Default so what sort of exercise are you all doing?

I really got into Zumba on the run up to my wedding.. so I am gonna be back there this week letting the latin beat make me dance like a crazy woman infront of total strangers..
what is everyone else doing? I found that the zumba did help with the over all feeling of fitness, but it didnt really help me shift weight.. merely inches?
curious to know whats working for others

what sort of stuff are you doing at bootcamp? is that mainly outdoor based?
something that seems big right now here in the UK is team sports.. sort of like using each other to boost moralle.. therefor working harder yourself for the good of the team.. kinda clever.. might give it a try when the weather gets slightly less wet.. lol

The boot camp is very motivating. I was intimidated at first since I was the heaviest person in the group. But the trainers are phenomenal! I may not do all the repetitions as everyone in the group as I'm much slower (and heavier), but I do what I can. The trainers also give alternate moves for the less fit (like me). We do indoor activities, outdoor activities, run stairs, solo or team activities, boxing, use kettlebells, dumbells, balls, bands, truck tires, etc. I'm always drenched in sweat by the time the hour is done. But I feel quite good about it and believe it or not, I'm starting to enjoy it! I've tried gyms and I realized after joining the boot camp that I wasn't pushing myself hard enough. The boot camp gives me no choice! I've lost more weight in a four week period at the boot camps (and inches) then I did four weeks going to the gym on my own. I guess I was watching too much TV!

I have started using a kettlebell at home. Youtube is a great source for different exercises etc. I also power walk and hope to move up to running at some point, I just need to build up the courage.

Im really going to try to commit to just doing some kind of exercise everyday. I want to start off with good old walking, when my children were little i walked miles everyday with the double pram, now they're bigger we go everywhere in the car.
So when the boys are at nursery im going to go power walk around our local park, hopwfully this will eventually lead to jogging!! but we'll see lol

I bought a Racing Bicycle and I have gone from doing a mile a day to over 20 miles a day. (My husband thinks I'm a fanatic). Oh well, keeps me thin.

I do lots of walking but have decided to try out BMF - British Military Fitness. They run classes in local parks so if that doesn't work then nothing will, lol. Just trying to pluck up the courage to join...

I lift heavy weights 1 or 2 times a week. Used to do treadmmill, but prefer to get a calorie deficit through calories instead and I'm a bit pressed for time. I do walked the dog early mornings b4 breakfast, so fasted medium intenisity i guess!!

I've recently joined my local health centre and have just about got into a routine with their classes.

I hydro jog on Mondays and Fridays (lots of fun and hard work, MINUS the sweating which I love!)

Pump twice a week, which is HARD but will really help with body shape I hope!

Spinning, well I've spun once so far, it nearly killed me, but I'm determined to go back in a couple of weeks and fit it in once a week.

Swimming 2 or three times a week.

Walk quickly whenever and wherever I can.

Home workouts once or twice a week.

I also hope to restart the couch to 5k plan when the weather gets warmer or I decide to brave the gym!

Can I ask you all a question as I see such a variety of exercises being used.

Why are you using your chosen exercise? Is it weight loss, fitness, health, fun...or any other? Would love to know

I use weights in short bursts and HIIT as my goals are to lose weight but without hours of cardio.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts

Gary =)

HI GaryHigman I mix it up to keep me interested I think! I want to get fit, I want to get toned and I want to lose weight. So I try to have a good mix of cardio and weights in my routine. Other than that my routine is pretty much based on teh classes offered at my gym at the times I'm free to go, and the things that I enjoy or at least the things I can tolerate!

I think Pump is quite similar to the workout you describe? And it's probably the class I feel the most benefit from, even though I only lift very light weights at the moment!
