Lightbulb I just want to share the Only "DIET" that has worked for me since my Hysterectomy!

Hello - I am so excited and have decided to share my story. I am 38 years old and have been in sizes 16-18 for the last few years since my hysterectomy several years ago. I was size 14 before the hysterctomy and have tried to "eat right" for years. Well April of this year I reached my "limit"! I was in a size 18 and weighed 207 pounds at 5'7. I felt bad - i ate things that i had been trained to think was good for me. I was doing low-fat choices and trying to walk at least 3 days a week. I heard of a local Dr. in our hometown that had women losing weight right and left - so i broke down and went to see her.

I am happy to say, I have lost 45 pounds and just bought a pair of size 10 pants this weekend and i wore them to work today! I haven't bought that size since i was in high school! My 16 year old daughter started eating the things I eat and she has trimmed
off 8 lbs. in 1 month.

WHen the doctor reviewed the diet with me - i almost walked out when i heard the words (Carbohydrates, Protein, modified body building). I was very skeptical about the diet - but i was desparate. I literally watched exactly a 1/2 pound drop each day for the first few weeks - i couldn't believe it! Keep in mind that this is NOT ATKINS!

I am not saying that this "diet" (for me a lifestyle change) is for everyone - but the more i read and hear the more it makes since. I even had a friend that her pediatrician put her daughter on this diet to help the little girl with stress and anxiety she was having at school. THe protein helps seratonin flow to the brain. Anyway - enough of all that...... Here is the diet plan for anyone that might like to give it a try and let me know how it goes......
*************************************************
Eat 4 to 5 meals a day (4 hours in between each) DON"T SKIP!

At each meal get 20 grams of Protein and no more than 26 Carbohydrate grams.
(DOn't skemp on the protein!)
1 of your meals you get 52 Carbs - you decide which one.
Your Carb selections are encouraged to be fruits, breads, vegtables

Limit Fat Grams to under 40 per day

Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water a day (Very important when adding more protein to the diet)

Take a multivitamin daily without Iron (Senior Vitamins are great for this - they don't contain Iron usually)

Women should take an additonal calcium supplement (3 Tums a day)
************************************************
Exercise at least 3 times a week getting your heart rate in the target zone for at least 15 minutes.
************************************************
To do this - you need to know how to read labels.
It has been the only thing that has worked for me and i am just so excited i want to share whenenver i can. I feel so much better and now enjoy shopping for clothes!

Well that is what i wanted to say on my first post.....Let me know what you think......

Sounds interesting. It would aggravate me to count protein grams and carbs for each meal every day, but I'm glad it works for you and that you can do this for the rest of your life. Congrats on the size 10 jeans!

hello new body in bama.

congrats on the size 10 jeans!! at the mo i can only dream of bein in that size (im 5ft9,180lbs and wear a size 16) but because of my build i dont think ill ever get there, sz 14 would do me! the diet sounds very complicated and like creativedame i couldnt do it purely for the fact that it would aggravate me too!! so, well done to you. it sounds like a great diet and maybe i will give it a tryu out, specially if you lose half lb a day!! but for now im happy with my diet. my trouble is my body gets tired of 1 diet too easily so i have to swap and change every now n then, so maybe i will try when my body gives up onthis 1! again, well done to you. spk soon

It really is not complicated to me - it is no worse than counting fat grams. all i do is make sure i get 20 protein grams and no more than 26 Carbs at each of my meals. i lead a very busy lifestyle and this simplifies a lot for me. I can take a protein bar with me in my purse and i know i always have a meal with me. My husband and i went out last night to a BUFFET!!! of all things and i just loaded up on different meats from the bar and some broccolli and carrots and 1/2 a roll and some strawberries and whip cream for dessert.

It may sound complicated at first but after you are familiar with what foods are ones to avoid and which ones are good choices then it is really simple to me.

Oh and by the way i was never expecting to get in a 10 myself because i carry most of my weight in the lower half of my body! Big Butt and those thunder thighs! But they are getting under control now! LOL

BAMA,
GREAT JOB!! I AM DEFINITLEY GIVING IT A TRY.
DID YOU LOSE MORE WEIGHT AT THE BEGINNING, I MEAN FASTER AT THE BEGINNING? I KNOW THEY SAY YOU USUALLY LOSE FAST TO BEGIN WITH CAUSE THERE IS MORE WEIGHT TO LOSE AND THEN IT SLOWS DOWN. DID THIS HAPPEN TO YOU?
I AM 5'8" 180 AND SIZE 13/14 JEANS. USED TO WEAR 7/8 AND WOULD BE SATISFIED JUST TO SEE A SIZE 10 AGAIN.
I AM EXCITED AND WILL DEFINITLEY TRY THIS AND LET YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES. WHAT TYPE OF EXERCISE DID YOU DO?
THANKS SUZZI

Yes i definitely lost more in the beginning - about 3 to 5 lbs a week. The doctor that i go to says you will not loose more than you should on this diet - that your body will let you know when you get to the ideal weight for you and your frame size. She also said that she has only had 2 patients out of the hundreds that have done this NOT to lose weight and she tested both of their thyroids and they both had a thyroid problem. After she got them on some medicine for that the weight started coming off for those two also.

Me and a friend walk 3-4 times a week on our lunch hour at an indoor track at a local church. We have done this together since the beginning of this year. We usually walk 2 miles in 30 minutes. I need to start doing some toning exercises as well.

Good Luck and keep me posted.
