Default Should I try again?

So I did WW online in college for about 3 months and failed miserably. Like I don't think that I was OT for even a whole day. It ended up being a huge waste of money and I of course felt guilty for not being able to do it.

However, I have been able to lose 40 lbs on my own without following anything specific. But now I am stuck at 160 and really want to do away with the last 30lbs by summer. So I am considering trying it again....

But I am on a very limited income and could afford it but it would possibly mean that I would have to sacrifice something else in the long run.

My question is: Has anyone tried WW in the past, failed, then tried it again and succeeded?

Thanks!

A cheaper alternative would be just to start counting calories. It's basically the same thing (from what I can tell), but minus any costs.

And way to go on the 40lb loss! I'm sure you'll be able to do it with whatever method you choose

You can do Weight Watchers without the cost of the meetings. I bought a starter kit at one of the WW offices for about $25 and it included a complete food guide with point values, a point calculator/slider, a fast-food guide with point values and the intro book showing how to figure out your allowed points. I didn't have to sign up or anything.

I was on WW before and lost weight then had a series of crazy life events and quit. Two years later, with my life more settled, I rejoined (25 lbs higher than my ORIGINAL starting weight!) and it's been working for me. I learned some lessons from the first time, like I will go to every meeting and I will do the weigh-in at every meeting...I just stopped doing weigh-ins before I eventually quit because I didn't want to know my weight.

I agree on one level with the others, you can certainly follow WW on your own and save a lot of money. But if you're like me, you are looking for some accountability. You obviously CAN do it on your own, you are just having trouble continuing on your own. If that's the case, then I can see WW being a good investment for you at this time. And think of it this way, once you lose that final 30 lbs you can be a lifetime member and not have to pay anymore!

Good luck.

Thanks for the responses! I think I have decided that I am going to go to a meeting on sunday, get all the starting stuff and then just do it at home. I think the meetings would be helpful, but there is no way I could afford $40 a month to go! And online seems nice and convenient, but I am just afraid of shelling out all that money and then not utilizing it like I should. So I will start with the $12 to get the materials and see where that goes!!

Thanks for the advice!
