Mauvaisroux,
I just posted it. Make them really small, they become a lot bigger when they hit the oil, plus if you try to make them too big, they don't cook in the middle. I got a kick out of these and they're easy.
Nikki
How is everyone doing this week? I am off induction, thank god. I know you are supposed to add carbs in small increments but to be honest I am going to just allow myself unlimited veggies (of the good kind of course) and maybe some berries...mmmm those sound good!
I think I got myself into a little trouble with the Atkins Advantage bars. I noticed that they made me feel a little sick. I ate one pretty much every day last week and did not lose that much weight. So I'm going to swear off them, especially now that I am going to allow myself some fruit (maybe one serving per day, mostly berries and apples).
Last night I made a spagettie squash casserole with olive oil, s&p, tomato paste and cheese - boy it was good. Also cooked up some chicken breasts and broccoli for the week. I am craving the additional vegetables!
I did cheat yesterday - I ate a big grab size bag of Doritos and had a couple of (light) beers. But I still weighed the same this morning so that's good. I'm at 149 now, and my goal is to be at 143 by the end of November. I'll get there!!
Hi Tilly,
I have the same problem with the bars. At first, it was one once in awhile, then everyday, then I was unconsciously eating them a couple of times a day. I just have to leave them alone. Somersizers eat their fruit in the morning, since they're higher carbed. That way, you have all day to work off the carbs. To me, that just makes sense and is a good way to get some extra energy to start the day with.
Good going with the weight loss, your almost there!
Nikki
It's been snowing most of the afternoon. I have no idea if we're to get any accumulation. If we're having snow this early, I'm wondering if we'll have a white Thanksgiving.
I cooked the Jicama. It was horrible It seemed to take forever to cook. It was just a little bit soft when we mashed it, and it reminded me of turnips. I still prefere the celery root.
Hi Tilly, and welcome. The spaghetti squash casserole sounds yummy. Congratulations on being near your goal. You're lucky..I still have a ways to go.
Good evening ladies! I am working on DAY 2 of On Plan eating! Tonight has been hard, kinda in small 'debates' with the husband, always makes me wanna eat...but I will manage. I have decaf coffee brewing. Keeps me from reaching for something bad and helps me stay sane.
I have to make a confession. I haven't put my Gazelle together. Eeek! Hoping this will shame me into the assembly! I HATE to put things together. I hoped to whine enough that I would find it magically assembled by the husband, but it didn't work!
I'm feeling a bit under the weather here. My office was so cold we had to leave early. It must have been in the low 60's. Brrr! I'm getting that 'lost weight so now I'm cold' feeling as well. I tried to come home, but had workmen doing some repairs, so I got no rest! End of complaint
Jennifer... I had to pace myself putting my exercise thingys together. I finally decided that the putting together was going to be my exercise for however many days it took. I always get very disgusted when bolt C doesn't go in hole C because it was drilled wrong. I'm not good enough with tools to get these things fixed easily. But, it eventually gets done. I hope yours does too.
Tilly, I'm one of those who eats the non-starchy veges pretty regularly. I also stay very clear of those snack bars and things. This time I'm also limiting my cheese and sour cream quota. It's funny what I will pig out on if given the opportunity! I've gotten into my daily snack of blueberries and strawberries (low carb fruits). I didn't have any tonight and immediately ate several servings of nuts....sigh! I think my appetite is a 3 year old sometimes.
Nikki, I like Jicama as raw crudites. Cut in matchsticks and use as a dipper in a yummy sauce. It is good with sorta sweet salads too. I can't think that too much at once would be desirable, but more as an accent.
Mauvisroux and Nikki, the doughnut things sound great.
Well, it is warming up here finally with the heater on and the kit kats purring. See you soon!
Just saw your post and wanted to let you know I moved it over to the WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARDS, where we tend to congregate the most, so more can see your post Hope you don't mind. I'm going to copy it right on to the weekly board tomorrow morning so it will be on that board instead of just it's own thread.
It has been snowing all day-I am sooo not ready for winter!
DH and I went out to buy him winter boots tonight and we came home with not only the boots but 3 shirts for him and 6 winter tops for me I felt guilty for spending but I really needed some clothes for work-last year's stuff is TOO BiG
It feels so amazing to say that for once
Nikki-thanks for posting that recipe-I am going to try it out soon.
Jennifer- my finger is wagging at you What if your Gazelle is missing a peice, broken or you can't stand the thing? You won't be able to take it back or exchange it if the receipt is 6 months old So hop to it girl build that baby and take it for a test drive!
AnneD: Did you get your son enrolled in a new school yet?
Aleka- ewww! The jicama sounds nasty! Maybe it would work better in a casserole?
Sugeorgia- I laughed when you said low 60's-we were at -3c this morning-I am coming to visit you to warm up
Morning Everyone,
DH is working out, in our "exercise room" (daughters old bedroom). I was heading that way, but he walked in there when I stopped in the bathroom. I don't like to exercise at same time as him, because he likes to talk. I like to concentrate on what I'm doing and think about my form/muscles etc. I see him all day, I don't have to visit then too. It's my private time, so guess I'll wait til he's done and then start. He just started to work out a few days ago, and he's already passed me like I'm standing still.
Aleka, it snowed here last night too. Not a lot, but I hate to see it this early. Everyone is talking about how this is going to be a really cold winter and that the price of heating is going to be sky high. I hear what your saying, Su. I am having a hard time adjusting to this different metabolism. I usually can heat a room with my body heat, and I have to have a fan on me all winter. I always figured that when I started to have hot flashes, I just wouldn't notice that much. Just turn the fan up another notch. Well, now, I have to wear shoes and socks and a sweater. I've never been able to wear sweaters before without cooking, even outside when it's below 0 I've always just worn a light jacket, unzipped.
Jennifer, if it helps, I found the Gazelle to be fairly simple to assemble. I've always had to put my stuff together. DH will, but he whines and B 's so much, I think it's easier to do it myself. I did the Gazelle in 1/2 hour. The one I got was half assembled anyway. And, I didn't even put parts on the wrong way. I hate it when you put something on backwards and then have to take the whole thing apart and redo it.
Mauvaisroux, new clothes, yeah! A must have when your a new size. I remember a nurse I use to work with that had a stomach bipass. She lost over 100 lbs and still wore the same old 3x clothes til they wore out. They looked aweful and I always wondered why she lost weight in the first place if she didn't want to enjoy the new body. They are really frugal and I have a hard time understanding that idea.
Today is the second day of no low carb bars for me. It was really hard for me to pass them by last night. I'm use to eating one or two a night. I had a salad instead for my late night snack. I still eat in the middle of the night too. I had 1/4 cup of black walnuts. They have such a big taste, I don't need to eat many. I use to sit down and eat a 16 oz. bag of pistachio's in one night. This middle of the night snacking is hard to stop. I get up, go to the bathroom and then, I can't get back to sleep. I keep thinking about being hungery and the more I think about it, the hungerier I get. I don't know what to do about it. Sometimes when this happens during the day, I will do some exercise, but I can't do this in the middle of the night. I watch tv or read, but it doesn't seem to help either. Some old habits are hard to break. At least I'm not eating half the fridge anymore.
My office is still too cold to sit and work. I'm going to have to bring in sheepskin booties! Mauvaisroux.... 60 degrees is the INSIDE temperature I dress for it at home, but at work they want us to wear regular clothes.. They may have to face the ugly sight of me in my sweats, socks and bunny slippers if this keeps up! Its actually warmer outside, although raining today.
AnneD I hope the school issues are settled. I was glad to read you are happy with one that you visited. This is such a vital need!
Jennifer- congrats on your on-plan eating. It took me a long time to get back once I'd gotten off track before. I'm not sure why it is so hard at times.
Nikki- guys are so funny about diet and exercise. Most that I've known could just decide to lose weight or start exercising and go from 0 to goal in no time. I guess it is all that muscle hanging out and burning energy! It's hard to grab your private time. I'm that way, I just seem to need so much time to myself. I admire you guys who can work at home with your spouses and stay married!
Nikki, I used to sit around under the a/c all winter. Now, I find I get cold and stay cold! Brrr! Good for you on breaking the bar habit (that doesn't sound right ) I have one carbo treat every night (strawberries) and that helps me sleep. I'm not sure which plan you are doing. Maybe decaf with lots of cream and some Splenda? Hope you find a key!
Nikkic, I am so jealous of you!!! 30 minutes on your gazelle
By the time I get in at night I am wiped. I get up each day at
4:30 am by the time I wash, dry and curl my hair, do my make-up
and so on I need a jet to get me work!! I leave at 6:30 am so I
don't have time to spare. I am going to make it my goal to get up
at 4:00 so I can fit my gazelle in.
My husband is now down to 170 from 195. I am so proud of him.
He could not stick to a diet anyway anyhow. He will be starting
level 2 very soon, so we will see how that goes.
Suzanne Somers will be on line tonight at 8:00 if anyone is
interested.
I better get back to work before bossy catches me and has
my hide on a plater.
Will be going to vote after lunch. We live in such a small town that our polls don't open until 11:30 am.
My weigh in was this morning. I stayed the same. I honestly don't mind because last week was just one of those weeks. I'm just happy I didn't gain.
ANNE D, good for your husband losing so fast. The same thing happened when DH & I were Somersizing. I really was mad because he lost it so fast and I was losing very...very..very..slowly. Glad you were happy with the school you visited. Hope everything works out for you and your DS. Suzanne is going to be on HSN this coming weekend. I'm going to watch. I can't wait until Jan. when she says she'll have her new cookbook out, Fast & Easy. That's right up my alley!
Su, I too had to laugh at 60 deg. being cold. It's 43 deg. here now, and to me 60 is rather delightful, and sweater/sweatshirt weather. Wait until you see me post we have below 0 temps! But, I honestly cannot take the cold weather anymore. The hotter the better.
nikkic, we got about 1" of snow overnight. DH had to go out and shovel the steps so that they would be clear for the dog to go outside to do her duties. There are certain times of the day I'm warmer and certain times when I am freezing. Usually late afternoon I get so cold I have to wrap myself up in a blanket. I don't know why that is. I also have to run my hands under hot water, even though they say not to do that, but it feels soooo good.
mauvaisroux, you must've had the same storm we did yesterday. Did you get much snow? Congratulations on getting smaller clothes Doesn't that make you feel good? I too am not ready for winter.
Jennifer, have you gotten the gazelle put together yet? I am totally useless when it comes to putting things together. I do not read directions very well. Good luck.
Debelli, thank you for moving my post to where it will be seen more. I didn't know exactly where to post my question.
Anne, you are so busy and you have so much to do. I'm on disability/retirement, and I have no kids at home, except for our big baby cat, so I have time on my hands. I don't know how you handle everything and I admire you for it. Still, somehow, I wish you could make time for yourself that doesn't involve sleeping less. I use to feel like I was going as fast as I could through life, it is hard on a person. Take care of you, there is only one.
Goodmorning eveybody,
Day 3 without a low carb bar. I've decided to shake things up a bit on my woe. I've read that if you stall, that your body is now use to the way your eating. So I'm going to shake things up a bit and add in a few extra good carbs the next few days, then back to lower carbs. Not a big change, just some oatmeal in the meatloaf tonight, maybe a piece of fruit or something extra tomorrow. I've been food combining for so long, oatmeal in the meatloaf is a big deal to me. I made it a while back using pork rinds and it just wasn't as good. Kind of tough. How can 1/2 cup of oatmeal divided by 8 servings be that bad anyway?
Su, it's 58 in our house. DH likes it cold when he sleeps, and I never cared before. I'm going to get a little heater to carry around with me from room to room. I even took my fan out of the living room and put it in the basement. It was a historic moment for me, it's never happened before. Good idea about the decaf and cream in the middle of the night. It helped a lot. I also cut up some celery and made a dip for late night snacking to replace the carb bars. It tasted better and was more filling.
Aleka, I'm glad you told me about what happened to you with the torso track. Since then, I've been concentrating even harder on controlling my movements with it. It is so easy to just let myself slide out too far. Then getting back is really too hard. I try to just go to the o in torso. If I'm feeling like I've had enough, I quit.
I'm waiting for DH to get off the treadmill. He asked me yesterday why I didn't work out with him and I told him I like to be alone so I can concentrate on the video, if I'm watching one or what I'm doing. He's such a sweetheart, and completely understood without being hurt or mad.
Sunshine today and warmer weather. The high this weekend could be in the 60's. The gray skys were starting to affect my mood.
Got to go feed the cats before they tear the house down. Talk to you later, Nikki
