This year I wasted aweigh yet another year of self sabotage/self pity parties which comes to an end for me. I had enough snacking/overeating so much junk,food..I read here daily while snacking little debbie cakes, which I know that is a no no..and I must come clean and let this site be my weight loss net home.
Another thing is when I looked at the mirror and seen myself full body, I just got more depressed and realize to do something about it . I am not getting any younger, my birthday is on January and in 2011 , I want to get down at least 100 Lbs as my 1st short term goal.
I taken out my food scale, measure spoons, cups,..foodmover which am and will be commited start Dec 1st. Ready or not, I need to do this!!
Looking forward on knowing you through my Weight loss destinty...
Welcome, Lillian! You have come to the right place for support. Post often as we are all going thru or have gone thru what you are experiencing right now. You have to start somewhere. You can do this, we can all do this.
Welcome! You have come to a great space. First advice with love.... Step AWAY from the Little Debbie's :-)
It is great that you are starting. looking forward to hearing your successes!!!
Welcome back, Liliann. It is good to hear from you again. Just know that you can do this!
I do have one suggestion for you. Instead of setting a goal to lose at least 100 pounds in a year, why don't you focus on smaller goals? You might be setting yourself up for discouragement. If you loss 50, 60, or 70 pounds in a year you will be doing great. Every pound helps!
Welcome Liliann! This is your time to just do it. We are here for you! Small changes can make a difference. I agree with time2lose to break your weight loss into smaller goals and celebrate all your little weight loss victories.
Right, how are you going to do it? Calorie counting is a good and simple way to go.
To get One good day under your belt is a huge motivator, because then all - 'all!' you have to do is repeat the good day....
Sounds like you've come to the realization that sugar has got a hold on you; the only way to escape it's grip is by eliminating it. At least that's what majority of the big losers have found around here. You can't sneak it in. Not a bite. You then keep that hold firm. Even one bite does it! Elimination. I urge you to commit to it. You will be shocked to see how your cravings for it disappears. The first couple of weeks may be rough, but you must push past them, knowing that there is a big pay off.
You too CAN be a big loser. Make that plan, count those calories, get rid of the junk ,get rid of the junk, get rid of the junk, add in delicious nutritious foods, become passionate about taking care of yourself and your body and you too can and will be a big loser.
Thank you all for the warm welcome and support!.. I am calorie counter of using Richard Simmons Foodmover to keep track of foods...water..am starting at 2000 controlled calories.
Thank you for those suggesstion of my goal setting, I reset on 20 Lbs at a time..
Yay, Liliann, so glad you are back! You weren't gone long at all, and that tells me that you have been giving this a lot of thought and you are really ready to make some changes. A big lifestyle change often requires a bit of thought and contemplation before it can really begin. You've done the thinking and contemplating, getting yourself mentally ready, now it's time to GO!!
As someone who started off close to where you are, I wanted to let you know that I really do understand how hard it is to take that first earnest step to making changes. Just getting to that high weight is so scary and it really makes a person wonder if change is possible. I still am a long way from where I need to get, but I've gotten a really good start going and there is no stopping now, so I wanted to let you know from the bottom of my heart that it surely IS possible!
I want to echo what Robin said about the sugar thing. I've never considered myself a big sugar lover, I prefer my crapola salty and fried. But I was never one to turn down dessert, either, and I have discovered that I really do have a major problem with sugar/empty carbs. They make me climb the WALLS with hunger, and yeah, as big as I am/was, I obviously just don't do hunger well.
Your plan of 2000 calories and using the Foodmover to track sounds like a good idea. I calorie count as well, and it works great for me. But I would urge you to take that a step further and DON'T use your calorie allotment for the day on sugar/carby stuff. Lots of lean protein and veggies, moderate complex carbs, and less of the processed stuff -- that's what I do. It was indeed uncomfortable for maybe a couple weeks till I got the cravings beat down. But now honestly, I eat my 1400-2000 calories a day (depending on the day), and I am fully satisfied. Over Thanksgiving I splurged a bit on the no-no stuff, and those monster cravings were back. Just a few days back on plan, and they were gone again. Get rid of that crap that makes you MORE hungry, and it is much smoother sailing.
Finally, and I know this is getting long, I want to tell you that you don't have to get anywhere close to goal to start feeling a H$LL of a LOT better. No need to stress about the number of pounds. Just work your plan and watch the weight fall off in it's own time, and enjoy the benefits of that as you go down.
I'm with you on this, darlin'. Keep posting and get serious. It is SOOOOOO worth it!!!!
