Default Just need to rant!

I am trying not to be to hard on myself, but I am very frustrated with myself right now. I posted last week about feeling run down and just over all blah. I took your alls advice to give myself a few rest days and took 3 days off.

Now it feels like Ive hit another wall this week. Im seriously thinking about dropping cardio altogether and just going back to walking. It seems like I was getting more steady results with walking then I am with cardio. Has anyone else had this issue? Ive been stuck at 260lb since Feb 13th. Which is when I started cardio. Am I selling myself short? Or not giving myself enough time to adjust? I know muscles hold water, but the fact is is that Im not even sore. I sweat a whole lot more in cardio then I do in walking, and I am drinking plenty of water but what gives?

Ive also noticed that I am a lot hungrier these past two weeks. Ive been eating 1800ish calories on most days-not including how much Ive burned. No heart monitor, but my health guide estimates its around 300ish with cardio and 200ish with walking.

Im half tempted to take a full week off of exercising. Just overly frustrated and needed to rant. My DH deleted all my measurements (not even going to go there) so all I have atm to compare on that level is measurements from the 15th. Ill probably do that later, but I don't expect to see much of a change. Could I be stuck on a platue? I went from Nov to Jan not dieting and staying between 260 and 270. When I started back up in Jan scale has droped down to 260(morning)-265(at night). Its just ARG!

/end rant

I would definitely try walking instead. Walking is my only exercise (besides some light hand and leg weights) and I've been doing ok, although to be honest it's more my diet that's helping me lose weight.

I'm doing walking because when I do more strenuous exercise it makes me hungry!

If you started on the 13th, thats only 11 days, counting today too. That, IMO, isn't long enough of a time frame to get an idea of what your body will REALLY do on a new work out plan. Cardio helps you lose weight, too. I've done nothing but cardio (walking, running, several billion DVD's, lol) since I started my journey, and it's always been fine.

I started HIIT and stregnth training at about 205 and was literally stuck between 205 and 200 for over a month, it was 42 days, actually.

Do you enjoy the cardio? If you do, you gotta keep going. You'll get results, you have to give it time, though.

JMHO.

I love walking--and it's definitely better to go back to walking than to cut a week of exercise.

Maybe you could consider alternating walking with cardio. I agree with what Kate said, 11 days isn't enough time to evaluate the new program.

I like walking because I can listen to audio books while I do it, and I won't stick to an exercise plan unless I like it. But I've found that cardio with weights (like the old Firm videos from the 90s) made the biggest improvement on my body--I just don't enjoy it as much.

Walking IS cardio.

What's the "cardio" you are talking about? A class? If you get better results walking, walk then!

I think you are type II? What are you doing about the IR? Exercise can help burn off some of the excess insulin but I too deal with crazy IR hunger.

If you are on Metformin, are you remembering that it gobbles up B's? So you may need extra Vit B12? Than can cause an energy slump if you are deficient.

I like my HRM -- those estimating things just don't get me in the ballpark as well. Maybe that's something to think about?

A.

Cardio AKA workout DVD. I think I might be frustrated with it because I don't feel the burn or feel like i put out enough energy as I do when I walk. I like strength training but its an aerobic work out.

And I am not on any sort of medication. As far as I know I am not diabetic, but there is a history of it in my family. I will be having that checked again at my next doc appointment.

Scale was back down to 259.2 this morning. Im not going to weigh myself again til next Friday. If I stop looking at it it probably wont bother me so much.

And Yes I totally need a HRM. I told myself to stop getting distracted on my free days and go buy one this weekend.

Change up the exercise if you need to, but if you keep moving, you'll be rewarded on the scale. I only weigh on Fridays to keep myself from obsessing over the number. If I'm weighing daily and the same weight 2-3 days in a row I know I'd flip out.

It took me over a month to start to see a difference. Just take it easy, move more, eat better, and stop hitting that scale every day.
