Could it be that time of the month? Are you weighing at the same time of day and with the same amount or lack of clothes on? Has it been a full week since you last weighed in or is the 5 pound increase since yesterday? Have you been drinking enough water? Could you be backed up?

Post your menus.

Ive never done south beach but I think all plans experience plateaus. All I can recommend is change something drastically in your workout to shock your body out of its rut. Plateaus are so frustrating! But when you bust through it you will feel awesome!

Its not TOM and I am weighing with no clothes about 6 am. I am up from last week. I have been up for the last 3 days in a row thats how I know its not water.

I have increased water to 90oz a day for the last 2 days.

And I don't think I am backed up.

I have been boring and doing
B-2 egg whites and 1 yolk with celery in the am
S- almonds
L-Veggie V8 soup (SB recipe) and 2 cups salad with veggies
S- string cheese and tomatoes
D- Grilled meat with steamed veggies and salad.
80-90 oz of water a day with no soda and NO crystal light.

UGH!!!

OK don't slap me but didn't you write you had a big cheat last night? The thing about this diet is I find you really have to be consistent. We can eat so many different things that just going off plan a little bit seems to counteract the weight loss...unlike a plan like WW where you closely monitor calories etc. Having cheats may work for maintenance but obviously not for the losing weight phase. Even one can throw you off.

Hahaha! *SLAP* no way. I have seen this 3 days in a row. This was my first cheat in 2 weeks. I MEAN IT!! not even a gum with sugar!!

But you are right. Even though I was up before that but every time I see an up I falter.

I don't think I can do this anymore.

I'm sorry that you feel that way and hope you will continue with South Beach. It is the easiest meal plan I've ever been on. I really do feel like it is a WOL for me. I think that's key though - you can't view it as a diet.

If it makes you feel any better, Weight Watchers didn't work for me at all but works great for my friend. I guess no one plan is right for everyone. Maybe you need the flexibility that Points would provide? I hope you feel better. I know how you feel.

You CAN do this.

Are you working out at all? Could it be muscle that is going on and fat is coming off?

I hear you, sister. It's a PITA to work this hard and have the scale go UP.

Do you think your portion sizes are too large?? I know my husband and I (we just finished a 3 week Phase 1) struggle with portion controls.

I was up last week - I still don't know why.
I was scared that I wouldn't make my 5 lb loss for January.

Now I'm down 3 lbs in the past 2 days - and I don't know why that is either.

I think sometimes our bodies are just unpredictable. But it's long term changes we're looking for, right? If you keep eating on plan and exercising when you can, the weight will come off. You've been doing great and you can continue to do great. This is just 3 lousy days out of a lot of great days.

Were you here when Kara put her scale in time out?
It sounds like your scale could use a little time out too.

I never, ever weigh myself after a cheat. Especially if it's carb heavy. Carbs are stored as glycogen in your muscles and liver and are always stored with a good deal of water. If you stay on plan, it will come off. It is not a gain in fat unless you ate a tremendous number of calories. I don't mean to be preachy, but if you want to see results, try to eat clean, no cheating. It really does work.

I am not working out because I feel like I am not getting enough cals as it is. And with new job... the most I get in is 1 mile walk to/from work now.

I have tear welling up. I want to retire my scale for a while but it will haunt me. I know myself. I can't stay off when I see this kind of defeat.

OI!

I was clean for two weeks. I cheated once last night but this has been 3 days.

I have no advice but just wanted to voice support. It can be frustrating. But hang in there.

I would be incredibly frustrated too, but try not to give up! You can do this! Hide the scale for a week and give this week your best shot and I bet you will see a loss!

DON'T QUIT!!! You can do this!! Remember what Jillian says on Biggest Loser...when you're stressing out about stuff in life, your body can respond by hanging onto weight. Which I totally believe!!

Retire than dang scale, even if it's only for a few days...have your DH/BF hide it from you. Keep eating OP. You can't base the effectiveness of this "diet"...or any diet for that matter....on only 3 days of unfavorable scale results. You gotta stick with it longer than that.

So...stick with it!! Mind over matter!! Just do it!! We're all here for you and rooting for you!
