Hi, Welcome to the group!
I am working on my family meal plan this evening. Hubby has a new mens health mag with some ideas...will post them if they are any good
ya i should have given more info lol... I am sooo not picky.just allergic to shellfish..and dont really like pork..love all veggies..something that maybe my kids would love too...deff things for on the go..
Snacks:
- Celery and carrot sticks with any kind of dip you like. (hummus, ranch dressing, etc)
- Trail mix (make your own with healthy alternatives. You can bag that per serving size and just munch as you go. Nuts are really healthy, I eat the raw versions with no salt, and are good fat sources.)
Meals/Salads/Etc. (I make vegan things)
- Celery Slaw (bite sized pieces of celery, cherry tomatoes, bell pepper, onion and a creamy dressing...I made my own out of cashews, I mixed it up, added some seasoning, put it in the fridge and dished it out when I needed it on a bed of spinach or dark leafy greens.)
- Roasted veggies (big hit at my house is anything roasted)
- Healthy wraps (tortilla, nori, lettuce etc...) You can put anything in one and have that on the go for sure.
- Salsa (so easy to make, so many combinations, i LOVE mango salsa, I just chop up mango, grape tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, jalapeno, add a dash of lemon and tons of cilantro...i put it over lettuce for a great salad)
- Tortilla Soup (this is a fav at my house, there are loads of recipes online, mostly with chicken. I make mine with soy chicken and roasted corn, baked tortillas, and very little oil. So it is very healthy and my boyfriend lurves it. It is his favorite haha.)
- Salads (that is pretty endless, I love spinach, pear, and pecan with oil and apple cider vinegar, or fruit salads...easy to be creative!)
- Smoothies (again endless options, I love spinach, strawberry, blueberry, and banana. The fruit covers up the lettuce flavor.)
I like turkey rolls, turkey with a little cheddar cheese and a slice of red pepper in the middle (can roll turkey in lettuce), tuna salad in a tomato, baked sweet potatoes- sometimes stuffed sweet potatoes - a simple chocolate mousse made of whipping heavy cream with unsweetened cocoa and splenda, oh and if you are in a hurry for a quickie light meal those packaged meal (lean cuisine?) butternut squash ravioli! yum yum!
And don't forget salmon steak - grilled is best with lemon pepper. Add some rice pilaf (healthy, no butter or sauce), tangy, chilled, green bean salad, some seasoned spinach and it's done. Substitute any salad or healthy veggie - it is really a great meal.
I also like Ceviche - made with fish, cucumber, tomato, chopped radishes, onion and cilantro. Lemon and lime juice give the flavor with almost NO sodium. Serve with some baked tortilla chips if you feel safe with those. Low cal, low fat and low sodium.
I was going to write out my Mexican shrimp cocktail recipe, but you can't do shell fish! Bummer! It's da bomb.
Anyway, as you can see, I grew up on the coast and I still love seafood. Good luck with your meals.
I like tuna from the can with fat-free Miracle Whip in it.
I also like fat-free cream cheese and strawberries.
Non-fat, plain Greek yogurt with blueberries and flaxseed meal.
Also, hot coffee works miracles for me as far as staving off the munchies.
These are (some) things I ate today. There are infinite choices out there. The best thing to do is start experimenting and finding what works for you! Find out what you like--what you can fit in time wise and budget wise.

I also like the grilled chicken breast that is already cooked in the bag. I add it to quick veggie stir fries or the light soups from a can for quick lunches. I like egg white omlettes with tons of veggies--my favorite omlette is spinach and tomotoes.
I like to focus on whole foods--I feel better and more satiated when I do and they are plain better for me. I certainly have my "cheats" though.
On the go snacks are usually 12-15 raw almonds put into a baggy in my purse and a piece of fruit. I put this in before I go out the door as a matter of habit. That way, I am never stuck somewhere--wondering what to do.
Also, if you are on the go alot, figure out what the safest places are to eat--or what to get where. My friends always want to go to Starbucks. I love going too. However, I skip the latte's with muffins and instead get black coffee and a banana. When they want to go for cocktails I either have a glass of red wine or a shot of Tequila--both under 100 calories.
Planning is so essential. To me, it's like a game of Chess. I think of my opponent as my old way of eating--it is always trying to find a way to "get through" to me. I must head it off by planning and trying to guess which way it's going next.
Keep poking around the site, you'll find tons of great ideas.
My favorite things are:
Breakfast
Protein Pancakes
1/3 c. lowfat cottage cheese
1/3 c. oatmeal
2 egg whites
Dash of cinnamon, vanilla, splenda, baking powder
Blend to a batter consistency and bake like pancakes. Throw in some blueberries if you like, top with sugar-free syrup
Chocolate Banana Oatmeal
1/2 c. oatmeal
1t cocoa powder
1/2 cut up banana
cinnamon and splenda to your liking
Smoothie
3/4c unsweetened Almond Breeze
1/2 banana
1/2 c strawberries
1/4 c blueberries
I also add 1-2 T of Flaxseed meal to all the above.
Lunch or Dinner Ideas
I always keep grilled chicken in the fridge and use that for a quick chicken stirfry w/ whatever fresh veggies are on hand. I also mix it with a lil olive oil mayo, relish and spices for a chicken salad. Cut it up and put it on salad or a flatbread. Oh, the chicken list goes on.
Ground Turkey (99% lean) is another favorite of mine. I use it for tacos - light on the cheese, heavy on veggies. Mix it with light pasta sauce and top spaghetti squash. Make into turkey burgers...
I always keep the frozen steam veggie boxes on hand in case I run short on fresh.
I also keep Flat Outs or Lavash bread around for quick, healthy pizzas.
Snacks/Desserts
Fresh fruit
Laughing cow cheese with crackers
carrots and hummus
cucumber salad
apple/broccoli slaw made w/ light yogurt
apple w/ peanut butter
granola bars
I could go on and on. I'll leave you with that for now.
