Default Just joined WW

I just joined WW on Monday. A few of my coworkers and I decided to join together, so we could motivate each other an help each other along. I hope it turns out to be fun and useful. The last time we all decided to try to do something together, I wasn't doing well with weight loss, and kind of lost interest in the whole thing. It's weird how sometimes working with others can inhibit my enthusiasm rather than encourage it. But they all eventually lost interest too.

I think the point system is interesting and quite easy to follow. I'm just curious how it works with fruit being zero value. Even veggies. How do people lose weight while following that? I just think it would be so easy to overeat fruit since it's 0 points. At least in my case, where I'd rather eat fruit over vegetables.

And then you get in to the Points Plus, where I'm allowed to go 49 points above my daily! And then there's the Activity Points! And I'm supposed to lose? I've gone in to my "extra points" a couple of times now just because I'm so hungry, even though I planned to hold on to them until tomorrow and have a free day.

I'm hungrier than ever, but maybe that's the price I will have to pay.... or maybe my body will adjust to the lower calories (I hope). I just try to get full on vegetables first, and hope for willpower!

For my first few days, I went over by a few points. Your body should adjust accordingly, it just may take a little while. Now, four weeks in to it, I don't use any of my bonus points. I also don't use my activity points. I don't work well with the 'work out so you can eat a lot' mentality. I earn a lot of points by working out, but never use them.

As far as the zero value goes, I usually count 1 point for fruits and nothing for veggies that aren't starchy. I like to eat a lot of peppers, mushrooms, pickles, and kale, so I don't count those. If I eat mashed potatoes though, they certainly count! It's up to you how you want to do it.

Hang in there! = ]

WW accounts for a certain # of calories for zero point items in the system already. They are meant to be eaten *to satisfaction*, not a free-for all, because even though they have 0 points, 0 point items still have calories. You only have to count points for the items that have points (starchy vegetables, for example). Otherwise, you do not have to count points for fruit or veg that are 0 points, ever, no matter how many servings you have. If you're losing, then don't worry about fruit or vegetables. Otherwise, trust the program. It works.

When I asked my WW leader about the free fruits and vegetables she suggested to me that for fruits to not go above 5 servings of '0' point fruits/day and if I do, to track them. (each serving being 1/2 cup)

I know there are different suggestions from different leaders floating around, but this has worked for me so far

I joined weight watchers a few weeks ago. I like it so far. My first week, when I would first wake up, I would feel like ****, but that faded away quickly

to WW, Twinieten! I tend to be careful with fruits and starchy vegetables and if I have already exceeded my 5 servings for the day, I count the extras.

As for the WP (weekly points), some people find that they don't lose at a rate they like if they use all the points, some can only use half of the weekly points to get a decent loss so you'll have to tweak and see what works for you.

Back when I was working out, I usually didn't eat the AP because I have the WP if I get hungry.

I am currently doing WW but using the wendie plan style but I don't always eat all of the points each day, just least my daily points though. This is usually for breaking plateaus but I like doing it this way.

Gracious! Co-workers are horrible, horrible people!! Mine bring in cookies and cup cakes and sweets all the time! They come into my cube and offer them to me when they KNOW I'm trying to lose weight. I stopped arguing with them. I just take what ever they are passing out and throw it in the trash when they walk away. It feels REALLY good!!!

Hi there! I joined WW in January. I generally eat about half of my weekly points. Actually, I drink them...I like beer. As for the fruit and veg, I typically eat an apple every day and at least four servings of veg. I usually don't eat more than the 5 servings as recommended by the GHG. Lessee, what else can I tell you? The first two weeks on was on WW, I was hungry but I made it through. Now, I don't struggle with hunger at all.

Hang in there through the hungry phase; it gets easier from there.
