Default Injured and annoyed

The last couple of months I've been having some discomfort in my ankle, which of course I ignored. It would come and go so I figured it was no big deal. I went to the doc the other day to find out it's a stretched ligament, which I guess is a sprain. So here I am in a super annoying brace, which I don't feel like is doing ANYTHING. I'm limping around hurting my knees and my other leg, and I can't work out like I usually do. I'm SO depressed. I'm also a fitness instructor so they had to find a sub for me for a few weeks and I HATE that!! I want to teach my classes!!

I'm still working my upper body and abs but trying to stay off my feet as much as possible. Unfortunately living in NYC makes that difficult since I have to walk EVERYWHERE. I took today off from work because I aggravated my ankle yesterday trying to navigate the snowy and slushy street corners, which of course are not cleaned up yet and won't be for a while. So I'm stuck inside alone all weekend and I'm already bored and cranky. I had no idea that not exercising would have such an impact on me. I'm terrified that I'm going to gain back all the weight I worked so hard to lose. I know it won't happen in a matter of weeks and I need to watch what I eat even more than usual, but since I'm in a 'mood' all I want to do is eat and drink!!!!!

UGH sorry for the rant.....

I'm sorry to hear that, but you should rest or else you can injure yourself more and then really be stuck.
stretched ligaments can turn into torn ligaments, which trust me, are really no fun at all.
Take a breather, and you'll be back before you know it.
Just do different exercises (maybe the rowing machine if you go to the gym?) and eat really cleanly

It'll get better- but next time definitely listen to your body and invest in good shoes or any other equipment. I know from personal experience. I hurt myself so bad because of bad shoes I wasn't allowed to workout for months. I limped around in pain forever- I thought the pain would never go away. Now if I get pain I immediately stop and skip a day or do something that won't aggravate my foot (the doctor said tendonitis is forever) and re-injure it.

So far it's worked out well. I've come to learn that I can't do hard treadmill workouts two days in a row- I always have to alternate but that's fine with me.

I feel your pain. It IS frustrating. But, it isn't forever.

In October I had a dangerous heart arrhythmia and I was hospitalized for 3 days. After multiple tests, there was no conclusive result but my doctors believed I had a congenitive disease called ARVD. With ARVD, you are instructed to NEVER exercise again as it progresses the disease faster. It was a very emotional time and I was extremely sedentary.

I found another doctor who wanted to get a conclusion to my heart issues much faster and after more testing, I am actually ARVD free. I had an invasive procedure on Wednesday, but in 1 week I will be back to being able to exercise once again and hopefully forever.

I know you guys are all SO right! I need to listen to my body more. I'm NOT invincible! And it could be so much worse. I need to get a grip!

Nixtietink, I'm so glad to hear it didn't end up being ARVD! That sounds terrible. I hope you're feeling better soon!
