How did you find IP?
Finding IP was one of the happiest accidents of my life -- a colleague mentioned another colleague who had lost a lot of weight quickly. She was going to an IP informational session later that week and on a whim I agreed to come along. It was just the right time -- I was sooooo ready so I couldn't wait to get started.
How did you find IP? I know they don't advertise so I figure most of it's referral . . .what's your story?
A lady that worked with my mom had loss over 100lbs in a short amount of time so she questioned her. The same day I called the number on the website, found a clinic and started the next day. The rest is history
I saw my friend comment on her friend's photo on FB. (Basically I was cyber-evesdropping) She was saying how great she looked and wanted to know what she was doing. Her friend said she was on IP. I immediately did some research. It sounded like a legit and healthy program so I found a clinic nearby and went to a seminar. I wanted to start right away but because I was still breastfeeding my son once a day, I had to wait. I weaned my son over the next 3 weeks and signed right after.
I saw a segment on one of our local news stations... One of the women interviewed actually has a clinic about 10 minutes from my house.... Funny thing is I rarely watch the news, but so glad I did!!! Everything just fell into place, like it was meant to be... Now I have a month under my belt & LOVE IP!!
My doctor told me that nurses she knew were having success on the protocol. She discussed a few other options and I research them all before picking IP. Once I made that decision, I started 2 days later.
I was reading the PCOS threads on 3 fatchicks and someone said Ideal Protein was the only plan that had ever worked for her. I had never heard of it and went online to read about it.
I was surprised after I started the plan to notice an IP sign outside a clinic that I had driven past daily and had not registered what it was advertising.
I will always remember the day. I was at training on 3-28-12 and saw a buddy I see once or twice a year. I've known him for 9 years. He looked awesome. I asked how much weight he lost and how. He said IP. I Google's it on my Droid, calked the local number on break. Half an hour into my drive home my soon to be coach called me back. They were having g a meeting that night in the area I just left. I turned around a d went. I started the next day! That was 12 weeks and 92 pounds ago. I text my buddy every day after WI and thank him.
I was at my primary care physician's office getting my latest blood test results (which were horrible) and asked her if there was a magic pill I could take that would melt the fat off. She laughed and then she asked me if I would be interested in hearing about the diet they were offering through their office that lots of folks had success on. I said "Tell me about it, please!"
I started on the Ideal Protein Diet the next day. Love it!
Friends had started 'clean eating' January 1 and when I saw them at the end of that month I was stunned at how much they had lost. When we dropped our puppy off with them two weeks later as we were leaving for the Dominican, they handed us the brochure about IP explaining that's what they were doing to lose the weight.
DH and I discussed it one day while eating from our plates stacked high with junk from the buffet and decided we were going to start March 1. Went to an orientation session when we got home, bought our starter kits, and March 1 was the first day of the rest of our healthy lives.
I had been trying since my Dr. appt 6 months before to lose 15lb - that was 'the goal' we had set, unsuccessfully on my own. I had actually pushed back the 6month followup by 5 weeks because I was so ashamed that I had only lost 6lb in that time. At the checkup I started the conversation with her about how hard it was for me to lose the weight with my new back problem (aggravated by my pregnancy, can't really exercise much). She had just started supporting IP in her office and told me about it. I made an appointment with the coach for the next week and started the next day on 2/28/2012. I am SO GRATEFUL to my Doctor and IP - this is truly a life changer and I have no worries that as we try for our next pregnancy my complications will be greatly reduced. That is my real 'motivator' here, our future child and our health - but it's shown me that I can do it, and I am learning tools and a new way of eating that I can take with me for the rest of my long, happy, healthy life.
One of my coworkers had lost about 30lbs and looked great. She told another coworker who was looking at options too. That second coworker was a good listener for me in the same timeframe as I was hitting rock bottom in trying every diet and not being successful. I was sooooo frustrated. My last plan was to buy a trainer about 3x a week and pour money into hoping that would work. She told me about IP and I researched it for two weeks and then started. I was afraid of the restriction since I was on Jenny Craig and WW and had failure with less restricted diets, but the black and white guidelines proved to be successful.
