Welcome Piper. It really helps to post a lot and get support. Check out the food logs thread for menu ideas. I have been doing this off and on since October. Some of the most valuable tips I can give you are:
1. Drink all your water - it helps to wash the fat away (literally)
2. Exercise is really important. Even just walking is great. 1/2 hour per day.
3. Vitamins will help too, esp. potassium and magnesium.
4. Don't skimp on the fats in the beginning. Allow yourself what you need to feel satisfied. The longer you do low carb, the less hungry you will be and your fat consumption will naturally lower.
5. If you must have carbs try to have them early in the day.
6. Don't be discouraged if you fail. I have fallen off the wagon many times. What keeps me coming back is how much better I felt doing this WOE, and how easy it is in terms of a 'diet.'
7. Don't be discouraged if you plateau. You are still losing fat even if it is not measurable on the scale. Taking measurements is helpful.
8. Avoid alchohol whenever possible. I am a big wine drinker but sometimes if I have wine then it is easier to justify eating carb laden foods. Beer is killer in terms of carbs. If you must drink stick to white wine or vodka drinks. I haven't seen this subject addressed much on these boards, but I know I must have some fellow winos out there! Wine feels like a celebration to me.
