Default A good read if you have the time

http://body-improvements.com/resources/eat/

It's very long, but I find it sheds some light on some common misconceptions regarding platueaus, 'starvation mode', etc.

I haven't gotten through all of it yet (in progress), but wanted to say I loved this part:

You're not kidding!

Joss, thanks very much for sharing my article. It means a lot. I saw the traffic flowing through from 3FC and figured I'd drop in. I was posting around here a while back and life sort of got in the way. But yeah, means a lot that you guys invested the time in reading this monster.

I didn't know you were a member over here! I got the link from a friend elsewhere. Nicely written article Steve.

Mirax3, LockItUp - Thanks ladies.

What's funny is I was never a member until I started seeing traffic on my website coming from this forum earlier this year. Someone else started a thread about this article back then. I stuck around for a few weeks, but couldn't keep up. I spend a lot of my time on MFP.

Then your thread brought me back again. Maybe it's a sign that I should stick around.

Thanks again!

I prefer this forum to MPF... that place is, um, disgusting. LOL I check it out for laughs.

I don't like MFP forums, either, but their goal forum is way more active than the one here. Nice article, btw.

In all actuality, I don't participate on the forums. I'll start a thread here and there and it blows up into an educational tool. Beyond that though, I don't ever browse the forum. I started my own group there so it's isolated and different than 'the whole.'

And I use their blog system to 'advertise' my articles. I'm a horrible marketer, so MFP provides a good system of generating readership. Without readers, I don't have much of a reason to write.

But you're right, I do enjoy the conversations here on the main forum better than MFP. It's nearly impossible to converse over there.

Exactly. I use the tool as a means of easily calculating my macronutrient ratios (I tend to not get as much fat as I would like otherwise) and browse the forums here and there. I will chat a bit in the very lighthearted forums, but for the most part stay out of it and don't have any "friends".

I'm not one for all the arguements!

Oooohhhhh there are arguments somewhere? Where is this magical place you speak of?

MFP = My Fitness Pal? I'll have to check it out. Where is most of the action? Low carb vs low fat dieters?

Starvation mode. There's blood spilled over starvation mode over at myfitnesspal. Oh, and eating back exercise calories.

There's so much volume over there due to the sheer number of users, the debates aren't even fun. You can make the most amazing point in the world and it gets lost in a matter of seconds. It's not worth your time.
