How many pounds did y'all have to lose before you went down in clothing sizes? I'm looking forward to fitting into a size 16 but I have no idea how long or how much weight I need to lose before that happens! I know it's different for everybody, but it's still good to get an idea of what's happening with other people.

Im an exception, but it took me 20 pounds (164 to 144) to go from a size 13 to a size 11... and I am still in between both meaning I can wear some 13s and some 11s. It's pretty sad.

I am 5'3.5 and started at 230 in a tight 20W loose 22W I am at 204 now and am in an missis 18 or a 16W. I think I have another 10-15 pounds before I will fit into a 16.

It was probably about 10 pounds for my first size; should have been wearing 13s, but after about 10 pounds I slimmed down enough for my 11s to be comfy & fitted again. It took me another 15 pounds to get into my size 9s.

I'm much taller than you, but for me it was 20 pounds for a size. I think as you get closer to your goal weight, you need less and less pounds to go down a size.

I think I read on here that it is about 20 pounds for plus sizes and about 10 pounds for regular sizes. I am sure that is based on average height, so if you are tall or short, it would be a little bit different, but that is a ballpark.

Being a pear shape, the first place I lose is my hips and the first place I gain is my hips. Right now, since I'm near my goal weight, 5 lbs equals a size change.

Unfortunately, clothing sizes are not at all related to ACTUAL size. Drivesme crazy! And instead of every size having a 2 inch waistband difference, for example, they increase exponentially as you go up sizes.

From 14 to 12 it took me about 20 pounds. Each size down was about 10 pounds and now in the small sizes, it is about 5 pounds between each size.

It really seems to depend on how tall you are, how you carry your weight, and how much total weight you have to lose.

For me, my weight is concentrated in my belly. I have an awful time finding jeans that fit well because I need an extra inch or two in the waist when I find a pair that fit well in the legs/butt/thighs. It's not been fun, but I'm hoping as I continue to lose, I'll get some proportion back to where it won't be as difficult.

Right now I wear an 18W in pretty much every store I walk into. I started out wearing a 22W. That was 60 pounds ago. So for 60 pounds, I only went from a 22 to an 18. Kind of depressing, but it illustrates my weight distribution as being all in my midsection.

I do agree, it seems like the less you have to lose, the less weight it takes to make the difference.

It took about 30lbs to get from a 22 to a 20.

I'm in a loose 20w now, but my next pair of jeans i have are 18 regular and they're nowhere close to fitting. They pull on but i can't zip them. Maybe around 220 for them?

I guess there's a pretty substantial difference from switching from W to regular sizes. (not that I mind!)

Like others said it really depends.

In the plus sizes it's going to take longer to go down a size (15, 20lbs or more). I know I lost something like 15-20lbs when I went from an 18 to a 16 (I don't know how much I weighed back then). and it took me about the same to get into a 12/14.

Once you get down in the smaller sizes it can sometimes be 10lbs or less. There were times I would drop five pounds and be down a size.

Different brands can vary some and of course people have diverse body types but in general?

Adult Miss (regular) and Adult women's (plus) are even numbers. Juniors are odd numbered and sort of go in between the miss and plus for waist/hip but remember juniors are also slimmer in hips and shorter in height and back because they tend to be growing teens.

Unless you are a teen or a very slim woman I think it's better to toss it out of your range and stick to adult miss and adult plus to accommodate the height of legs and back.

Petites are miss/women adjusted for height for shorter adults. So like a 16WP is a petite plus.

I am tall so have no experience in weight loss in pants in juniors or petites.

ANWAY...

Regular sizes are one ish inch and about 10 ish lbs apart.

Plus size pants are two ish inches and about 20 ish lbs apart.

There is. I'm wearing a 14W today, but most regular 16s don't fit me. I have a pair of 16 jeans that I have been wearing, but all the other 16s I've tried on won't even pull up all the way.

Generally I go down a size after about a 15 pound loss.

In some brands it starts in the 12, others the 14, and others the 16.

But out there in the "border size" between Miss (regular) and Women (plus) where the manufacturer decides it's plus now, it can get weird in the few sizes they overlap. (12 thru 16 or 14 thru 18) They don't quite line up quite right so you really have to pay attention if they are talking about a W size or not.

Like in the womens' chart a 14W is 33.5 - 35 inches in the waist with 44-45.5 inches in the hips.

But in miss chart, a 14 is 31.5 - 32.5 inches in the waist and 41.5-42.5 in the hips.
