Sometimes it's easy to focus on the negative aspects of aging, but I think there are lots of good things about it. Right off the top of my head, here are a few of them.
I've mellowed.
Other people's opinions of me aren't nearly as important any longer.
I wear what's comfortable.
There is more time to volunteer for causes close to my heart.
The children are grown, and now we get to enjoy the grands.
That is just a short list to get us started. Won't you please add what you like about being over 50?
I'm less concerned about fitting in.
I'm more driven to go after what I really want and discard the rest.
My kids are just teenagers, but I'm enjoying the personal freedom that results from their growing independence.
I get a kick out of defying stereotypes about middle age.
I find it easier than ever to accept myself as I am.
What I like about being over 50 is the wisdom I've gained. Knowing what is really important in life - kindness, loving and being loved. I like humor. I love to have a good laugh and make others laugh. I'm still working on figuring out when someone doesn't appreciate my humor. I'm getting better though.

Jane, I'm with you on not caring what other people think, and wearing what's comfortable, ie shoes. I went through years of sore feet because of the shoes I just had to have!
My main thing is now that I'm well over 50, I can get away with being mean and crabby and people just shrug and say "It's because she's old!" I can remember when I worked retail and I would wait on these crabby old ladies and think to myself "Am I going to be like that when I get old?" And the answer is YES!
