Default Fatigue

So I'm on day 5 on IP, and I was doing ok/feeling pretty good until yesterday. Got home from errands around 4:30pm, sat on the couch, and fell asleep HARD. Woke up enough to make dinner, but was still very drowsy for the rest of the night and ended up falling asleep at 9pm after the boys went to bed (usually I go to bed after 11). Is this normal, or should I be concerned? A few things to note:
- I have Hashi's hypothyroid, had a med adjustment about a month before starting IP and was feeling very good (no symptoms).
- I was out of the house most of the day yesterday, and I am pretty sure I didn't drink as much water as the previous days. I also forgot to pack my salt along with my packets, so I don't think I got the amount of salt I usually have.
- I wasn't any more physically active than any other day (actually on Friday I did 15 minutes of very light flexibility yoga and felt fine afterward.

Any advice is appreciated!

Hi....I'm just heading towards my 5th WI this week, but I know that for about the first 2 weeks OP I would need a nap around 4:00 in the afternoon. It was really weird because I never take naps, but my eyes were so heavy I couldn't even keep them open! I would fall asleep for maybe an hour or more....very uncharacteristic of me. When I could finally peel my eyes back open, I would fly around the house because I was so confused about what time it was!!! The funny thing is that I still went to bed at the same time. It was like I never even took a 1-2 nap that day. So, I don't know if it is normal or not, but the same exact thing happened to me. Now, in my 5th week, that tiredness is completely gone. So, who knows...maybe just one more adjustment your body is needing to make. Good luck to you!

Hi!
I just finished week 4...I use IP vitamins and supplements but not their shakes, as I use EAS lo carb shakes.

I get very fatigued easily and do not have have the energy I would like, but I do have good weight loss. Of course the standard answer is get plenty of water, get your evoo in and your sea salt also. Which I do and am still tired and fatigued in the afternoons.

Some would say you might need an extra IP packet or have a larger breakfast or add veggie to your morning shake, all good advice. I would certainly say check with your coach as you are paying them for just that reason.

But with your admitted lack of water and salt, well, that could be it right there. You really have to work the program so it will work for you. You have to do your part here or you can get problems.

About your thyroid: I am clueless but if you feel ANY problems that are not easily remedied, call your doctor right away and let them decide what is best for your personal medical health as they know all about you and we don't!

That being said, many people here have plenty of energy, never tired, never hungry...I call them "the blessed ones"! haha! I am ALWAYS hungry, often tired as heck, and rarely have energy. I figure that will come later when I add in a proper diet with proper calories during maintenance. We are all different and require different nutrients to blossom, just like plants in a garden. Also remember, you just started! You should expect to feel different as your body adjusts in the weeks ahead to far fewer calories, being in ketosis, etc etc.

Advice: SLEEP! If your body says it wants sleep, give it what it needs! Listen to your body! You will adjust along the way and it will produce results! You have to commit to at least 1 month dedicated to this to settle-in to a routine, in my opinion anyway. I know its taken me the first 4 weeks to get where I have a routine now.

Good luck, drink all your water, get all your sea salt SPLIT between lunch and dinner, and follow the sheet for phase 1!
Cheers
Jake

Thanks so much! I am definitely going to be more diligent with the water and salt and see if that helps, but it's nice to know I'm not alone! I have my first weigh in on Wednesday so I have no idea how my body is taking to the diet, but I feel like some of my pants are fitting a little better so I'm hopeful!

My coach said I could add a hard boiled egg but I figured that was more if the cravings/hunger got bad, it might be that I just need the extra boost. Will definitely talk to my coach and see what she says.

Morning Mammoth -

I do EAS as well - I just started using this:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Eas-Advant...-4-pk/10294433

Sometimes I use the powder though - here:

http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CFgQ8wIwAA

But I try best to use the rtd because it's more comparable to the IP shake. And the powder is sooooo much protein! I dont like over doing it.

Do you know, by any chance, if the EAS Low Carb Advantage exists in a powder?
