Question swelling at night time

Have any of you experienced swelling while you sleep....only to wake up and find your hands and face are very puffy?

Its not from sugar(use to be the case) and its not from salt, I eat every little, and what I do eat, is in the morning.

I could understand if I wasnt eating properly...then I'd expect it. But some days it feels like I ate a huge pizza the night before, I wake and Im all swollen.

Any ideas as to why, would be very much appreciated......and remedies

Thankyou
Robin

I think some of it depends on what you are eating. Lots of processed foods are high in sodium. I don't think you have to be adding extra salt to be bothered by water retention.

When you are bothered by swelling, think back to the previous day what you ate. That might help in the future. Plus, drink your water. It really does help flush you out.

Check the food log thread and tell me what you think.....I eat very little if any processed foods. Little salt except on my boiled egg and the little bit in my cheese (not alot of cheese)

I get 80+ oz a day of water......by the end of the day my rings are hard too keep on my fingers. But in the am, I cant get them off.

Im taking, L-carnitine, mag, chromium pic, and a multi.

Robin,
If I were you, I'd make a Drs. appointment. Now it could be just nothing. But I think you would be better off if you go see your Dr. and let them know what is happening. At night, you should become less swollen (if you are). That is because you aren't fighting gravity to get your fluids circulating up from your feet or extremites. For some reason, fluids are getting trapped when they shouldn't be. All kinds of things can cause this. It's better to get it checked out rather than guess.

Just wondering how old you are, and do you take any prescription meds??

I tend to agree that perhaps you need to see the doctor if it's an everyday occurance.

Robin, I don't know if this is it but in the winter with the heat coming up I get very dehydrated during the night and this makes me swell. In fact in my bedroom I have the heater turned off and the window fan on. This weekend I stayed in a hotel and we couldn't open the windows and I felt soooo swollen and tight in the morning and woke up twice during the night to drink water. The air get so dry indoors in the winter this might be it. Just a thought. A humidifier might help.

Thanks Tilly
This might be it, up until about 3 days ago I was going to bed really bundled up. This diet tends to make me cold. Long pj's and wooly socks to boot. Hubby wasnt too pleased, but he thought it was better than an icy butt up against him!

I hope thats what it is.
