Default avoiding junk food at work functions

Hi all-

I am starting medifast tomorrow morning. I think it will be challenging but manageable (if only because it was so painful to part with ~$300 that I will definitely do my best!). My dad has been doing for a few months now with great success in terms of weight loss and improved energy. I figure I might as well start now while he is there for emotional support.

My main concern is how to avoid food at work without everyone else getting all up in my business (so to speak). There is almost always cake or cookies in the office... I think I can avoid that by just saying "no thanks" or "not now" when it's offered.
But... we order food as a group for lab meeting every week. I don't want to not order food because everyone will question me as to why. We are a fairly close and boisterous bunch so I would definitely be questioned vigorously.
I was thinking I could just order something my boyfriend would like, poke around at it during the meeting, and then bring it home?

I guess I could just suck it up and tell my coworkers what I'm up to, but I'd like to maintain SOME division between my work and private life...

Anyway, I would really appreciate ideas/advice from those of you that have encountered this situation before or just want to add your two cents.

Thank you for your time!

Hi gleb! I am starting tomorrow as well. Since it's only a weekly ordering would it be possible to make that your L&G for the day? That would depend of course on what types of restaurants you order from. My office also does tons of cakes and baked goods. I just tend to stay away from the "food table" all togeather. Out of site, out of mind...
Good luck! I'm glad to see someone else starting with me.

Actually, that's an excellent suggestion. If the restaurant they're ordering from has the option, order a salad or vegetables that could be your lean-and-green meal for the day. If the restaurant doesn't offer anything that could be L&G, then defer ordering that time, because you're trying to "eat healthy."

I do this all the time. People do question it, but all you need to say is the above, smile, and leave it at that. The only people that tend to keep talking about it are usually those who are genuinely interested in losing or those who feel guilt and crack jokes. Both are easy to determine

I eat my Lean and green at lunch every day. I haven't found a place yet that didn't have a chicken salad. The other thing is if you go home and have to make dinner for someone else that is tough, but you can always split your lean and green. Sometimes I'll do half my Lean and a soup for a meal, and then I eat my green and rest of my lean at dinner.

I actually told a lot of people at work that I'm seriously dieting. I figure it's harder for me to cheat there if I'm accountable. Bonus - another lady at work started Medifast just before I did, so I even have someone to talk to about it.
