gro-S...1&sr=8-3-fkmr1

The above link is a watermelon that can grow in cool climates but I would think they needed a patch of soil to grow it. Hmm well maybe another plant would be nice. A stone plant (a cactus that looks like a stone) is nice. There are definitely chillis, trees and flowers you can grow indoors.

If you type in watermelon on amazon there are results like coin purses and usb drives that are watermelon shaped. I tend to get funny books, scent, dvds and stuff for christmas for people. Or maybe you could take her for a meal or to do something inexpensive but fun and it would be like you were giving her memories as a present.

Lol. I love the idea of taking her or a meal, but we are doing a meal when we have my birthday outing and too many meals can be as bad as a cookie plate! I will definitely do what you suggested on Amazon. I didn't even think about it. Ah!
Thanks : )

Are you crafty? How about a memory book with some of the highlights of your friendship?

I try to be crafty.. I think the memory book would be great. She's always saying how much she misses being home with all of her friends and family.

If you have time - shutterfly and snapfish, etc. have great deals in the days leading up to christmas - you can do a photo book of you two with fun captions, good quotes, etc. It doesn't have to be a big one, but will have that special touch. Have fun!

Happy early birthday!

For your friend, a makeup brush holder. Glass vase, marbles or sand... Pinterest has a million examples of what I'm talking about if you can't picture it in your head

Not that you want to even consider this but....

You could probably find her some gorgeous country/primitive Christmas ornaments on sale after Christmas for her to use next year (based on your comment of having country decor). I know the stores will be busy after Christmas but it would help with your budget. Try Hobby Lobby if you have one near you; really nice ornaments and they get rid of their inventory pretty quickly to move on to the next holiday = extra savings for you!

I like the idea about the memories photobook too; that is a gift that would keep on giving throughout the year! Doesn't have to be huge or fancy to be awesome.

if she is into makeup, and you wanna be crafty... how about making her a makeup box to store all her crap in? i say this cuz i'm a makeup junkie too and i have waaaaaaaaaay too much makeup, and it was really cool when i found a proper makeup box that could fit all my crap. in needs compartments! not just one big box, and not just tiny little compartments that you can fit like, 2 lipsticks in... you could decorate it with a watermelon theme if you're into it

or you could just buy one

Hey there! I actually stumbled on an amazing find when I was out shopping today. I went into Old Navy thinking I'd find a cute shirt for myself for my sister's birthday party and to my pleasant surprise I found a multitude of gift items to give friends and family! I got a cute purse as a gift for $5 dollars! There are shirts you can purchase anywhere from $5-7 bucks! You could easily do a $10 limit for yourself there without seeming "cheap". Gloves, hats, and cute cute cute scarves were like 2.50!

you could have something like a cup, and you could decorate it with watermelons and then oven baking it. it's personalized and thoughtful! you could make an entire watermelon themed set
