Default What's the deal with nuts?

Although I'm trying to stick to induction-style this week, I needed something else for variety. While in the supermarket last night I picked up a can of smoked, salted almonds (yum). The package says 4 grams of carbs per serving, 3 grams of fiber. This makes it a one carb snack! Same as cheese.

So why aren't we allowed nuts on induction? Anyone know? I just love nuts.

I think I read somewhere that SOME people react badly to nuts. It makes their insulin production go up.... or something. I could be wrong about this though. Personally I eat alot of things that aren't allowed in strict induction, but if they don't make me have cravings for sugar or carbs, and I stay under my 20 gram limit, I'm okay with it.

Watch out for all the salt in those smoked almonds. What I generally do with salted nuts is put them in a seive and give them a good shake. All that excess salt (and there's a LOT) goes into the sink and down the drain. Sometimes, if they're really salty and the salt seems to want to cling, I'll remove half the nuts and rinse them off with water, dry them well and mix them back in with the rest. I sure don't need a lot of extra salt making me balloon.

I agree with Linda, watch the salted almonds. I usually go over to the baker's aisle and buy the raw whole almonds in the small packages--perfect size for a snackie and no salt!
