Default Driving instead of walking... really?

So, we live really close to a Sonic Drive-In, less than half a mile. Well, my mom came home from a Sonic mystery shop just now (where she sees if they did all the stuff they're supposed to do, like tell about specials, ask you if you're okay after sitting there for around 10 minutes, etc.) and my brother asked if she got him a chocolate shake, and she said no. So I said, "Why don't we just walk to Sonic?" and he's like "Okay!" but when we were getting ready, he mock-complained that our mom wouldn't drive us anywhere.
So then, our mom says she's gonna drive us there. My brother wasn't being condescending in any way, he was just playing, but I guess since she'd just come home and was still set for going out, she'd take us.
While I appreciated the offer, I really wanted to walk. But my brother was all for driving instead, since it was close to dark out.
Really? Like seriously, I'm not even kidding, less than half a mile to and from, and they were gonna drive there! I didn't go in protest, and I didn't accept the ice cream my mom got for me despite me telling her I didn't want anything (I had intended on getting ice cream, but honestly I didn't need it, and if I wasn't gonna at least walk a little bit for it, then I really didn't need it).

I know I'm being obnoxious about it, but do you guys blame me? Not only was gas used, but the environment is in enough trouble as it is, and stupid crap like this adds up. Man, how annoying...

This happens to me ALL of the time. I have been known to walk while family drives to the destination. Many times they walk as well. It is just a matter of helping to change family habits. Slowly.

I do secret shops too. What company does your mom work for? I have never done Sonic.

It doesn't help that we don't live in a particularly good area of town I guess. No way my parents would let me walk there in the dark by myself, even though I'm totally up to walking anywhere by myself. I realize it's not exactly safe though... but still, it wasn't that late yet, it was only 6pm.

I think she works for various types... I'm not too involved with what she does, I just know she gets all sorts of free food and that she's really good at it. I think Market Force is one of them though.
