Default How many pounds equals a dress size?

So apparently 10 pounds equals one dress size. Just curious if this estimate is accurate? How many pounds do you generally have to lose for YOU to go down a dress size? I think height plays a huge role.

For me I think it's about 12 lbs?

I think also your body shape comes into play. I was probably dropping a dress size for each 6 lbs for the first part of my weightloss because I tend to lose in my hips and belly first but now that I am finally losing in my arms and boobs it is taking more weight to go down another size but I feel like eack lb I lose is making a bigger difference in how I look like losing 5 lbs is more noticable to people around me even though I haven't changed sizes in the last 8 lbs.

I think I would agree with 10lbs. But it would depend on your height. For me, it would be 10lbs. I was one size, nearly on the next size up. But then I lost about 10lbs - 12lbs and now I'm still in that size clothes but could probably fit into a size smaller now, but would possible be a tight fit.

I'm fairly tall.. I've just noticed a drop in dress size (about 1-2 sizes.. cos they vary so much shop to shop it's hard to say but I've gone from a UK 10 top to 8-6 top and a UK 12-14 bottom to a UK 12-10) and it's taken me 14lbs.

It really depends. When I was bigger it would take 15-20lbs to drop a dress size. At smaller weights it took me 10lbs and when I got near 0/2 it took just a few pounds.

I think I was pretty confused about dress sizes (and totally in denial) so when I started I thought I was a tight 10uk, I'm short and slim build so it helped me fit into smaller sized clothes, plus there's just so much difference between shops that I never really noticed. It was actually what fed my denial about my weight- I would look at my bmi and think "how can I be overweight? I'm a size 10!"

I've felt like I was a size 10UK for the majority of my journey. It wasn't until I got down to about 126 that I became an size 8UK. I now fit into 6,8 and some places 4s (size 0) but I still class myself as an 8.

For me, I'd guess it's about 10-15 ibs

It's been 8-10 for me. Though, I've recently dropped from a 10 to a 6 in only a few lbs, thanks to weight lifting.

Oh I wish it was that simple. I carry all my weight in my stomach and hips, so it takes more for me to drop a pant size! ahhhh the frustration.

It took me 25 pounds to lose from an XL to a Large. I carry all my weight in my belly and I was getting too big for the XL when I started.

A LG and XL are actually 2 sizes each so that could be why it took so long for me.

I've lost 17 lbs and have yet to go from a 12 to a 10. I carry most of my weight in my belly though and I've lost more in my legs, arms, and face. So all of my pants are not getting too loose in the butt and thigh area but a size down is still too tight in the waist. It's very very frustrating. Maybe when I hit the -20 mark I'll finally be a 10 again!

I'd have to say for me it's usually about 10-12 lbs. I've lost 25 lbs and gone down 2 dress sizes, almost 3.
