Default Caffeine

Food for thought....Dr A says we should not have caffeine yet there is caffeine in many of his supplements, 50 mgs. I guess I won't feel so guilty when I have my cup of coffee tomorrow

I noticed that too! I think it is really excessive caffiene that we need to stay away from. Some claim it is an appetite stimulant, but I always feel nice and full after my cup. I allow one Caffinated beverage a day. Usually coffe in the morning. Sometimes on the weekend, it is a diet soda with ice! Like a treat!

Guilt?

over my cup of coffee?

hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Can you tell I love my coffee, Ellie? Although I will admit that I have over the past several weeks taken miniscule steps towards switching to decaf by substituting one (and JUST one) spoonful in place of the high test.

I am much calmer!

yea, right

Peach - You are so funny. What kind of coffee do you drink? When I go to the Netherlands we bring back a grocery store brand called Perla Mocha. It is outrageous! If you like strong coffee that is... Perhaps I can send some your way...

I was feeling guilty at first about the caffeine--then I got over it!! The headaches were to much for me--so I am back to my coffee in the morning and my diet pepsi in the afternoon!!

Wink shamey-shamey-shamey !!!

on ya'll drinking all that caffeine! Now what would Dr. A say?

Actually we've completely converted over to decaf products. Must admit that I was fortunate and didn't suffer the headaches so many have. DH occasionally comments that the coffee seems a bit "week". LOL He's been drinking de-caf for the last two years but didn't realize until DIL wanted to borrow some and commented on, "oh poop, forgot ya'll drink decaf!".

And I just love my decaf diet pepsi! Need to check out the supplements though.

LOL....I tried to go decaf when I started after three miserable days I started mixing the decaf with reg, (2 scoops reg, 1 decaf ) then said the heck with that! I did give up my diet coke addiction so the only other caffiene I have a little in my Ice Tea. Shame on you Dr A!

Default Hi

I switched to decaf in March on the advise of a Naturepath. I find that my system is much, much calmer. I still have some caffeine in the form of the NO NO - Chocolate - dark chocolate once in a while. I am one of those that gets an addiction to caffeine and the headaches were horrendous. This is the third time I have given up caffeine and maybe I am smart enough to stay away from it this time

I am (was) a caffiene junkie. 20+ years of coffee and Diet Pepsi all day long (over 17 hours). I used to drink a 12 pack of DP in 2-3 days - easy plus many cups of coffee. Two weeks ago, I gave up the DP. Still drink 18 oz. of coffee in the a.m. to get my motor started. That's it. No headaches like I used to get when I tried it cold turkey a few times over the years. Argh. I did drink a 6 oz. cup of coffee last Thursday eve so I could stay awake long enough to watch my fav show, Survivor. I gave it up only to see IF Dr. A is right about it slowing down my metabolism. I also eliminated NutriSweet and switched completely to Splenda. Did NOT know that Dr. A's products has caffiene though. Are you speaking of products other than his chocolate bars?

funny coincidence...I was wondering about caffeine today. I drink Diet Coke, and I'm trying to cut back on caffeine, but I find if I don't have any at all I am so groggy in the morning I can't even think. I used to drink at least 2 and sometimes 4 a day. I can't cut it out completely, so I think I'll continue to have at least one a day, and drink plenty of water and decaf tea and maybe a decaf Diet Coke once in a while.

Found a reference that gives caffeine content:

http://wilstar.net/caffeine.htm

And there's an interesting article on how caffeine works on your body on the website "How Stuff works"

I just love a cup of strong great coffee in the morning. I buy the good stuff and really enjoy it. For 1 carb and a little caffeine it makes me downright happy. I just checked my multi-vitamin and was surprized to find caffeine there too I refuse to give up all of our simple pleasures. Thanks for the interesting tid-bits ladies and enjoy your cuppa whatever Lori

I was always a huge diet pepsi drinker and I usually drink one cup of coffee in the morning. After starting this diet we decided to switch to diet rite which is made with splenda rather than aspartame like diet pepsi. It aslo has no caffeine. I have noticed that I sleep better and in general feel better but I still have that one cup of coffee in the a.m. to get me going and then on the nights that I work 3rd shift I usually have to have either a caffeinated soda or a cup of coffee around 4 a.m.. With my job you've gotta do something to keep you awake cause it can get mighty quiet watching other people snoozing away!
