I felt irritable and headachy. I think I have carb withdrawls. I usually feel the worst on day 3 and better by day 5. Drink lots of water. Also, if you get a bad headache drinking some broth (salt) can help.

The crappy feeling should go away in a few days. Make sure you are drinking a ton of water. It is easy to get dehydrated during the first week while your body is adjusting.

Default Day 3 here

On day 1, I felt weird, light headed and spacey with a headache (but I get those all the time) even felt a little depressed toward the afternoon. Not hungry at all either. I really had to struggle to make myself eat enough. I don't want to restrict calories AND go Atkins do I? I must admit I havent' read the entire book. I guess I should.

Day 2, I felt the same as day 1.

Day 3- Today...I am feeling better, not spacey or lightheaded but still am not hungry at all. Weird. I know from past experience if I don't eat enough calories I will not lose weight at all or will lose verrry slowly.

Thanks for all the replies! So far I am okay. The crappy feeling is off and on now. I am hungry so I know I can eat, But I am sticking to this and I am not giving up!! I will have to try the broth because I have had a headache all day. Everytime I get hungry, and I already ate, I drink water. I have had 48 ounces of water today. The only issue I am having is what to put in my coffee. I thought sugar free creamer would be okay as it has 2 grams of carbs, but then it has aspartame and I read thats a no-no while on Atkins. So what do you use? Splenda, cream, half and half? Anyone else have some tasty ideas for flavoring coffee??

Heavy cream & Splenda are yes-yes on Atkins.
If you're looking for flavor, DaVinci's sugar free syrup is your best bet. LOTS of great flavors like caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, amaretto, english toffee, irish cream They're available online and some Walmart's carry the basic flavors like vanilla & caramel.

I went out and bought heavy cream and splenda and its manageable! I will try Davinci sugar free syrup. Sounds great. Today is an even more tough day. Im craving so bad as I type this and most of you say the cravings go away after a few days. I sure hope so. My addiction to carbs is yelling at me to go and eat bread and it doesnt help that my two young boys love their peanut butter sandwich. I practically have to plug my nose when i cook for them. God I feel guilty. I dont want to fail.

Don't worry - I feel the same way. What are you eating? Make sure to get plenty of fat and fiber to feel full and satisfied.

I like atkins comfort food to replace carb comfort food

Ie bacon and eggs, deviled eggs, meat balls on tooth picks (watch for added filler/sauce), burger patti with blue cheese, bacon and avocado, a large green salad smothered in Ranch with some olives and bacon crumbled on it. Etc!

Atkins made me sick last night. Vomited, and fainted. My blood sugar was dangerously low(ive had hypoglycemia for years now!). Hubby had to rush sugar pills to me. Im devastated. Doctor says I should stay off of it. Thank you so much for the support and advice! Keep losing those pounds everyone.
