Unhappy chocolate pumpkin muffins......oh no!!

I just made these yesterday and was trying to figure out the pts because I made 6 large ones, and 18 mini muffins. I came back to the recipie section to check the pts and re-read about NOT USING THE PUDDING IN THE MIX cake mix. I used the pudding one, but it was all in powder form. What do I use for the pt breakdown now?
The can of pumpkin only comes to 1 pt,.....and the mix (Betty Crocker Devils food cake, with pudding in the mix) is a whopping 2000 cal. Hopefully I calculated wrong, as I got 84 pts for the mix (12 servings) that means my low pt muffins are way out of whack. 7 pts for the larger ones....and 4 pts for the 1" mini muffins. That can't be right!!! HELP.

Take the nutrition info on the side of the box for "mix only" (not "as prepared"). Calculate points for those numbers. Pumpkin is actually a zero-point veggie, plus every muffin got only <10% of the can, so you can safely ignore it if you like.

Now, if you made the big muffins out of half the mix, each one of them is equal to ONE serving if the box makes 12.

Take the cal/fat/fiber numbers for ONE serving and divide each number by 3. That will give you NI for one mini. Calculate points on that.

Alternatively, if you want to include the pumpkin, multiply out the cal/fat/fiber x number of servings. Divide by 12 and add those amounts to add to cal/fat/fiber from the cake mix for the big muffins. Calculate points.

Then take the big muffin cal/fat/fiber and divide by 3 again for the minis.

When I make these I use one regular devils food cake mix and one can pumpkin, the small can. I also add 1/4 cup water. Mix up, spray 12 muffin tins with "Pam". Bake for 25 min. at 350. These are 4 points each. They freeze really well and are great with "Cool Whip" Enjoy.

I don't use alot of mixes, but I once tried making these and they
were awful. That is, they were not chocolately, but very pumpkiney.

I did the can of pumpkin and box of cake mix thing and made muffins.

I wouldn't mind trying again if someone can assure me they won't be so gloppy and pumpkiny.

sounds icky, I think you must have used the big can of pumpkin, use the smaller one. Use the devils food cake mix. I think they are great and I did not taste the pumpkin at all. Try it again.
